  1. Sounds like the wrong door hinge bushings. After the bushings are pressed in the pin should not go in. Use the vise again to press the pin through the bushings so the pin will form the bushings. The bushings will loosen up just enough to move freely without binding. I am very pleased with the hinge bushings. They cost less than $5 at your local parts store in the help section. There is also a selection of bushings that include the chrysler bushings and another set that might work, so you get 2 sets of bushings for another shifter.
  2. What about it didn't work out great for you? If installed properly and with the correct shifter for the transmission( 4 spd or 5 spd) Then you will never have to replace them again. Instead of a round file to file inside the bushing, use the vise and press the pin through, letting the bushing form around the pin. Use a flat file to crefully file down the sides till it just fits between the ears.
  3. I was wondering how he pulled it apart and lost all the oil. Maybe I didn't look at the illuminas close enough but I don't think you could pull them apart like he seems he did. That's why I would like to see pics of what they look like.
  4. Daniel, the 280zx rear struts are not cartidges. It's all one piece then you put the spring on.
  5. Don't forget to replace all the rubber hoses. brake lines, fuel, fuel expansion tank hoses. su round tops came stock. Very simple carbs to rebuild and adjust. Get the ztherapy.com video. For other tips search google for su carbs and you will get plenty of research materials and tips.
  6. Thanks for going out there and checking it out for those who might be interested in it.
  7. Keep in mind there are ebay sellers out there that sell shortened shifters and tout them as short throw shifters. A true short throw shifter has a longer pivot below the pin. When they cut a couple inches off the top of the shifter it is only a short shifter. Check my gallery for pics and mods to the late 5 spd transmission for a short throw shifter. Unless you're going to take the car raciong on a road course then the stock shifter is fine.
  8. You have to swap the spdo cog from the carrier out of your old transmission to the spdo cog carrier of the automatic. Unless you have a 3.7 rearend already.
  9. Here is a pic of the ever elusive lonetreesteve's nicely done 240z. credit to John Scott on hybridz. Who also has a very nice v8 conversion. Once I see more pics in one place I will post the url.
  10. cool, let us know. Thanks. Not that I would want to buy it, but there might be someone else interested.
  11. Yeah, I know you like the stock wheels and low profile tires, I was just trying to talk you into how nice a set of 15" swastikas with 60 series would look on your car. ;-) Maybe it was john scott from hybridz that was taking other pics.
  12. The house with the dark roof between the 2 light brown roofs. The car is on the north side of the house. Yes, on the right.
  13. Maybe not when she has owned it, but from the pics I still can't make out the side marker lights or cut outs. In case you do decide to check it out, it's under the green tarp in this pic. http://www.google.com/maphp?hl=en&q=&ie=UTF8&z=19&ll=39.588586,-105.107966&spn=0.00094,0.001808&t=h&om=1
  14. I do what I can to rub it in,,,, wait that doesn't sound right talking man to man. I'm sure there will be other events to make it to, just not as fun as the track days. If they get the up to date Odometer on line it will have the date, times and directions for the track day. Steve's car looks great, although it looks like he has 13" wheels on it. I think he has 60 series 14".
  15. There are still a few old diehards in the club who go to all the outings and track days. The 280z may or not be Walt Carron in your pick. I'm not sure how long he has been with the club but I do know he still has a brown 280z. Now it has a 327 in it. I don't know whose cars the others might be in the pic. The track days would attract quite a few people although the 1st gen was a little lacking. Depending on the drive we can usually get at least 10 cars show up. We had a very good showing of 1st gens today, at least a dozen.
  16. Yeah, I forget some people have a life, I just wanted to yank your chain a little. ;-) How's your schedule look for the 7th? Steve won't bring his 240. There are dirt roads to get to the track. I'm sure there will be someone to give you a ride. Let me know and I can give you better directions if you can't find it on the zccc.org forum.
  17. lonetreesteve showed up and also 240zman(daniel). wlfcolorado (flake)(j/k) ;-) wasn't able to make it. Daniel is a regular zccc member. Steve has a very retsored 240z, Daniel a very nice '73 240. I brought my 82 zxt. I know both Steve and Daniel took quite a few pics. Hopefully they will post them when they get a chance. We still had 49 cars show up. Even a couple of roadsters from the colorado wyoming roadster club. Oct 7th we will have another track day at the state patrol track in golden.
  18. Well, at least you can practice with the clutch before you put in the 5 spd. :-D
  19. put the pics up already,,,,,cheesh!! ;-)
  20. Did you tighten the pivot bolts that mount to the engine block bracket?
  21. There are stipulations even with the unlimited mileage. It cannot be a daily driver and can only be used for pleasure or car club events.
  22. And you didn't let anyone here know you were coming out?
  23. Warren/customlock has a new 3 spd auto. I'm pretty sure he wants to sell it. I'm not sure if he frequents this forum, but he usually haunts zcar and hybridz.
