  1. This week I get to see how my wing came out, and it was not as great as I hoped.
  2. Watch both of my how to build a spray booth videos. In the first one I just had a negative pressure fan, like most professional booths. The issue is, that they are properly sealed, rigid units, so it works well. In my second video, I get another identical fan and have one pushing in through a filter and one sucking out. The fans work better at pushing than pulling, which makes the booth positive pressure. There are a heap of benefits to positive pressure in this situation. For starters, the sides push out which gives you heaps more space to work. The biggest benefit though, is that it is always pushing any dust out. As it is a tent, it is not completely sealed, and if it is negative, dust will get in where ever it can. My 911's paint is a little dry in a couple of spots, where my painting skills fell down, but there is basically no dust in it at all. It is better than half of the professional booths I have worked in.
  3. No, I didn't lay down an epoxy on the 911 before paint. It was always stressed, that bog has to go onto bare metal. It is only a more recent change with the new paint technology, that you can put bog over the new epoxy primers.
  4. This week I planned on painting the epoxy on the inside of all the panels, but I ended up getting side tracked by more panel beating and trying to fit a really dodgy wing.
  5. This week's adventure was finishing up the booth lighting. I then moved on to rust treating the whole car and painting the epoxy primer.
  6. I probably should have, but the lower support panel is many times stronger than those front wings, so I wasn't overly concerned.
  7. This week I manage to do some home built frame pulling and then I rebuild the spray booth.
  8. This week I get stuck back into repairing the bonnet and then spend a heap of time trying to get the front bar lined up.
  9. That is a good tip with the door gap, although want to get the most out of adjustment first of course. I am now actually planning on welding the bumper to one piece, and we were lucky enough to not have over riders in Aus. I won't be chroming it though, as that is not something I can do myself I can't even fit a grill at all at the moment with the bonnet the way it is, but I will cut it and see what I can do.
  10. This week I finally finish the roll cage. I also start aligning all of the panels on the Z getting it ready for paint.
  11. I am back into the roll cage this week and I finally get it all together.
  12. Happy New year guys. I have finally got stuck back into the Z. Continuing to work on the roll cage this week.
  13. This week I have started to build the roll cage for the Z, but of course in the process I discover more rust.... AAAAaaaarrrghhh!!!
  14. I am happy painting mine. I think a chrome powder coat would look good on small things, but I am not confident it would look good on big things. Also Eastwood products are not available in Aus, so shipping and duties, etc, makes them expensive.
  15. This week I have been fighting with the front end, trying to get all of the parts to fit neatly.
  16. I have looked at that. The issue is that I have to import Eastwood products to Australia and they get expensive once you start adding shipping and duties, etc.
  17. Back into it after having my 911 build video go viral with over 11 million views in the first 5 days. This week it is time to fit some wheel arch flares to my Z.
  18. This week I gave paint stripper another go, and it works much better if it there are not 20 layers of paint and bog. The whole car is almost rust free now, just a couple of small bits to go.
  19. Wow, that looks very interesting. I will have to have a look at that for the future. It is a pity I am basically done.
  20. This week I finally finish repairing all of the rust damage on my doors. Getting there slowly. Jeff
  21. This week I have been back at it, cutting rust out of these doors. I am quite happy with how the repairs are coming along, but it is so time consuming. Jeff
  22. This week I work away at finishing that terrible door. It is a lot of rust and a lot of work, but I am stubborn enough to keep at it. Jeff
  23. Are my 240Z's doors completely rusted out and junk? They have been covered up with a mountain of bog and paint, so this week I strip them down and see if I can save them.
  24. I did that this week with the initial spot welds. To be honest, you could do a little bit of hammer and dolly every spot weld as you go, or as I have, a little bit at the end. The warping I got was nothing major, but I think the main thing that people need to know, it whatever you do.
