  1. I have a carbon copy of Dadsun's '73. I hate to abandon the metal rail, but without another option, I will. Why does this scenario play out for some and not others...?
  2. Starter spins quickly, battery fully charged. I do believe that the timing may need a slight amount of adjusting, not sure enough to keep it from starting. Maybe things will be different during cooler weather...
  3. Electric pusher through the mechanical as retrofitted by Datsun dealer back in the day.
  4. My radiator has an integral automatic transmission cooler. Could the fuel line be run through it (manual trans)...and would it help or hurt the occurence of vapor lock...? My '73 with round tops starts easily, but won't start easily (if at all) after warming up on a Georgia Summer day unless I jump start it by pushing. Any thoughts...?

I paid $195 plus core charge with Harmon a couple of years ago.

I bought a booster for my 73 from Harmon with exchange. All good. The only thing I did was repaint it to my standard. Works perfectly. From my Triumph / MG days...Whitepost for rebuilding cylinders. No one better.
  7. Even if the shop had agreed to pay for it, I would help in the search for it's replacement. Just Sayin'...
  8. My local glass dude found me one without the sun band for right at $300 a couple of years ago. He charged me $150 to install it. Nice.
  9. Good enough reason...just trying to suggest another route to get you behind the wheel. All the best...Ryals
  10. Why not get a correct wheel...?
  11. View Advert 240-Z Emissions Package Emissions Package removed from a 1971 240-Z soon after original purchase. All items as pictured plus air pump and bracket. Hoses are in immaculate condition, as are the valves. That being said...they were used a short while, then boxed away. NOT NOS...! Clamps shown are included...but no more than that. I was thinking about installing everything on my '73...but if anyone else is doing an earlier car and is looking for nice ORIGINAL parts, maybe better they have them. 12. I am going to loosen my rears and bounce on it, drive it around and then retorque. I like it a little high myself...getting old...! Nice to see what happens with yours and mine...Thanks.
  13. Jug...I put new tires on my car last weekend. I bought the cheapest thing WalMart had at $49 a piece...Dextero "Touring" 195/70-14. I did it for numerous reasons, one being to see if my original steel wheels were going to work out as I have a set of really nice original wheel covers that I ultimately want to use (I think the Turbines look good, too...!). Second was to see what effect CORRECT size tires would have on the ride height. Third reason was the tires on the Turbines were from 1999. They could be unsafe and may very well have torn belts within them causing ride / handling issues. I will say that the car rides and handles much better. I will also say that I feel safer...more confident so I can concentrate on the road and the car, rather than the tires. I would now like to do the same thing it sounds like you are doing, loosening the bushings wherever possible and (maybe) putting weight in the car and (possibly) bouncing the suspension in an effort to lower its stance...? I am as skeptical as it sounds like you are...but worth a shot. I bought a set of NOS rear springs that will be my next move along with the originals on the front as I really want a stock stance. Until then, I will work on sorting electrical demons in an effort at getting the car reliably on the road. All the best...Ryals

I have found Steve's repro rubber parts to be (generally) worth the price.
  15. I get the feeling they didn't really enjoy having to deal with the general public as a retail entity. With respect to the springs...I think it's a case of bad engineering.

  17. No...I bought them from Z Car Source of Arizona. Again, I apologize for mis-stating their name. I waited months for them to confirm their testing of what I was told were "stock ride height" springs. When I received the springs, they weren't marked as to front or rear (other than a purple marker slash). When I called to ask which were which, I distinctly remember the young man being short and condescending. This thread began based on the fact that ZCSA's springs are not right...I agreed based on my experience. I did not buy them on Ebay...I bought them from a company with whom I had spent over $5,000 that year and trusted their integrity. I was wrong.
  18. Yes. Any or all of the above. Sorry if I stated their name in error. Not sure what kind of "testing" they did on these springs, but I am not the only one who got the "lifted" stance. I'll write it off as a mistake and move on...Ryals
  19. An interesting perspective, Marty. The struts are KYB Excel...Hmmmm...!
  20. Here are a few pics of my car with the Arizona Z Source "stock height" springs. AZS assured me that they were correct and tested for the 240-Z. I like the firm ride, but not the 4x4 look. I recently purchased a pair of NOS rear springs and will continue my search for NOS fronts. (The fronts carry two different part numbers BTW) I have also recently acquired a full set of springs from a 48,000 mile car and wonder if they are still, after 50 years bearing the weight of a '71 Z, a viable (wise) option. Any thoughts...?
  21. Maybe something for RHD cars...?
  22. So I wonder what the two threaded holes are below the fresh air damper cable clamp behind the glove box on the right of the blower motor...? A/C stuff...?

Turned mine around and what do you know...BRAKES...! Thanks...!

So which direction should the arrow point...?
