  1. At least you wouldn't have to put studs when out driving on the ice.
  2. ok, now this has to rate the "this thread is useless without pics" smiley. Sounds like it's time to call in the professionals.
  3. Well, that takes care of having to flip the car upside down. :stupid: To go along with escanlon's post, get the gasket warm, and use lots of soapy water.
  4. They are probably better than the exhaust pros on huron near me. I would thought they could have tweaked mine better when putting it on. But I had a used msa turbo exhaust I had them put on with a glasspack. I had 3" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler on my ZXT put on by a shop in Longmont and was very happy with them. I will have to look up their name. They are on 3rd and a couple blocks east of main. I think Bud's muffler is on the list of ZCCC vendors. You will have to check the Odometer for the list. *edit* I know there is a sweet spot for the exhaust past the back of the bumper. Maybe 3"? It might be covered in the hybridz wind tunnel thread.
  5. I see that you are from austrailia, you have to turn the car upside down then start from the top. yes, bad jokes. Shouldn't you start along the bottom first then work your way around to the top?
  6. I need to take a pic of my car to show the wheels and tires. One thing I didn't want to do was to roll the wheel arches. The car as a whole isn't perfect, but the wheel arches are. I have rieken mesh wheels 16x7 with 215-45-16 falken rt-615. It's not really close to what you're going with, but may be good to see what other size and wheels look like. I have the tokico springs with illumina struts with 280z rear isolators. It brought the back up so the back end didn't look too low compared to the front.
  7. free manual downloads here. http://www.xenons30.com/ That is a very clean 280z
  8. on the turbo swastika wheels, 15x6, the stock tire size is 205-60-15 and work equally well for the s30 and s130.
  9. Wow Don, you really brought up an old thread, well after Steve brought it up again from last year. That made me look back through all the posts. The question I have, did some_guy ever get his z car?
  10. And we need pics of the 240, it's a rule you know.
  11. I probably would have gotten some orings too, if I put my snail mail addy in the email. But since I pasted your email onto mine, they figured you would send them to me. :-D I just wish they would have at least contacted me to get my addy. I'll see if I can pull up the old email then send another one, this time with my street address.
  12. which reminds me, I need to get back to advance and see about getting more orings or kits to complete the previous kits. btw, any response from the parts supplier? Nothing from here.
  13. The differences in body shops are as follows,, collision repair- might do a full paint only if they aren't busy and can fit it into their schedule, minor rust repair. Even if there isn't any rust they probably won't do a complete paint. auto restoration-- hourly rate, it's on the clock even if they just glance at it. lonetreesteve has a body guy, I'm sure he will chime in.
  14. press in like normal, then the extra material will need to be hammered down on top of the mustache bar like the old one was. You will have to cut the old one out.
  15. replace all vacum hoses, check for cracked intake boots, especially after the AFM. Clean all electrical connections.
  16. What is the problem with the electric pump? Did you replace the filter that is inside the pump? Is it the stock pump for a '73 or did someone replace the mechanical pump with electric? Or perhaps you need a fuel pressure regulator to control the pressure going to the carbs.
  17. The hitch that our club member has, designed it. Looking at the hitch on the original post it looks like it's only bolted to the rear valance and maybe the top of the bumper. I saw one like it at the junk yard, only there wasn't a bar that went underneath. I hope to make one for my 240 so if need be I can either tow the club trailer or a small trailer for picking up parts.
  18. He's reading this you know. ;-) There are a lot of definitions of a barn find, this is only one of them. The traditional when someone finds a collectable car and gets it for a measly sum and drives off with it. We all wish we could be that lucky. In this case, he drove it had fun and then put it in storage already knowing the significance of a low vin number and preserving it. He did that not only with 13, but also 171.
  19. It's not like modern cars, when it says vent, it's exactly that a vent. It doesn't pass through the heater core.
  20. that sure is a purdy paint job.
  21. :-D at least 5 characters, done
  22. Don't really know anything about specific shops in the area, but about the best thing to check is for a local z club, they may have members that can check it out for you, or go with you if the car is local. When looking at the older cars, the main thing I look at is the overall condition of the whole body and undercarriage. Mechanicals are the least of my worry. This advice is moot if you're looking for a "numbers" matching or completely original car that has been restored and you would want everything to be in tip top shape. For example on my '73, it sat for 14 yrs and the only thing I checked was the condition of the body, it checked out and I was out the door with a very nice condition '73 for $500 not running.
