Well, I’ve don’t think a Mad Max scenario is a possibility but a pause in services and isolated looting of violence is possible, especially is high population centers. This is why the stimulus package was critical to stabilizing the people and give faith in government. Once that disappears stuff can go sideways fast. Look at Katrina. Cliff, I hope you’re wrong but I’m afraid you’re right. There is a strange feeling in the air. You all need to be ready for the worst. Think about your family’s security and being hunkered down big time. This virus is so easily spread and healthy people are dying in days, not weeks. We need a vaccine fast or else it will be ugly and will for sure impact people you love and care about. I’m not even talking about the economic disaster we have to dig out of. It’s not gonna be a fun summer. BTW, I don’t believe the warmer weather is going to make a difference. It’s 80deg here. My first trip- 1 case first week of March. Second week here 40 cases. Today - 1,000 cases and 38 dead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I saw that, wasn’t sure what he was trying to say. Comparing via per capita is a somewhat unfair comparison. South Korea is the size of Indiana and the population is mostly in 2 cities. Seoul and Pohang, you can drive between them in hours. Don’t get me wrong they did a great job testing and getting ahead of this, way better than us. We have a vast nation but still we dropped the ball. It was a loaded question. If you had a county the size of Luxembourg it’s easy to make a per capita argument. We have 338,000,000 people, with people in every corner. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, I arrived in Panama this AM (8am). The airport is completely closed to passenger travel. The airport was a ghost town. We only heard one other aircraft on the radio between Tennessee and Panama (a Delta flight over Atlanta). It was so odd and the sights here are odd too. Roads complexly empty. It’s like something from a bad movie. We had our temps taken upon landing and were told we couldn’t leave our hotel room once we check in. I spent 15 mins sanitizing the jet with my gloves on. The other pilot seemed to have a lower concern but was happy with my cleaning job. I find out 1 hr into the flight that his daughter vacated NYC a few days ago to escape the virus lockdown. She’s a waitress in Manhattan and student. I’m like, “you’ve got to be kidding me”, I’m stuck with this guy for about 8 hrs total in this cockpit for the next two flights! I’ve been neurotic about keeping my hands clean but not touching your face for 4 hrs is almost impossible, it’s a subconscious action most of the time. So I’m trapped in this hotel now. Ugh! We stay at the Miramar Intercontinental along the waterfront., no cabs...we roll in company provided private transportation services. When I left about 10 days ago they only had 9% occupancy at the hotel I bet it is close to 0% now. My question is what do they do with you if you test positive? I brought a tub of Clorox wipes. I’ll spend the first 20 mins sanitizing the entire room and lock myself up for 28 hrs. I need hazardous duty pay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On my way to work, you think the roads are clear on a normal Sunday morning..imagine what it looks like on Sunday morning during a global pandemic. First car I saw had NY plates with it flashers on. Just got notified that I’ll get swabbed upon arrival in Panama. I’ll the be escorted by a guard to hotel who will remain in lobby to ensure we don’t leave until the test results come back negative. This will be interesting.

No, the bag isn’t completely sealed. It closes with a zipper but with 2 damp rid buckets in there it keeps the moisture down. Here are some products that are better to completely keep moisture out. https://inthegarage.com/product/car-shield/ https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cce-ledb18?seid=srese1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxoGZora-6AIVGWyGCh1itAVfEAQYASABEgLG0_D_BwE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Have you guys noticed that there are now new fuel sending units for 77-78’s available at Zcardepot? I had been looking for one for sometime when I bought my car and they were no place to be found, even used. Has anyone bought one of these. I had considered having my refurbished awhile back but is was about $200 to do that so I decided I could spend that money better elsewhere. This looks like a good but if they’re any good. https://zcardepot.com/products/copy-of-fuel-tank-gauge-sending-unit-sender-240z-260z-280z-70-78?variant=31387184595057¤cy=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI19TayNe96AIVEXiGCh0PWQgNEAQYASABEgLk-_D_BwE Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have been storing my Z in a car jacket until I’m ready to bring her home . It zips up and I put moisture absorbing buckets in it. No mold, no mice and no problems. https://www.carbag.com/carjacket/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It’s a problem because most people have not clue how to handle a firearm. I have a concealed carry permit and having been shooting since I was a kid. Guns have been in my life as long as I can remember. In the right hands gun ownership can be safe. ZH, no house walls will stops billets. Bird shot is the safest to shoot in a house. Home invasions do happen. My wife’s brother had one happen to his family 2 years ago in Cary,NC. It’s a terrifying story but the guy was a bad dude and threatened to kill all his children. He was caught 4 month later robbing another person. Got a 27 year sentence The gun stores are cleaned out here. My neighbor asked me yesterday if he could buy one one my handguns. He’s not worried about the government, he’s worried about lawlessness if the stink really hits the fan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, will do most of that when possible. I’m concerned about eating the catered food we get. It’s usually things like sliced veggies and fruit, cheese and sandwiches, all fresh. So I’m packing canned tuna, crackers ramen noodles, nuts and microwave soups. I don’t know the status of the places preparing food, especially the foreign countries so I’m taking extra caution there. New Product Idea. Distributor Timing Plate Re-Design
Av8ferg replied to zKars's topic in Engine & Drivetrain
This is a great idea. I’m in the middle of a a distributor rebuild right now (on corona hold). I’d love to put one my new motor because with my luck I’m a tooth or more off on my oil pump. Seems like no matter how hard you try to hold the pump and spindle perfect it feels like it moves as the teeth engage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Thanks CO. I didn’t see you call. I was up at 4am last night wondering and worrying about my trip starting Sunday night. I have 5 flights over a 3 day period. We don’t have child care and don’t want to bring someone into the house at this time. My oldest is 12, he’s responsible but there concerns leaving them all alone in the house (clash of the titans). My wife, is on the hook for all urgent medical procedures, so she never knows how the days will pan out. We had a difficult conversation 3 or 4 days ago that we needed a family plan if one of us gets sick, we are both at elevated risk due to our jobs. We have two pilots that tested positive already and seeing how this virus spreads so rapidly I wouldn’t be surprised if the number was actually 15-20 or more. We share the same aircraft, break rooms, computers, and crew buses. Yep...I’m concerned. I can only take about 40 mins of the kids complaining about learning before we head to the culdesac to ride skateboards. Now they want me to build a ramp! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

After some of the more recent comments, I too want to be apart of this discussion. This is a unique window into the happenings both nationally and globally WRT this pandemic. I did not want to go down the political rabbit hole and tried to emphasize early on that this isn’t a political issue. It Is a heath issue highly I mpacted by politically decisions. I want to try and strip the political leanings away from the topic but I too allowed myself to slowly Indulge in those discussions. So, this situation seems to slowing be getting worse. NY is on the ropes and not really slowing much. Here are the challenges I’m personally facing and would love to hear what you all are dealing with. My wife is a medical provider, I’m terrified about her working with patients. I have 3 kids all under 12, school is closed UFN. My work schedule is such that I cannot get out of these trips unless I call is sick which I will not do, unless I’m legitimately ill. Cargo is critical to our national supply of needed goods and we are super busy. It’s all hands on deck at work. I have to go and re-expose myself to people at airports, hotels and taxis!l. I’m not thrilled about it! I’m thinking of all the mitigation measures I can take not to bring something home to my family. I began planning for the worst case in Mid-Jan. I went out and bought N95 masks before 99% of the population knew what they were. I have about 20. I may donate all but a couple to the local hospital. I need a couple for work. I’m happy to mail anyone that doesn’t have one and needs it for their job or necessary activity. Let me know. If we have people financially on the edge. Car or house payment maybe we can start some sort donation pool to those in most need here. Don’t know how that would look or be managed but just a thought. This goes back to my comment about influencing your circle. People in here are in my pseudo-circle. I’ve done my best to self-isolate, and ask my neighbors if they need anything. All I can do is keep my family safe by keeping them home as much as possible. Kids are learning new skills everyday. Haven’t touched my engine rebuild since this really popped and my kids we removed from school. I’m spending about 2 hrs a day conducting classes with my kids. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve decided to back out of this thread. I can’t stand the politicization of everything in my Iife...it was one of the reasons I loved this forum.. Society has managed to shove a hot political fork in every walk of my life and I quite frankly find it depressing. Political bickering just makes me unhappy. It’s divided the country in a bad way, divided friendships, communities and neighbors. People do unspeakable acts to others because someone wears a MAGA hat or someone else has a rainbow sticker on their car. It’s not want civilized, loving, and good people do. I don’t like to play in those waters. I don’t care who you love, what you believe, who your God is or who you choose to support politically. I chose to judge people by their individual character, morals and how they live their lives and this is what I teach my kids. We have one part of the political spectrum that demands “Tolerance” from others but they have no tolerance for people who don’t think like them. Any speech is okay as long as it agrees with “their” world view. We fail to recognize that most people are more alike than different. We are too busy focusing on how we differ. When we don’t agree we choose the label people to socially isolate them from society and discredit them many times unjustly with terms like Racist, homophobe or any laundry list of names. Once I realized that I have little influence on what happens in Washington and that I should spend my life force focusing on my family, friends, faith and the things that make me happy, my life is more fulfilling. I can’t watch the bobble heads on any news organization, they all have agendas and I don’t want to be told what to think. I can make my own opinions with out Don Lemon or Sean Hannity telling me what to think. Enjoy the political football. If you can’t laugh at this video then maybe you are taking things too serious. So be it. Labeling me something doesn’t bother me. My wife calls me worse. You’re missing the point. He’s the president and calling the shots...nothing you say changes this. Praising the accolades of what the other party might have done doesn’t solve the current crisis, or hating on Trump. Your home is on fire, yelling at the guy holding the hose wrong or telling him you’re not voting for the same fire chief next time doesn’t help you put the fire out. Focus on getting a solution now. You are allowing your self to focus on things that do nothing! How about offering solutions vice throwing arrows that do nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But I don't think the captain deserves a reward for the job he's done. I think we need a change there. Understood..all the options are pathetic. POTUS made mistakes but let’s not think Biden would be any better. The guy is literately showing early signs of dementia. He’s calling guys out in events to fight in the parking lot....We are screwed either way. Bernie is not even an option, the Dems have already coordinated together to put a nail in that coffin. They don’t what him...he’s not a sell out like their guy now. Is this all America has to offer? Where is the honorable, courageous person to lead America. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

See this is the problem our politicians are despicable humans. I don’t care which side is doing it. We can all point fingers and say...”they did this last time” or blah blah. The problem is we “The People” don’t have the courage to remove our blinders and call a spade a spade. To put all this crap in the bill, solar and wind subsidies, college loan forgiveness, airline emissions rules. These may be worthwhile causes but to exploit the opportunity and a “let no crisis go wasted” mentality when we have citizens dying and families scared and hunkered down is totally unacceptable. These people honestly need to be placed in front of a firing squad, after being dragged behind a horse though downtown DC. Guys we cannot accept this!! You may hate the president...I don’t care! Sure the Administration should has have test kits sooner, or been more frank with the public and a host of other things but and it’s not worth bickering over now. That ship has sailed. We need a package approved that is void of BS from either side. I don’t need a bail out or help, but we have fellow citizens that are not so fortunate. Accepting anything less from your Senator and/ Congressmen is hurting people. I don’t want to see needless suffering or hardship. I recommend we the people get off a political sideline and get on bleachers were our citizens are sitting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rich buying their own personal ventilators and getting tested before others.....so unpredictable. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2020/03/21/exclusive-rich-russians-are-hoarding-ventilators-to-protect-themselves-against-the-coronavirus-a69703 https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-20/rich-and-powerful-jump-to-the-front-of-line-for-tests-and-care I believe people can be altruistic...many people can act unselfishly but the majority of humanity will chose self over others when a choice has to be made. Its easy to be altruistic when you are wealthy. I don’t consider myself a expert in human psychology but life has taught me some hard lessons about what humans will do when pressed. We seek self-interest, it’s a selected gene in a Darwinian explanation of human survival. I’ve seen it on the battlefield...when people you care about are dying and the enemy is trying to survive. It’s raw, brutal and real. We also survive because we can work together to solve problems. We instinctively know we win when we work together for a common good. This is where are are now. We need more ventilators...it’s all hands on deck. Re-tool factories to make them ASAP, we are fighting for our own survival. I pray this approach works, if any country can do this, American can. This is not defeatist, it is a clear understanding of human nature and human history. Give a contrarian example in human history? We can live in reality or a make believe world. People with money will get better care on average than a poor person. I didn’t say it was right or fair but that doesn’t matter. Why are all these Hollywood Elites getting tested when they have no symptoms. They are “special”, you and I are not and couldn’t get tested unless we meet certain criteria. They used unnecessary “finite” resources.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
I said it would resort to “means” rationing. If you are on Medicare you might not be so lucky. If you are Nancy Pelosi, Sean Penn or Mitt Romney they’ll have a ventilator waiting for you. If you have great insurance you are going to likely get better care. Its pretty simple and it will never change. Under ANY system the elite will get premium care and the only different is under socialized medicine the non-elite have to take what’s been rationed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Health care is a finite resource. When finite resources are pushed beyond capacity rationing must occur. Italy has socialized medicine so that means government bureaucrats get to decide who lives and died...unless you’re one of the privileged class in that system. Do you really think Andrea Bocelli won’t get a ventilator? That type of rationing is unlikely in the US unless we elect Bernie. We will likely have to resort to means rationing. Neither is good but I don’t want the government making the choice that’s for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
