I disagree that it’s just about distance. Talking a local limited resource and buying all that is available and gouging people that desperately need it is criminal. So how do you increase the needed resource to a population? You have to incentivize it. How do you incentivize people to bring the resource that isn’t in demand to a region it is in demand. This occurred in my city with roofers and drywallers. Roofers came from as the mid-west and every corner of America to put roofs of houses that needed it post Hurricane Florence. Sure they charged much more and GOD BLESS them, because people got roofs on their homes. The story is different with drywall. My neighbor is still not in her house because the city said drywallers couldn’t charge over a specific rate or they would be charged and arrested. So, now 17 months later my neighbors still lives in a rental with no drywall in her permanent house that sustained water damage due to roof failed. We don’t have enough local drywall workers to meet the demand. Did the government policy help her, no it screwed her royally. No drywall business is going to drive a crew from Arkansas to help us when they’re getting $22 a sheet. If it was allowed to go to $60 she would have been in here house now, but no government gets in the way and we still have over 500 homes unlivable here. Thanks government for helping the people, you made it so fair everyone gets the screw. This is why my new house is still incomplete 18 months after breaking ground. Local workers stretched too thin and government mandating prices. That’s just like socialism...everyone gets to be equally miserable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That would be true if it occurred at the local level. Example: I buy 30 generators at my local Home Depot and then sell them in the Walmart parking lot next door at double the cost. But if a guy wants to truck 60 generators from Indiana on his own dime and get generators to the people that need it....I applaud that action. He should be be able to make money doing it. Otherwise no generators.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m sure I’ll get lots of people that disagree with me this but if they allowed prices on things like toilet paper to go up commensurate with the demand you’d have it on the shelf right now. People would buy only what they need and not be jerks that fill they’re closet with a years worth of TP. You get the first pack at the standard price and every pack afterwards increases by 15% per pack. This shouldn’t apply to most food. But there would be chicken on my selves if selfish jerks didn’t buy it all. I watched a lady with 30 packs of chicken in her basket. Shame on people like this. They should have charged her extra with each additional package. We had a guy charged with price gouging post hurricane Florence. This guy bought like 40 generators put them in a uhaul and drove them to NC from Florida. He was selling them at a much higher price trying to profit from his labor and rentals. Option 1: no generator for people. Option 2: you get one but have to pay more. I prefer option 2. It encourages people to move resources to where it’s most needed. Why truck a generator 600 miles if you can’t sell at a cost that covers your labor and trucking costs. We had people buy all the N95 masks at Lowe’s 2 weeks ago. Now today.....Nobody gets one...screw you! Lowe’s should have said sure you can buy one box and if your want more boxes break out the big wallet! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/price-gouging-after-a-disaster-is-good-for-the-public-1507071457 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

When you tell a German to exercise social distancing the do it like a religion. When you tell an American to do it that have beach parties and share beer bongs and marshmallows skewers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That Germany comment is accurate same is true for Japan. The inability to be flexible, agile and know when a rule can be broken helped them lose the war. The was systemic in the Japanese army and Germans as well: leaders feared making decisions. Both are cultures of “rule followers”. You will be looked at dirty if you cross on red in both counties. This is also why they make great engineers and the products built in their factory’s have superior quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you study the Founding Fathers and read the federalist papers you realize that many didn’t believe the people could self-govern. They were students of history they knew the generally speaking that people’s self-interest will alway take precedent over the interest of others. All politicians are more interested in self than country. How is it possible all these politicians are millionaires. Biden has been in government for 3 decades and is a mulit millionaire. He got that “serving the people”....really. It was never supposed to be like that. If you have ever read The Peloponnesian War (Sparta vs Athens) you realize NOTHING has changed politically in this world. It blew my mind, could have been written describing this decade. The point is anyone who thinks when your fill in the circle on your vote that it really makes a difference they you are living in a false reality. You may have a few issues that are dealt with differently but generally there will be corruption and deception. We have NO good choices. If your read “The Next 100 years” by George Friedman I think it was in this book. He talks about how no Honest and Non-corrupt person can make it to the position of President. You have to compromise your values to get there and make deals to with power brokers to get there. Joe Biden can’t recall where is is 20% of the time. Anyone who thinks he’s a saint is living in a alter universe. This is why I’m not tied to any political organization. I generally trust no politician and accept that the power brokers in the world choose our leader by manipulating the public and funding the own who will play their game. Bottom line....stop looking and judging them on your values. They are all dirtbags. I’ve met many of them. Met John McCain 3x and sat with him and 4 other people for 3 hrs discussing F-35 procurement. I wasn’t impressed when I saw who he really was and someone I previously respected. Only worried about his political power only and his political ties to Lockeed Martin. We are pawns....we are nothing to the political elite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unfortunately while everything you say is true this is kind of how humanity ialways deals with a crisis. People don’t go into action until they feel like their lives are threatened. People don’t stop smoking cigarettes until the doctor tells them they’re going to die of lung cancer. I surely don’t think team blue if they were in charge would’ve done any better. I didn’t hear any of them screaming bloody murder in January and February about this virus. All they cared about was a laser focused effort on ensuring this president was removed from office. I’m surely not saying I think this administration has handled this appropriately but I think it’s easy to point fingers until you’re on the field with the ball in your hand. Do we really think Joe Biden would’ve knock this out of the park, last month he was crucifying the president for canceling flights out of China imagine if we let that thing keep rolling like he wanted. Obama didn’t do anything until 1000 people in United States had died from the swine flu. So my point is this is not about red or blue or this administration it’s about how people generally deal with crisis and we have to depoliticize things like this and focus on solutions. Nobody had a crystal ball nobody could 100% accurately determine how this was going to pan out especially since we were getting some false data coming out of China the whole thing is a total $^!# show. No man is an island and no man can survive on an island alone. We only get through this with a community effort and approach. Some people will die and some people suffer more than others but in the end will be judged about how we dealt with it during this time. This will pass and we will return to of a normal life after a big reality check. A WROL (without rule of law) scenario should scare the hell out of anyone no matter how prepared anyone may think they are. These drugs like hydroxychloroquine a seem very promising I really think there’s going to be some positive information regarding that very soon. Some very good lesson learned in this event is that we have to start decoupling ourselves from the Chinese especially when it comes to our medical supplies in pharmaceuticals. Does anyone actually believe China’s being truthful....I don’t. My neighbor’s boss is Chinese and the US regional rep for a large Chinese pharma company. He told her it’s a cover up. He has connections at home and the number of deaths are staggering. Don’t know what to believe anymore. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, maybe I got the last one, sort of like the last pack of Chicken Breasts I got from the grocery store today. It was $45 shipped, so it wasn’t cheap that’s for sure. But now I’m confident it should work.

Well, the only good new I have is that all the parts for my distributor rebuild have finally arrived. So I can lock myself in my garage without guilt and rebuild one maybe two distributors. Last part (breaker plate) arrived this AM. Really was surprised to see it arrive with all this chaos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would avoid getting wrapped around the axel about the political BS. The disdain the opposition party has for the president has blinded them and damaged their credibility. He can do nothing right and they’ll always spin a negative on anything he does. When he imposed a Chinese travel Ban they called him a racist. That act likely slowed the virus’ spreads. Europe kept its doors open and look what happened to them. Was it really racist? People may not agree or like him but he’s the president and we need unity not partisanship right now. Both sides do this, it what they do. Don’t be fooling thinking either side is different. The republicans attacked Obama on everything he did. They win when they divide the people. Division gives them power. Unity takes it away! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Our first pilot at the company tested positive today. This is a big deal because we all share the same facilities, computers and lounges at the hubs. Who knows how many pilots he spread it too before testing positive. This could get ugly fast. We don’t have the luxury of not touching things. There are hundreds of knobs and switches in the cockpit. I try and wipe most down bit it’s impossible to get it all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dianne Feinstein did the same thing. This crosses political lines. They are are corrupt regardless of your political affiliation. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/dianne-feinstein-3-senate-colleagues-sold-off-stocks-before-coronavirus-crash-reports/ar-BB11rIYo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I try to always look at the facts before making assumptions vs people who make assumptions and then look for “facts” to support their view. Conspiracy Theories are not just the product of stupid people we have some very intelligent people who somehow fall for this stuff too. The fact of the matter many times there is some truth to many of them so it reinforces their way of thinking, just like AK260 said about NSA that is able to listen to phone conversations and keeping all text data in a national data base, I have a very close friend that is highly intelligent and successful but he is one of these guys that is always talking about Conspiracy Theories. We’ve been friend since 1989 and so I know him well, he was my best man at my wedding. He believes in the stupid conspiracy theory that the contrails you see from jet liners are “Chemtrails”, emitted by government to control the population. I told him how stupid this theory is. I’ve been flying airplanes since 1993. I fly for one of the worlds biggest airlines, I know the business. I sent him the science behind why jets produce a vapor trail and even send him photos of me tucked in formation 10 behind a tanker when a I flew fighters. He still believe there are tanks in the jets with secret chemicals. The logistics and people involved in this theory would be impossible to hide, not to mention if the government wanted to do something like this there are much easier methods, like the tainting the water or food supply. But alas....he believes in Chemtrails still. So we know we will never get the full story from governments, so I look at their actions to clue me into what their true intent is over their words. My small town declared a “State of Emergency”. I live in a vacation town and people are rolling around here on bikes and playing volleyball on the beach like it’s spring break and the Mayor had to do something, NY license plates everywhere, people with second vacation homes or grabbing a VRBO. As of now only residents and critical persons are allowed on the the island (intercoastal island). I smell lawsuits coming in the months ahead as the business here depend on tourist $$. We haven’t had a COVID-19 case in my entire county and many will say them Mayor went to far too early. Business won’t survive a long shutdown, many struggle to make it through the winter months. My final comment: Many of us are able to financially weather this storm. Some cannot. I always told my Marines...”Influence your circle”. This means you have an obligation to assist those around you, that are not able to help themselves due to age, $$, or health reasons, The best way we get through this is help your neighbors, friends and co-workers through this. If you have a coupe in there 80’s maybe you go get their groceries. This is the time to give if you have extra. This is a time to be extra vigilant with regards to people in your neighborhood that don’t belong there. I know there are many foreign members on this forum and this is not slight on them or their counties, I can only speak for the US here. American’s ....hated and loved for many reasons that are many times valid. We have a segment of our population that I despise, watch Jerry Springer and you need not say more. I hate airport terminals because your see people only concerned about themselves there. At the same time we are also a people with incredible spirit here, very giving and generous. People here raise to the challenge, we do well when down , we come together when the odds are against us. It’s in our DNA...I don’t know why. I think we are our best when faced with a crisis. Again please take no offense to the non-American’s. These observations may hold true for you and your home as well, but I cannot speak to them.

I put in a part request online about the 87-89’ LSD diff. I got three calls today from yards that had it. The first place wanted $550 shipped. I offered $250 and he said, “no way”. The second place only had the viscous (VLSD) type and the third never called back with a price. No big deal, part of of the fun for me is “The Hunt” I enjoy hunting down parts since I can’t chase down women anymore. But with all this PC culture I’d be afraid to ask a women out in these days anyway. Telling a women she’s beautiful is considered harassment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great read. So we’ve lost over 18 Trillion US dollars in the market since the virus panic on Wall Street began. This is almost equal to the entire US GDP and the US total debt. All this loss in two weeks. Factories closing, widespread law offs, small business closing like restaurants. The second and third order effects are serious. So to me the government believes the virus is worse than the global economic damage and devastation to personal incomes. Most people do live pay check to pay check. All this is very destabilizing. I don’t believe we have all the facts to determine what’s happening but when you look at the actions taken you can see there is more than meet the eye here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

ZH what you are saying make perfect sense. The one difference is the data you had was accurate and verifiable. The data we’re getting is not...This I’m sure of, This is why I think there is more than meets the eye here. So, many will have a hard time hearing this but governments ALWAYS lie to protect their image and control the population . If you disagree, that’s okay but you might live in the same pen as the rest of the global sheep. I’ve seen it first hand many time and was appalled, I called it out and was shut down by very senior leadership. One example: I was the lead aircraft dynamic strike planner for Libya in 2011. I sat on the committee that approved every target and bomb that was dropped. (Well over 3,600 strikes) we had to do intelligence confirmation and validation. The NATO and US public relation strategy was simple. We had a team who’s sole job was PR. Influence the public to ensure OUR Operation could continue to meet our strategic goals, which were to remove Ghaddafi (who was trying to start an African gold backed currency to trade oil in and circumvent the US’s monopoly with OPEC of selling oil in US dollars only to the world market) (US dollars are backed by Oil, Debt and Military Power, not gold anymore) and support a Pro-US new government, What did we tell the public “we had to do this to protect civilian lives in Libya”. This was 100% BS. Libya supplies 25% of European oil and Nigeria was a big non OPEC global oil player too. Why do you think Qutar and UAE and Saudi were so interested too in Libya....because they cared about civilian? They didn’t give a crap about the millions killed in Rwanda . Do you think they gave one crap about the Libyan people? My point is you never heard this .....sure civilians were being killed and we made that the hand we showed the people, but that was the cover story. As far as COVID-19, the government must know this thing is worse that we are being told. If they tells us how deadly it is there would be abstract panic....they don’t want that. They want you to be just concerned enough to convince you to stay home,. If they tell us 1.7 million American’s are going to die (which might be true) the public would go nuts and start hoarding everything and martial law would have to be instituted. This Toilet Paper run would be nothing compared to what would happen. I could be wrong but I’m convinced the government will lie if it has to, to get done what it thinks needs to happen to keep the peace. Time will tell as this unfolds.

Thanks for the tip ZH. I hadn’t thought of checking the plugs before paying. There is a 30 policy if there is a problem too. I told the guy working the front desk to confirm it wasn’t a 2+2 before they pull anything. I’m almost 95% sure it wasn’t a but all the cars in that yard start to blend together in my mind. This car was one of the easiest ones to access too. Next time I’m in TN for work I’m going to check that other yard. It has about eight to ten 300ZXs too. The yard I just found these transmission is very strict, no walking around unescorted and generally difficult to work with. The TN yard is a free for all. Run by a bunch of county boys that don’t even know what’s out there and you can wander all day....but it has a lot of snakes, fire ants and horse manure, and you gotta pull it yourself.
-
Okay, I thought that all 81-83s had the closed ratio transmission and 3.9 diff? Am I incorrect? Here are the pics of the car these are coming off of.
-
So I selected the 5 speed transmission and differential today after landing this AM. A short trip to the JY and I looked at all the mileage and years and picked an 82’ with 226k miles. There was one with 186k but it was a 79 or 80 and I was worried it had the older 5 speed. (I couldn’t open the door to check the tag but it had the dizzy with the e12-80, the and older ZX tail lights so I figured it was an early one) The differential assembly was $120. I also checked at least ten 300ZXs to see if there happened to be a LSD...no luck. There was only one 88 turbo anyway. So, on the drive home I stopped by another JY to get a part for a member on here, while there I found a new Z I haven’t seen before. Engine and transmission are gone but in generally good shape for a car in a junkyard.

Guys I really don’t get what’s going on here. To me it seems like an overreaction by government. We have had other viruses the past, the swine flu or the SARa virus or even the normal influenza that have killed more people than this current one it makes me wonder if the government knows something that we don’t know because they are taking such drastic measures and completely destroying the economy. I think we had over 30,000 deaths in the US last year from the normal influenza and currently worldwide there less than 8,200 deaths so it’s just doesn’t make sense to me. Cases are declining in China it seems like they’ve got this under control over there. Can any of you make sense of this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
