I've finally finished my new shop website!
I'm very persnickety about things I work on (cars included), so I appreciate the input. I'll check on those links Edit: Links are fixed!

I've finally finished my new shop website!
I've updated the "Vintage Racing" page a bit to reflect your input. Does that help explain a bit more clearly now? http://michaelsvintageracing.com/vintage-racing/

I've finally finished my new shop website!
Okay, good point. I can spend some time listing the clubs for reference. I'm not sure why I would take offense to being a race-prep, transport, and restoration shop for old cars; that's what we do. We store customer cars, but I'm not advertising that separately because space is at a premium. Vintage racing happens all over the country and the world, and has for quite some time. I agree it needs help with exposure, and I'd like to help with that. I'm not SVRA, that's just one of the clubs we run with. I updated that page to explain the acronym as you mentioned. They just have good info for what types of cars are eligible, so I linked to them. I can add some more exposition there, though.

I've finally finished my new shop website!
Thanks for the feedback! I was hoping the "New to Vintage Racing?" section on the homepage and the "vintage racing" page in the menu would answer a neophyte's questions. Were those still not informative enough? What other information would you suggest I add? This is good to know, as I hope to use the site to increase knowledge and awareness about vintage racing through it. We did not invent it; it's been around since the 70s or 80s and it's a worldwide sport. I can't believe I forgot the link, haha. Thanks for adding it. Edit: Looks like the link is there, but the forum broke the hyperlink.

I've finally finished my new shop website!
After what felt like a million hours of teaching myself Wordpress, formatting pages, and resizing photos, I've finally gone live with the totally new version of www.MichaelsVintageRacing.com! It's got tons of cool photos, info about our cars and drivers, our 2018 schedule, and more! Please take a minute to give it a look and share any input!

Looking for some 240/260/280 Parts
Hi everyone, I want to clean up my 260 this winter, and I'm looking for a few pieces to help that process along. I'd like to find: Hood LF fender Both headlight assemblies Left door The rear valance panel under the taillights Maybe the LR fender area (I can give more detail if need be) I'm still new to the Datsun game, so I need a bit of help knowing what exactly will fit my car. My car's build date is 11/74, and I've attached a photo of the car's ID plate. Please let me know what I need, and if you have it! Thanks, Mike

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
No, I was looking at an ITS car and did a search for Zs on track. I agree that it sounds like that car is part of the family.

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
I found that video the first time I was looking to buy a Z (he sold the car out from under me...), and it really is good stuff!

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Oh well! The Z's first race weekend with me is over, and it went great! The car had no issues, it ran great, and I had an absolute blast learning about it! The welded rear was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to learning how to make one work. The road gearing is a bit wider than ideal but very usable, and once I started double-clutching The gearbox worked very well. I surprised a lot of people with the car's pace, including myself! I can't wait to get the car out again as we continue to make improvements.

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
I tallied up the whopping 169 votes I received in the livery poll, and here are the final scores! Type 1: 73 votes Type 2: 27 votes Type 3: 58 votes Type 4: 11 votes These are some designs I and various fans came up with in the meantime! If you have any opinions of these or any other ideas, feel free to share!

Selling my genuine Fairlady Z & '71 240Z Package Deal
Interesting. It was never used in production aside from the very early cars, correct? Is it the same bore as the L24?

Ah, of course. Like the (ill-informed) Ferrari 208 and the BMW E30 320iS!

Selling my genuine Fairlady Z & '71 240Z Package Deal
Gotcha, thanks for the info! The Fairlady sounds like a very cool car; I'm new to all this, but I didn't realize there was a 2.0L version of the L24! (L20?) The G-nose is pretty cool-looking, too.

This is a bit off-topic, but what's the deal with the orange thing? Bodykit?

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
I was wondering about the roof color and its effect on temperature...the only closed car I've driven was a Lotus Cortina with a white roof, so I assume you've tried light and dark and noticed a difference? Boy, that does look pretty similar...where/when is that picture from?

I generally feel less is more when it comes to car livery.

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Thanks guys! I have a preference, but I've learned many times that there may always be something new and different out there! Aside from that, I'm finding it very interesting to see how everyone votes I added that pinstripe later on and it made a surprisingly large difference overall. It accentuates the body line as you say, and it breaks up the wall of blue on the sides of the car.

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
I've been having some fun coming up with potential liveries for the Datsun, and I'd like to get some opinions! Which do you think looks best? Any other ideas I should try? The colors came out a bit funky for some reason, but it's the same color scheme the Ginetta uses:

All signs point to yes as far as startup and revving from idle go, but I'm sure you know that's an entirely different situation than on track so we'll find out in a month or so!

Will do, thanks! That's a pretty accurate way of describing Schenley, haha. Thanks, I'll let you know!

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Hi, if that's your car I can assure you I won't trouble you on track! In all seriousness, I'd be very appreciative of any information you'd be willing to share. I'm going to be reading through the couple books that came with the car, and I want to learn as much as I can about Zs! Are you heading to NJMP by any chance?

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Haha, what a coincidence! Judging by the class decal, what it lacks in door numbers it's making up for in cc's! In other news, I've got some short videos! The car sounds mean in person. https://flic.kr/p/WmVPCv https://flic.kr/p/WjyXXm If anyone knows how to embed video from Flickr, I'm a new user and I can't figure it out.

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Thanks! It does need some help cosmetically, but mechanically it's already usable. That would be cool if you had any photos of it! I got a couple notebooks and reference books with the car and I can't wait to dig into them

Exciting news: I just got a 240Z race car!
Thanks! The car is actually a 74.5 260, but it has a 240 engine and brakes installed. I figured it'd be simpler to refer to the car the way it'll race, and forgot to make the distinction! The car will be strictly a race car. The historic plate is just a fun bonus to come with the car
