  1. Nice hitch set up. I wonder what the tongue weight is rated for? With a bit of tweaking with that hitch you could probably make it able to actually tow something with it. One guy in our club has a '70 with a hitch. He towed an mg on a one axle trailer to scca events years ago with his 240z. What the pics don't show is the metal bar that is bolted between the bumper brackets and the body mounts. Just looking at his car you can't even tell there was anything behind the bumper.
  2. 2nd on the backing plate. You will probably see some shiny aluminum where the backing plate was rubbing the brake drum.
  3. If you had immediate squeaking I would say your restorer didn't put any grease or lubricant when installing the bushings. Definitely go with poly, even with stock rubber you aren't going to have a "mercedes" like feel.
  4. The rear tire looks like it may have had a flat spot, unless it's the lighting.
  5. and another, in this one a mount was modified a bit to make it work. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=144664&highlight=mount+install
  6. Marty, Here's a thread from hybridz by wigenout-s30. I'm niot sure what top mount/snubber he used. But he used it the same way using the stock mount. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119053
  7. Yes, the reinforcement goes toward the rear. When I looked the the RT mount it seemed to me that the snubber was the best solution for me. From pics on hybridz it looked like some had to also grind the gm mount to fit the top of the diffy. Not sure if that was because of differences in mounts or all gm mounts.
  8. Marty, Sorry no pics. I was going to the track the next day and I was replacing the diffy as well. It wasn't fun only having 3 hrs of sleep before getting up to go to the track. I am using the snubber and the stock mount. The stock mount in it's original location and the snubber goes in the hole which is already drilled in the RT mount. I am not using the gm mount. zmanco/hybridz, zmanco/here used this method as well as a couple of other guys in the area. We ordered all of our mounts together. I think most of us have it installed. I am checking to see if either one of them has pics.
  9. Interlock is good, but there is still a chance that the material will degrade enough to cause the dredded return of the clunk. Deadweight,, If I could I would compare the weight of the gm mount against the stock nissan mount with the snubber. The only thing I see is less money using the stock nissan mount and frame snubber. As I eluded to, there is more than one way to skin a cat. This was the solution best for me.
  10. I wouldn't recommend those. Search on hybridz for pics related to solid differential mounts. There are pics of cracked crossmembers.
  11. I just had a friend come by for a visit. He used to own auto electric on Wayne street. I was born in ft wayne and moved here in '72 when I was 12. I still have aunts, uncles and cousins there. What is your itinerary and route? I wouldn't worry about weather until you get here. Mostly it's a bump in the road IF it moves in. 90% of the time the weather is great. You only see when it's bad when it's on the national news. If you go through Denver, you'll have to check out our new track just east of denver. www.highplainsraceway.com
  12. Why would you want to leave a place like ft wayne indiana?

    Double @ Infineon

darn bmw driver. Come see how it will do at our altitude at High Plains Raceway. :-D
  14. Are you sure the hose is 5/16 and not 3/8"? How easy was was it getting the fuel hose over the fuel rail fittings?
  15. Don, Here's the Demers vent hose page. This is the same article that sportz had in their first issue. http://www.jrdemers.com/280ZX/tankvents/tankvents.html
  16. It's not a crimp, but since you didn't get the ring you had to make do.
  17. There are 2 ways to use the RT mount. Like you mentioned, use nothing on the bottom and risk ripping the gm mount down from the top. Or use the stock nissan mount, RT bracket and then a frame snubber cut to fit which will sandwhich the diff between the frame snubber mounted in the RT mount and the stock mount on the crossmember. Now where's that cat?
  18. no clamp on the injector side. The ring pinches down on the hose around the barb fitting. Just like stock nissan.
  19. sodering iron works well. The ring is needed to keep the hose in place when pushing the hose on. Cut hose to length after pushing hose onto the injector making sure the hose is seated at the base of the injector. Make sure cut is straight and square. No clamp needed. The sodering iron won't damage the injector barbs.
  20. The original gopro camera mount has one suction cup and seems to work well. I'm sure it mine will do equally well with a slightly heavier camera and different frame. Having a safety strap would be a good idea to keep it off the floor if it does fail. Here's my camera mount in action. The original sessions were 20 and 15 minutes.
  21. You can use any of them you like. Check each one yourself to see which one would be better for what you want it for, not just look at the rated pounds it can hold.
  22. We both had a great time, I only wish I would have thought about it sooner taking turns leading in the other sessions. The tires really were the difference. I finally decided to get some better tires and now I won't look back. Loy was supposed to have 150hp 2.4, not sure if that was at the crank or at the wheels. I have a refreshed 2.8 with 101 hp at the wheels. He had street tires. By the next track day I will have a zx 2.8 with much better compression. We will see. You can see the lap times. 2:34 approx/lap.
  23. The Z Car Club of Colorado hosted their second track day of the year at our new track. It was my turn to follow the other white 240z. And I used my home made mount for a camera I found. $5 for both of the harbor frieght suction cups and screws.
  24. You should be more than able to do it. The haynes manual should have the dimensions needed for the chain tensioner keeper or you could check napa to see if they have one.
