The '73 also has a filter inside the electric pump. While on the track my car needed both pumps working. The electric pump was uhooked, it was fine for the street but under load in the straights it would starve for fuel. I use a filter before the electric pump, the filter in the eletric pump and the filter before the mechanical pump. btw, I have a 2.8 running the round top su's.

glad you found it. Usually it's in a very conspicuous place

How are the vacuum line/lines that come out the firewall? Usually one or two become brittle. crack or disconnected. They hook up to a vacuum tank on the pass side strut tower.
  4. lonetreesteve keeps tabs on early 240z's going up on ebay. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/member.php?u=6600 I didn't find any one by newclubsman. Maybe there could be a forum for travelling z people. But then there are a lot of sub forums already, just a thought.

Carl, I have a '73, if I wanted a 15/16" mc I can get the 79 zx mc direct replacement except having to adjust the rod length. Didn't the earlier 240 have the front and rear reserviours reversed from the later 240's?
  6. Probably not, what's bryans screen name? When was he here? yeah, the altitude does get to you. It still gets to me especially when I go over the mtns to the western slope. And I've been here since '72. And I just noticed, you snubbed lonetreesteve too, but that's ok, even if you did PM him he probably never would have responded anyway, he never reads his pm's ;-)

You can check to see if is leaking out the back and into or through the firewall. There is a thread on hybridz about a reaction disc in the booster that might have fallen out of place, I'm not sure of the symptoms if that is the case.

could be a bad master cylinder. Where did you get it?

Are you getting fluid to the calipers when you bleed them? denver/aurora line, that's a big line. cross streets? I'm in broomfield.

Did you replace the calipers? If so are the bleed screws on top? You don't need to bench bleed the z/zx master cylinders. They have the bleed screws already and can run a hose from there to the resivours. What part of denver are you in? yr and model z?
  11. you were in denver and never called? You just see if I call when I'm in beaverton oregon. :-P As far as body shops go, most of them are in only for insurance collision repair and rarely do complete paint jobs any more. There are a few in the Denver area that do complete restoration and you do pay for it. You might find a small repair shop that will take on a complete paint job as they have time for it, but don't expect it back in less than a month. Next time you're in Denver let me know. Maybe there will be a car show or something worth going to see.

was all this done while the tank was still in the car? Just curious. Glad you figured it out.

zmanco on hybridz used this as a break in procedure. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

Yeah, they locked then deleted the thread on zcar. The one from hybridz is still up, but close to getting locked and pulled.

hmm majority forums opinions zcar, hybridz, classiczcars all took you to task about how you handled the situation and was beat down for it. Zdriver has been spotty today or else there would have been 4. Trying all the forums to try and get someone to see your side got you one sympathy vote. Take the majority opinion and go with that the next time you have the urge to endanger your life and that of your GF.

The bolts should come off as well. Get a block of wood or a rubber mallet, it should pop off.
  17. It's your car do what you want with it. But it does look like it was very well taken care of and some things were done above what any maaco shop woul have done. The suspension parts were painted, as well as the crossmember. These looked like they were all taken off to paint.
  18. The exhaust could be rusted out under the heat shield. Get a stethascope or piece of rubber hose to narrow down where the leak is coming from.
  19. Looks like a heat shield.

Not my car or anyone I know. Looks like he has all the parts to make it complete and the body work is all done. Would be a perfect car for resto completion. http://denver.craigslist.org/car/186339608.html

What did the rest of the car look like?
  22. There are some that want to get issues that they don't have. I bought a couple off of ebay for about $7-$10. One of them was the premere issue for zcar. I have all the issues of zcar and sportz. I like to browse thru them about once a year. Every now and then they pop up on ebay.
  23. There seems to be so many differences in transmission types between US spec and other markets. The top one could have come out of another car requiring the need for a shorter back half or it could be the 5 spd boxes that were in the other markets and never made it to the US market. Is the 5th gear 1:1 or is it an actual overdrive?
