  1. From what I have read, the RT mount was designed to move the front of the diffy down when doing a v8 swap. When they started selling, people found out that you can use the stock mount and a different top mount that cost less than a gm mount. I used a frame bump stop and the stock mount. The bump stop acts just like the stock strap, except that it doesn't stretch like the strap. You just need to cut or grind the bump stop to fit. You can leave a little room between the bump stop and the diff, or make the fit snug. Either way you do it the diff is sandwhiched between 2 mounts. Check the other links below this thread, I am sure there is another thread going into a little more detail.

snow, smow. weather in denver and colorado is over rated. You guys from out of state only see the news whenever a snow storm hits and think it's like this all winter. It is not! Earlier this week the temp was 84F. It isn't unheard of to get temps in the 70's in winter. We have our cold spells and one or two snow storms, but the cold temps we have is a dry cold. ;-) If you continue on your trip this week, a few early z's will make a trip to our new track for open lapping on the 30th for an afternoon session. You have my number in case you're in the area.

One end is threaded on both check valves. The rsolution isn't very good on the OEM part.

You're going to like the later 5 spd. Since it's a close ratio the shift from 2nd to 3rd is a lot better than the earlier 4 and 5 speeds no matter the gearing of the rear end.
  7. I thought he would have been taller.
  8. But then it could also have been caused by a drop bear. Been to Australia lately?
  9. K cars-- had a couple at the rental lot that had the back glass shattered while closing the door. Driving home from the ski slopes in a '80 510, the drivers door glass shattered. This was probably about 6pm and no other cars around going 60 along I-70.
  10. Nice hitch set up. I wonder what the tongue weight is rated for? With a bit of tweaking with that hitch you could probably make it able to actually tow something with it. One guy in our club has a '70 with a hitch. He towed an mg on a one axle trailer to scca events years ago with his 240z. What the pics don't show is the metal bar that is bolted between the bumper brackets and the body mounts. Just looking at his car you can't even tell there was anything behind the bumper.

2nd on the backing plate. You will probably see some shiny aluminum where the backing plate was rubbing the brake drum.
  12. If you had immediate squeaking I would say your restorer didn't put any grease or lubricant when installing the bushings. Definitely go with poly, even with stock rubber you aren't going to have a "mercedes" like feel.

The rear tire looks like it may have had a flat spot, unless it's the lighting.
  14. and another, in this one a mount was modified a bit to make it work. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=144664&highlight=mount+install
  15. Marty, Here's a thread from hybridz by wigenout-s30. I'm niot sure what top mount/snubber he used. But he used it the same way using the stock mount. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=119053
  16. Yes, the reinforcement goes toward the rear. When I looked the the RT mount it seemed to me that the snubber was the best solution for me. From pics on hybridz it looked like some had to also grind the gm mount to fit the top of the diffy. Not sure if that was because of differences in mounts or all gm mounts.
  17. Marty, Sorry no pics. I was going to the track the next day and I was replacing the diffy as well. It wasn't fun only having 3 hrs of sleep before getting up to go to the track. I am using the snubber and the stock mount. The stock mount in it's original location and the snubber goes in the hole which is already drilled in the RT mount. I am not using the gm mount. zmanco/hybridz, zmanco/here used this method as well as a couple of other guys in the area. We ordered all of our mounts together. I think most of us have it installed. I am checking to see if either one of them has pics.
  18. Interlock is good, but there is still a chance that the material will degrade enough to cause the dredded return of the clunk. Deadweight,, If I could I would compare the weight of the gm mount against the stock nissan mount with the snubber. The only thing I see is less money using the stock nissan mount and frame snubber. As I eluded to, there is more than one way to skin a cat. This was the solution best for me.
  19. I wouldn't recommend those. Search on hybridz for pics related to solid differential mounts. There are pics of cracked crossmembers.

I just had a friend come by for a visit. He used to own auto electric on Wayne street. I was born in ft wayne and moved here in '72 when I was 12. I still have aunts, uncles and cousins there. What is your itinerary and route? I wouldn't worry about weather until you get here. Mostly it's a bump in the road IF it moves in. 90% of the time the weather is great. You only see when it's bad when it's on the national news. If you go through Denver, you'll have to check out our new track just east of denver. www.highplainsraceway.com

Why would you want to leave a place like ft wayne indiana?

darn bmw driver. Come see how it will do at our altitude at High Plains Raceway. :-D
  23. Are you sure the hose is 5/16 and not 3/8"? How easy was was it getting the fuel hose over the fuel rail fittings?
  24. Don, Here's the Demers vent hose page. This is the same article that sportz had in their first issue. http://www.jrdemers.com/280ZX/tankvents/tankvents.html

It's not a crimp, but since you didn't get the ring you had to make do.
