  3. simple.. to test it use a 9v battery... and use some wires... it doesnt matter what side goes to what.. you will hear it spray

  5. Recently my car has been smoking grey/blue BAD upon start up. It starts to smoke after about 2 minutes of warming up and the exhuast pipe is HOT then it burns.... so I assumed some oil was leaking... I assume this is due to mis-aligned valve guides.. OR oil leaking from the turbo charger and sitting in the exhuast pipe... which I am still trying to source down. Anyway here are the numbers for my 1978 280Z N47 and N47 head, with that damn turbocharger.. .. my FSM for my 1978 says it should be between 164psi - 178psi so obviously my rings are a bit worn.. but bad enough to require an immediate overhaul? Good or Bad? Cylinder 1 - 130psi Cylinder 2 - 130psi Cylinder 3 - 125psi Cylinder 4 - 130psi Cylinder 5 - 125psi Cylinder 6 - 125psi

  7. Just like Tony D said.. you DONT NEED A LAPTOP!! ... Mobythevan (Bryan Mr Kick arse) uploaded his settings onto my MegaSquirt ECU.. and I drove home with them.. unfortunatly, I don't have a laptop to monitor the settings, or change the fuel or spark maps at any time.. NOW i can.. thanks to Renns (Roger) on the MegaSquirt EFI forums, who wrote a program for the Palm OS, and I used my Sony Clie PDA. There is a real time display, I can log it, and I can change the fuel and spark maps!! How cool is this!
  8. yep heater ****.. pain in the arse to remove and install a new one.. i paid $80 from Chloe.. MidWestZ.. who seems to have disappeared still .. But.. thats whats causes the antifreeze all over the passenger floor

Check under the throttle linkage, so open the throttle butterfly by hand and check to see where the linkage hits the actual throttle body or plate. you will see a small hole, or even a small screw in there. NOTE - you will have to modify and remove the original linkage on the 240SX and put on the old linkage from your old throttle body. It makes more since when you get a good look at it.
  11. Here are some pics of the water-cooled turbo sources.... I tee'd off the thermostat housing using a stock hole and put in a hose! As for the source I tee'd off the coolant fittings for the heater core inside the car, but it comes right before the water pump

I completly removed the BCDD and it runs fine.. no noticable problems... as for the idle, the 240SX's have an idle screw... and if it is missing one, simply find a small screw and nut and use it as a idle screw. you can use the stock 280Z one but you need to drill 2 holes on the stock bracket.. very simple to do.. or use a TVS from a Z31 (early 300ZX)
  14. no it won't work.. it has the pigtail which has a potentiometer type TPS on it.. mine didnt run right with it on..
  15. oops sorry saw this post too late.. DONT use the TPS with the 3 wire pigtails.. its a potentiometer type TPS... not a TVS which you need.. you can use the stock TVS but u may need to drill holes on the mounting bracket.. or you can use a 300ZX TVS.

  20. Just wanted to let everyone know what a great guy Mobythevan (Bryan) is.. He took his entire sunday to help me out to install MegaSquirt N Spark with the extra code!! Bryan was such a great help and I never could of done any of this without him!! I would like to thank him, and his friend Mike as well for helping out with the install!! Bryan not only let me use his garage and tools for the day, but even sacrificed parts from his own Z to swap over to my car!! Thank you sooo much Bryan!! My mods now.. Stock N/A N47 block and head T3 watercooled turbo from a 300ZX turbo MegaSquirt and Spark extra Pallnet fuel rail 3" stainless steel downpipe Large NPR intercooler 60mm TB 440cc injectors 2.5" intercooler piping DSM BOV Converted over dizzy to an optical 82 280ZX turbo dizzy Ford Taurus electric fan (in front of radiator, behind intercooler)

  22. hey Bubbles.. i am ditching the N/A electronics this weekend.. and going MegaSquirt.. for the price it would cost for a good set of Turbo electronics and working turbo AFM (which i have a spare in my basement but has a bad spot) I can get megasquirt.. Lets just say I am buying everything I need for $230 pre-built so I just have to hook her up and upload the new settings
