  1. Why are you removing the lines?
  2. Thanks, About what I expected. It's beginning to get interesting. Just got two boxes of front suspension parts from MSA today, looks like major surgery this weekend. Then the rear plus new struts. Also have got a bid box of sound deadening material that's next up on the to-do list. Just now finding local groups to join. I've seen the Austin group, can't seem to find a Houston group. Is there one?
  3. The mat used in this thread is 80 mil but I've also seen 50. I was just wondering if the OP had a reason for selection of the thickness. Obviously the thicker the quieter which is probably good. And yes, the Dynamat is pretty spendy
  4. Is there a reason you went with this stuff over, say, Dyna-mat? This doesn't look like an economy resto so perhaps there's a better technical reason?

Great thread, I'm pretty much in the same place. Is there a list of replacement part numbers for all the wear parts in the front suspension? Hard to tell from the parts diagram if I've got everything that is rubber or wears. I've seen the kits at the Z Store but there seems to be some options there too. Which is the correct kit for a '71?
  6. Prices are on the upswing in a big way. Check out www.e9coupe.com for details. I love mine, drove it from Texas out to Monterey and back for the Historics.
  7. Agreed. I've already removed it. I've got a BMW 3.0 CSi too and I put a Sanden compressor in that. Works excellent, getting one for the Z too.
  8. Probably poly as long as it doesn't make the ride too harsh. I'll search for info here, I'm sure there's some treads on it. Yes, I think the wheel bearings need changing too
  9. Thanks, it is a nice car, real original. But it definitely needs some mechanical work. I need to replace all the bushings/rubber parts in the front and rear suspension. It sort of "hops" around in lane at freeway speeds so tracking is a bit of an issue. I dumped the points and installed a Petronix system (have one on my SLR311) what an improvement!! Any suggestions on who to get the bushings and lower ball joints from?
  10. Scored. Four U.S. Mag center caps on their way. Thanks for the assist!
  11. Yes, I'm finding it difficult to find the four lug. I've contacted wheelcentercap.com and asked if they have some (wonder where they got that name? )
  12. Excellent! That looks to be exactly right. Thanks for the info, looks like they sell thru dealers so I'll be able to go by and point at what I need.
  13. Greetings gang, I'm the proud owner of a new-to-you 1971 Z I won on BaT. Looks to be an early Series II. Been wanting a Z for more than 20 years and so I finally went for it. I've also got a restored 1969 SRL311 so I'm no stranger to cool Japanese cars. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-38/ This is a bone stock car, the only exception is the air pump and piping have been removed. I flew to Minneapolis and drove it home! No issues until I got to Dallas where it started losing power. I originally thought it was an air leak in the fuel line but turns out it was just a clogged fuel filter. Made it home safely otherwise. Also just discovered the battery date was 06/06!! Amazing I made it home. Just proves once again how these old Japanese cars are the most reliable vehicles out there. I think I'm getting a grip on where to get parts, however, where can I get the threaded wheel center cones (check out the pictures)? The hole is 3" which doesn't seem to match anything. Thanks for this great community
