  1. Like me, many 240Z owners have installed the "Dave Irwin" plug and play relay setup for the headlights. They should have documented it if they did this to the car. If done per the instructions it is completely reversable to stock.
  2. ZTherapy replaces the bushings with roller bearings. Including me I'm sure there's plenty of folks around here that are very happy with our roller bearing carbs. I'd guess you'll be happy with your bearing mod.
  3. I think they forgot to drop in the small block! 😉
  4. Looks like a nice new Vintage dash!
  5. Here's where the FSM is for a '73 240Z on this site. You've got some reading to do. And hey, there's lots of pictures of the parts talked about in the different sections.
  6. Drop this thread and move to your new thread regarding dizzy and firing order.
  7. As @240dkw says. Ignore where you think it should be. Once TDC is achieved per the cam lobes and cyl #1 all the way up the rotor in the distributor will be pointing at #1, then the firing order goes counter clockwise from there in the order stated in post #2.
  8. Now that you have spark, things can move on. I remember in the other thread the topic of TDC came up and there was a response about where the cam lobes are and you might have been a rotation of on TDC. Open the Oil cap and see if the 2 front lobes on the cam are up in like rabbit ears. This should also be with the #1 cylinder all the way up like you described in the other thread with the screw driver in the spark plug hole. Your firing order is 1 5 3 6 2 4. With the engine at TDC as described the rotor in the distributor would be pointing at cylinder #1.
  9. Here's the calculator I used when I changed to 15x7 wheels. Tire Size Calculator | Tire Size Chart | Tire Size Conversion | Discount Tire Ended up with 205/60 R15 which calculated out to be almost identical to stock tire height (assuming 195/70-14) so when my speedo reads 65 MPH actual would be 64.8 MPH, pretty close. The 205 is tire width and 60 is a tire height percent of tire width and the R15 is the wheel diameter.
  10. I think he's referring to the stock fuel rail for the S U's where at the end of the rail where the return connects to the flexible fuel return line the end of the fuel rail is tapered down to restrict outflow to slightly pressurize the fuel rail.
  11. Rather than the high pressure pump why not go with a low pressure pump. I did this one back in 2017 and it's working fine with my SU's. Motorsport Auto - The Z Store - K&N Electric Fuel Pump for Carbureted Z/ZX It's not the quietest but once the car is started I can't hear it over the exhaust and my exhaust isn't that loud. I use a magnaflow 10426 resonator with a magnaflow 13216 muffler, ceramic coated 6 to 1 header w/2.5" pipe all the way back. SU reliability issues... All I can say is bunk.
  12. Mine are Gunmetal w/polished lip. It is hard to tell which is which...
  13. I worked in IT for 38 years on IBM mainframes. Started on a 360 model 50 in 1971 as an operator and then as a MVT -> MVS -> z/OS sysprog. I'm very familiar with why you ran Lotus Smartsuite and what went down between IBM and Microsoft around the OS/2 PC operating system. Best WYSIWYG word processor I ever used was Ami Pro (acquired by Lotus and turned into Lotus Word Pro) before my company standardized on Microsoft Office.
  14. @jayhawk Some poster humor. I loaded up the .odt in Word (MS365 so it's current). Did you know that Word only supports up to 17"X22" max page size, then it doesn't have "Export Directly as a PDF", word only supports PDF's in 8.5"X11". I loaded up LibreOffice Writer and your 18"X24" (which is a standard poster size) worked just fine and the same sized Exported PDF. So if anybody else wants to look at this you really should use LibreOffice Writer (it's free), not Microsoft Word. I did make some minor changes, hope you don't mind, here's what I did... 2023 THE LEGENDARY DATSUN 240Z CONCOURS INFO POSTER 18x24 a.odt
  15. @jayhawkI really like your Z "An Instant Classic" history poster! Would you mind if I used it?
  16. A funny cup holder story... Of course my wife's 50 Chev pickup doesn't have cup holders (we did get some recently that clip into the speaker grills in the dash). She got an award at the show and my wife had our 5 or 6 year old granddaughter in the truck with her while they were waiting in the award lineup. When they got to the front of the line my wife handed our granddaughter her water cup and asked her to hold it while she accepted the award. While the granddaughter was holding my wife's cup she said... "Grandma, you need to sell this truck and get one with cup holders".
  17. I wonder what Fran told Hagerty the declared value should be for insurance? My guess is that when Fran stated the value it prompted Hagerty to see the car for themselves which then prompted the article.
  18. Agree on the swiss cheese on the back of the door (at least you don't see it when the doors are closed). I thought it was tasteful the way they widened and lengthened the car to not do flares and have some big meats on the road. The widening is most noticeable on the space between the bucket and the hood. I like that they stayed Datsun powered and kept the interior stock except for the shift knob. And boy howdy, that did have to cost a bunch to do!
  19. I'm not real keen on the frenched bumpers.

  21. My 73 held its tune very well too. The dealer did all the stuff to remedy the vapor lock in the summer and if it helped it was minimal. I can remember many days on the way home from work popping the hood latch to improve airflow in the engine bay which did help.

  23. That seems odd the way yours works. In my old 73 (that went away over 30 years ago) I don't remember a seat belt light. There was a buzzer and if the seat belt wasn't latched the buzzer would buzz when in gear, but not in neutral. This seems opposite of the way you described your seat belt light working.
  24. When I did all the external bulbs to LED I used this flasher for both hazard and blinkers, works fine.
