280Z vs. Honda Civic Del Sol......... help
well here's the scoop: Today.. at my high school, I overheard some kid saying that he has a turbo kit and nitrous. SO I proceed to kinda walk along side and talk to him about his car as he walks up to his car. I said, you have a turbo? Sweet.. where did you mount the intercooler (since I didn't see one in the front) He says, Greddy I say, no.. where did you mount it? He said "it's all custom GReddy... underneath by the oilpan" I said, "What the **** around talking about.... under the oil pan?" He said, "yeh it sucks up the air from underneath" So i said, "what size turbo?" He said, "T66!" I said holy **** man.... I don't trust the way this sounds.... he opens his door and I proceed to look for instruments.... boost guage, turbo timer, boost controller nothing.... SO.. i said where is your boost guage? he said "it's electronically controlled" i said "what!" no that's your boost controller.. ur boost guage! he doesnt have one... then I said where is your No2 bottle.... it's underneath the car inbetween the 3" dual exhuast for his little 1.6L engine He got in his car with some fine girl and drove off.. I laughed yet was full anger.. that lying sack of ****.. your gonna die. So... when I go back to school monday, I am gonna quiz him.... and offer to race him. Can my '78 280Z AUTOMATIC beat his Honda Civic Del Sol 5-speed? here are the specs on the Honda Del Sol.. i'm not sure if it's VTEC Factory Weight: 2,301 Lbs. ---------------------------------------- 93-95 Del Sol Si D16Z6 125 bhp @ 6600 Redline: 7200 rpm 106 lb-ft @ 5200 ---------------------------------------- 93-95 Del Sol VTEC (EG2) B16A2/A3 160 bhp @ 7600 Redline: 8200 rpm 111 lb-ft @ 7000 ---------------------------------------- So.. since I know he is lying.. I do know he has intake and dual exhuast. Can my 280Z take it? (BTW this will be a track.. not a street race)

Ohh $^!# yeah! Finally I have something with some knowledge.... A Nissan Sunny.. wow.. definatly... something no where related to a Z car.. other than being a Nissan. Lots of variants... B12/B13/B14/B15 chassis 1.6L SR16VE engine.... (has VVL- Variable Valve and Lift.. like VTEC but Nissan Style) and in the BASE models.. they have 1.6L GA16DE motors. Then there is the GTiR Sunny.. an AWD beast with the SR20DET! ------------------------------------------------------------ In America it's an Nissan Sentra.... elsewhere it's a Nissan Sunny. or Super Saloon. ------------------------------------------------------------- B12 Sunny B13 Sunny B14 Sunny B15 Sunny WHy is that on there... I have no idea.

The truth about headers.....
well... i think that will be a while till my engine craps out... 107,000 miles..... new gaskets, oil chaged every 3,000 miles, 20W50 heavy stuff...... new injectors...... So... I dunno.. unless someone wants to trade L28e incredible condition... for an L28eT ha.. i wish
-
The truth about headers.....
i am anti V8 sorry I personally love the L6.. and the sound of an straight 6. Also when I drive my Datsun Z, and when I beat those Civic's, Accords, and non-turbo Eclipses.. I am proud to drive a Nissan... powered by a Nissan.. especially an "pre" Skyline engine. Since the early Skylines did have L28's and what do ya know, many years later.. still straight 6's just with DOHC and Twin Turbo.. ohh baby. Anyway.. I guess I won't get headers overall, since someday, within the next year, I will be getting an L28eT.. and my headers will be useless with a turbo.. duh Thanks for all your help guys

Best sounding 240/280 exhaust
want a nice sound? try the MSA Twice Pipes exhuast with the 3 into 2 headers.. and twin glass-packs Sounds deep on idle, and as people say "Ferrari" style on the top end
-
The truth about headers.....
hmm.. 2 people have brought up with Carbs... but I don't have carbs
-
The truth about headers.....
so my current setup as in stock exhuast and stock manifold? Or my future setup with the 2.5" turbo exhuast with the stock manifold? BTW thanks for your response
-
The truth about headers.....
I have been searching and searching for the best choice for my L28e..... with N42 head, for performance. My first modification, I plan on getting exhuast. However, ontop of the exhaust, I naturally have a choice for headers. According to my research based off of this Forum, Zcar.com and HybridZ, a new set of headers is completly useless.. *UNLESS* you get equal length headers. This will allow the flow to be improved, but based off of people who have purchased headers, they rarely feel a big difference, other than the sexy sound. Also I have read that new headers, will increase your Temperature under tha hood.... compared to the stock manifold What I am trying to ask, by everyone who reads this thread, is would it be worth it to buy MSA 6-1 headers with Turbo exhuast or should I keep my stock exhaust manifold and Turbo exhaust? I just really want something that I can feel. Will I be able to with MSA's headers?
