Fuel recommendation for a '73 240z with rebuilt engine and SU carbs?
I have spent most of my life involved with Triumph TR4's with twin SU's. Two things I'd like to add...When using either the "tool' (UniSyn) or the "hose" method to synch the carbs, the two carbs need to have their linkages separated from one another. There should be some clamping device that holds the two throttle shafts static as one. It must be loosened so that you are adjusting only one carb at the time. Another comment is that hose diameter used in the "hose" method must be big enough to hear through...more like a garden hose (3/4"). That has been my experience anyway. Best to just buy a UniSyn guage and be done with the guessing. With respect to raising the piston 1/16" with a screwdriver - Right on...! Exactly the way it is done. Fantastic thread entry, RacerX...!

What is this part
I have one of those switches on the hatch jamb of my 73. The hole is in the lower right corner. I find a part number of 36011-89901 for a "Tail Gate Switch" in CarPartsManual.com..but I don't believe it to be the same. I can confirm that my car DID have an alarm system installed by Chapman Alarms, as the original owner (a friend of mine's wife) worked for them and they installed the system for half-price. Seems like it would have been a nice feature to have the dome light come on when the hatch was opened if it were an original switch for that purpose. As the parts diagram shows a switch for the "tail gate", I am going to check the wiring harness to see if provisions were made for such an animal (wiring was provided for an electric fuel pump, so it is possible) and what it would take to reinstall the switch I have. I'm way late for this thread, but was curious about the switch I found in my box of tricks...Ryals

Drove my 73 8 miles until it quit...
Hello everyone...I drove my 73 with round tops about 8 miles for it's first half-tank of gas. about a tenth of a mile from home it died. No gas in filter. I'm running on a mechanical pump only and it seemed to be doing fine. I checked that the diaphram is good (essentially new) and all lines are new. Tank has been cleaned, new steel lines, etc. Any thoughts...? Thanks...Ryals in north Georgia

Engine rebuild smoking
I would think it's a bad ring...but threw the carb stuff at anyone who cares...!

Engine rebuild smoking
Too Rich...? Remove air filter cover, take a thin, flathead screwdriver and raise the carb piston about 1/16" to 1/8"...if it starts to die, it's too lean. If the RPMs increase, it's too rich. From a lifelong Triumph owner...!

Suspension rides too high - What are my options? ('72 240Z)
- Re Plating my horns
I am in the process of reassembling my horns. Is there a paper "spacer" between both sides of the thin metal plate...? Thanks...Ryals- More Spring Questions
Clay...Did you ever swap springs...? I bought Z Source springs and my car sits really high. I'm about to get it back on the road after a 4 year restoration, so I thought I would see if it "settles" any. Any thoughts from your experience...? Steve...? ValpoZ...? Ryals in Ellijay- Suspension rides too high - What are my options? ('72 240Z)
I have the same problem with Z Source "stock" springs. I was told I got the first set after extensive "testing" had been completed. I did not want a lowered stance, so I got a "lifted" one instead...! I am still working on my car before it is put back on the road...I'll make my decision after I drop it down and drive it for a while. That being said, I hear that Z Source folded. They were never friendly, always right about everything, always in a hurry...just my observation.- Parts Wanted: Wanted: Radio Faceplate
