  1. ZH, good idea in sending an extra one. I get your point on the business man thing but I think I can sense a the difference between a guy trying to take my $$ and a guy who provides a valued service to feed his family. Its like that book “Blink” the first 15 second meeting a person gives you a ton of information about them. He’s a legit guy with a passion for injectors....there all sorts of people with odd passions....all the regulars on this forum are excluded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks for all the injector advice. I decided to call Motor Man and got in touch with the owner named Howard. Super nice guy and very knowledgeable. He has $25,000 worth of equipment dedicated to injector cleaning and refurbishment. He spend almost 15 mins on the phone with me talking about what they do the process and general injector information. He does a series of tests on the injectors that include, leak checks, resistance, coil check, and flow rates. He tests individual flow rate and compares to the entire lot to see if there is one over or under performing. He replaces the small filter in each injector, new o-rings and also sand blast to remover corrosion and puta them in a ultra Sonics bath for about an hour and then puts a clear protective coating on them. He said the parts for top feed injectors alone are $5 each and will be as such will be raising prices soon as $14.99 each is not economically viable anymore. Probably increasing to $20 soon. He also lubricates the internals before shipping for people who may store them for months prior to install. I’m going to give this guy a chance and report back to you all what they look like coming back. He has a 100% satisfaction guarantee and provides an individual report of each injectors performance. 3. They are pretty nice plugs. I went to several places including Fastenal and nobody had anything other than a typical bolt. So they do look like a pan plug and have a flat flange base with a rubber o-ring. They were like $2.50 each. CO if you need some let me know and I’ll grab them for you. I need to reduce my beer tax I have going with you so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I just confirmed this week that the temp sensor is a M16 x1.5. I went to specialty bolt shop to buy two plugs for my housing since it from a ZX and has extra holes. The guy measured all the holes for me. That’s what he measured for the temp sensor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Okay, that question has opened a small can of Z worms I see. Here are pics on my injectors that came on this engine from the JY. Status.....unknown, they appear to be original. They look a bit dirty but that’s not a tell tale sign of operational condition I know. They are all identical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Looking for some feedback on the best way to move forward on my fuel injectors. I have two full extra sets of injectors. I really don’t think it’s necessary to buy new ones so I’m considering having mine reconditioned. Reading some older posts on this forum I’m thinking of sending mine off to Motor Man. See link below for what they do to the injectors. For $14.99 each seems like a worthwhile investment. I’m this far in their build why put unverified injectors in this engine. Anyone have any opinions or recommendations. https://m.motormanfuelinjection.com/page/subpage/recondition-return-service/top-feed-fuel-injector-cleaning.htm Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Dave, I’ve been admiring your test stand since you built it. I’d prefer to leave from your mistakes then make my own. Do you a plan to copy? The only problem is I need to buy extra stuff, like a radiator, starter. I have extra AFMs, ECUs and other bits. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So for future reference here’s what a ZX and Z oil pick-up tube look like side by side. Approximately 1.5” longer on the ZX one. Oil pan going on today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hey, I had the same issue. I Couldn’t remove the line either. I am going to do an EGR delete so I just cut the metal hose. Probably not what you want to do but that was my solution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. There is no perfect. Those cars come out of factories and aren’t perfect in reality. Your car will be a reflection of you, your efforts, your sweat. That makes it special in my opinion. Keep it up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Got a replacement on its way from Ebay $39. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks Cliff..great point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Dave, I tend to agree with you. Now I need to find one because they appear out of stock at all the typical Z retailers. If anyone wants to sell an extra or knows where one is available for sale let me know. I’ll start digging. All stop....for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. So, I’ve installed the oil tube pickup. I took some pics to share. It looks like a tight fit but still no obstruction I can see. As you can see in the pic its darn close to the oil drain plug. I’d guess it’s about 1/4-3/8” away from the threads on the drain. What do you all think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks. Actually, hadn’t pulled the trigger yet on a new set. I’d be happy to accept a donation and add it to my beer deficit I owe you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks Cliff, much appreciated. BTW, If you or anyone else on here has the 6 bolts that mount the flywheel to the crank...I need a set. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Cliff, thanks for the pics. That pan is the ZX pan in your pics. You can tell bey the shape of the pickup opening. Its more curved than the Z. See my pics of the two side by side above. The fit seems fine. Didn’t feel it hitting anything and didn’t require any force to get the pan to sit flush. I don’t think it will be a problem. At least I hope, I’ve spend few hours removing rust and grime on that pan and put a fresh coat of POR-15 on it . Looks like new. Also did the harmonic balancer while I had all the stuff out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I’m not following you ZH? Should it not fit? I bolted the pickup on the the oil pan fit on just fine. Don’t think it was rubbing on the pan but the pickup might be close to the oil drain plug. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. CO, mine were a little tight, but eventually broke free, I was worried I might strip the head. Try and 1/4” impact driver with an extension Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I checked figment and all goes together fine. The back opening is about and inch further on the ZX. I can’t see inside to verify but I think it will be okay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I saw that but also read that only the turbo had a different one. Read it on HybridZ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. According to Zcardepot all of these pickups are the same but I don’t necessarily think that’s any sort of verification. https://zcardepot.com/products/oil-pump-pick-up-tube-new-240z-260z-280z-280zx Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Okay, so I need to by a new sump pick up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Awesome, so not a factor on my 77 body. I don’t have power steering obviously. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So today was the plan was to get my oil pan cleaned up, painted and installed on the engine. Many thanks to Wayne on the forum who graciously donated an oil pan to my cause. He told me he donated oil pan from a 1977. I need a new pan because mine has some serous dents and what I thought might be a small penetration, from the yard banging it around. So when I was out cleaning these oil pans this morning I noticed that the ZX will is significantly different than the Z pan. I was wondering are there any serious compatibility issues that would forgo me being able to use this Z will pan on a 82’ F54 block if anybody knows please let me know before I sand, prime and paint this 77 pan. thank you. See pics. 77 on left 82 on right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
