Its been a while but my engine finally came in and the car is mostly prepped for it to be dropped in. The engine is going to stay stock for a while so I can build into the power later is needed. I also have most of my roll bars installed at this point. The welds came out pretty good for me. I have the oil pan for the rear sump conversion and my wiring harness of the way. The engine should be in next weekend hopefully after I fabricate some engine mounts -Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

That is for the tip. I didn't know about that but it's seems like a great idea. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

@esmit208 thanks for the advice. Its a lot to take in I don't plan on doing much racing but I am looking for something more connected to the road. And for the sand blaster, what type of compressor are you using to power it. I know they can't be powered by the cheap harbor freight ones. @siteunseen that does sound like a good idea, I used to race go carts when I was younger and did appreciate my coach teaching me alot. A refresher and some classes are hopefully in line sometime in the future. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

That was not directed at you but thanks for the advice. I understand what you are saying now but my old tank was trashed. It was all rusted and dented. I think the P/O tried to spray paint the inside of the tank to stop the rust. Thanks for clearing that up. Now that's it's too late would you have any ideas to help better secure the tank? Like I have said many time, I am not done. I am going to add the fill tube back to the stock location so I doubt have to open the hatch every time I fill up. I'm sorry about the reply, I came here to post about my build hoping it would go well but now I have all these strangers telling me what to do and what is and isn't safe. I have been at this alone since I started so it's weird to have people telling me how I should build my car. Thanks for understanding, Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

You're right[emoji23] [emoji23] . The bling factor us high but its also FIA approved for racing as long is I secure it to specs. I'm currently trying to prep the car for the arrival of the engine. I'm redoing the fuel lines and the brake lines while there is no tranny or engine. Thanks for the kind words. I'm taking the advice of people who are some what resonable. I'm not going to pull a fuel system that just set me back a grand to put back a rusty tank form the 70s that were built to the standards of the respective times. I am only 2 months into my build, don't have an engine and am still working on the car. I came to this forum to learn and listen. I think even a grown man would be able to see that a car without an engine in the engine bay is not drivable, or even close to being done. -Johnny Sorry about that. I do see the advice I am receiving as helpful but it's too late for me to change it. I would like to apologise for my reply and hope you can continue to help me along with my build. Yeah sorry about that. The tank does not move with the straps currently but I'm planning on creating a cover plate to go over the tank and fill the void in the rest of the wheel well. The lines are secure and like I said I'm still building. I will be getting grommets and hose clamps for the fuel lines. I have stainless lines from the cell to the hard lines in case of movement. The cell it self has roll over protection with one way valves and is made of a rubber bladder so it doesn't crack or puncture upon impact. This is somewhat of what I'm going to do but maybe cover more of the cell. -Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hello rturbo 930, I see what you are saying but I'm not done with the build. There are many more things There are going to go in for the safety aspects of the car and the fuel system. It's great to get free back like this. All I know is that stamp tanks by the rear of the car caused a lot of explosions back in the 70's (correct me if I'm wrong). Here is a link to the FAQ of ATL's website and their safety standards. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

The fuel cell is an ATL well cell with a 12 gallon capacity. It is rated for racing so I think it will be adequate. My mom grew up with these cars and so she had some concerns about the stamp tank near the rear bumper. I am going to isolate the rear of the car with some sheet metal. Maybe like a box to cover the fuel cell. Here is the link to the fuel cell. http://atlinc.com/saver-cell-series.html Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Back to the updates, I finished the floor pans and the fuel system. The brake lines are coming in next Wednesday with some stuff from Eastwood like paints and sealers I also started on the engine bay. The P/O decided to give the car a shitty spray paint job. Now it's my turn to make it nice. Any ideas on color? I was going to go royal blue and do a gunmetal grey exterior. -Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Hey, sorry about the misleading title. I didn't mean to make this seem like a finished build. I have been tinkering with the idea of not going RB25 but a good family friend swapped his 240sx with a RB25 and so he is kind of my mentor or teacher. I have most of my funds already set and a great paying job for a 16 year old. I also have a side business of making and selling surfboards. This build for me is more to keep my hands entertained and to tinker. I am planning on using this build to help me get into an engineering school and so I want it to stand out. Hopefully most of the work and fabrication will be done at home.[emoji1] [emoji1] [emoji1] -Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Thanks for all the support@charliekwin@Hardway@gwri8@RS02@Captain Obvious@Mark Maras. The car used to have a L28ET swapped in it. For the most part I have been working on things that didn't cost much money like striping old parts and cleaning and checking for rust. The floor pans are in pretty great shape with little rust. After getting comfortable with the car I started to strip stuff from the engine. I knew I was going to pull it so decided to make that job as easy as possible in the future. I didn't record any of the engine being pulled but it was pretty straight forward. Floor pans are being coated with POR 15 right now and a fuel cell and new fuel line is being installed. -Johnny Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Classic Zcar Club mobile
