hood/headlight bucket alignment
When I reassembled my car, I regretted not starting with the inspection lids first. It just seemed like the best place to start as I had to go back and adjust the fenders afterward. MTC

Resurrecting my horn (the sans Viagra thread)
I think the gold plated "ring" on the front is actually supposed to be kind of an olive green. That being said, mine are like yours. BTW SteveJ has mine "tooting"...! Awesome...!

Resurrecting my horn (the sans Viagra thread)
Thought I would jump in. SteveJ is working on my horns after I quickly became frustrated with their lack of function. I had the parts plated and powdercoated and then reassembled them with a rebuilding kit from a guy in Canada that was available on Ebay. The kit contained Mylar self-stick gaskets and all the nuts and bolts. The gaskets were a bit difficult to deal with after peeling off the backing. I didn't really like that they were sticky-back. Anyway, I thought I had reassembled them correctly, but got nothing out of them in terms of noise or vibration...hence enlisting Steve to come to the rescue. He may regret taking the project on, but I appreciate his kindness...Thanks, Steve...!

Hatch weather seal that doesn’t suck?
I paid $200 plus shipping for it and never took it out of the box. If I could get $150 plus shipping I'd be grateful.

Retrobelt install success
Not to sound ignorant, but isn't that a seatbelt mounted to the side rail...?

Rear Diff.
Did it originally come with the 5-Speed...? My '73 did not. If I had to do the restoration over, I would have left the original 4-Speed intact as well as the original engine. I would never sell either, so I can still swap both back in for a true "numbers matching" car. Until then, I will drive it and enjoy it.

Rear Diff.
I am swapping my whining 3:36 for a 3:54 as we speak. I am currently running a 5 speed and can't wait to relieve myself of the whining and the somewhat better performance. I realize that it's not going to be dramatic, but I am not going to be autocrossing the car either. 3:70 is what I would have preferred, but I'll be happy enough if the decelleration whine is gone...!

5 speed manual transmission identification
Question...what is meant by an "open" differential. 3:70 i probably what I am looking for as long as it is a "plug and play" unit as I am really not up for an modifications to my current setup. Thanks, Terrapin...!

Parts Wanted: WTB: R180 Differential
View Advert WTB: R180 Differential Hello...I'm looking for an R180 Differential with a higher gear ratio. I swapped in a 5 speed to my '73 and not only is it slow, but my current rear end whines like a SOB when decellerating. I have read that all AUTOMATIC Z's used a 3.54 rear end, whereas the 4 Speeds used a 3.37. I was looking for something a bit steeper, but would accept the 3.54 if it didn't have the concerning whine. Any help would be appreciated. Ryals in north Georgia BTW...I do NOT expect to get a good diff for $100...I had to enter some number in that box in order to publish the ad. Fuel rail and radiating heat from the engine block..
How about some kind of insulating washer plates for fuel rail mounting...? Two holes...one to bolt plate to intake, one the through bolt rail to plate. Like some kind of Phenolic material...? Just a thought.
