While I brainstorm on those front pieces the show must go on! Finished that rocker off complete so it's onto the quarter panel. This will be my first "real" body panel job..... Nervous haha, the inner splash fenders bead is basically gone but the rest is pretty solid. I'm wondering. Since I plan on running flares, should I be getting those ordered and fitting them as I go. I Beleive that inner fender gets cut up to allow for more tire. Rebuilding that rolled bead will suck but if im cutting it out one day then maybe now's the time? I noticed when I removed the outer skin they the upper part sucked in a bit. Leads me to believe how critical alignment etc will be to prevent major bondo work in the future Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

On the topic of reinforcing plates. What attaches to the 2 bolted plate on the bottom. I've tried looking for pictures but never see anything attached! See pic, bottom rectangle 2 holds with folded edge Also, i may have a line on a front clip with better off "wings" his cars been sandblast Ed and he mentioned that they are fine. Hey patcon thanks for responding. Here's the current front end. And a some success at the bottom haha, finished my rocker panel today. You can see the driverside is decent except for some rust in the mid area but that's easy enough to cut out. The passengar side is rough and must have taken the crunch. It's rusty and beaten. My primary concern aside from relocation of the hood bracket perfectly is the messed up top part the headlight bucket sits on. Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

So, the next part of the puzzle.... These images are from a parts car I cut up the other side is in worse shape, as are mine on the current build. For the outer peice I've seen guys make a wooden thing and beat into it but I don't really know how to start in on the block haha, as for the hood mount section, I was thinkin of just cutting some sheet to fit but noticed the fender mount lip actually tapers from inside to out as it goes, this is gunna be a critical part for panel alignment and hook setup down the road so I don't wanna screw it up. My cars are in worse shape. Even more so because they are wrinkled from a front end collision. Any suggestion on rebuilding that section? Maybe cut out the main flat part and just re work the damaged metal to straight on my car? Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Sounds good, yea I wouldn't walk away from a half finished section. I think im goin to finish the rocker area on one side then move to the rocker on the other while the parts I made are fresh in my mind. Then after they are in, I'll move into the sheet metal fender repairs! I'm gettin excited haha Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Finally getting back into this bad boy. I had some life $^!# slow me down plus my bronco needed some love.... I've basically tuned up on side and about ready to install the rocker. Im replacing some pitted metal on the front and rear jamb before i get there tho. Just need my buddys shrinker/stretcher so I can form these jamb pieces, weld em in and ill put the rocker on! In terms of flow.... Do most people suggest working one side of the car at a time or one area. Like, should I fibish this rocker and door jamb area then goto the other side and repeat, or should I continue back and tackle the rear quarter. Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Stripped paint doors to see the true condition.
Hey guys, door has been squared away a while back now. I got this fender plus 2 more for free from a local datsun guy all need some love but this guy has a sweet dent. Wher does a guy start to try and straighten this out? The other fender for passenger side has bad rust up near the a pillar a and down low. This guy would be best to save. I guess worst case, I could cut and replace from the other fender Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I spoke with dispeyon a while back. Guys got talent for sure. In terms of the middle piece at the front that I've cut off I'm just gunna form a sheet metal patch minus the holes. The challenge I have in my mind is recreation of that lower sill/pinch weld area. Part of me wants to forgo the triple deal and just use a thicker guage under the seatbelt bolt hole and then tie the already heavier guage tabco rockers into er. Either way, I think it will be stronger. I generally don't make things less than before ha Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Been awhile since I've posted about the "rust hole" I've finished the front frame rebuild and re attached the inner fenders Nad bow I move back onto the rockers and completing the floors. Which brings me to this, inner rocker around what I assume is the seatbelt bracket is toast but only. On the bottom, should I just cut off the rot on the bottom in the picture and rebuild with some hand made pieces. It appears there's about three layers total here. Inner, outer and then dog leg. Front is a similar situation. It's almost overwhelming but that's cuz I'm new i guess ha. Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Possible fresh chassis for build. Thoughts
Hey guys the whole inspection thing has pumped the brakes on my progress. I've found a local chassis, clean reggy decent shape. Actually better than mine in some spots and worse in others haha, there's a balance. Anyhow, what's the difference chassis wide between my 71 240(and all attaching parts) vs a 74 260. When the car is complete will there be visual differences outside. All my badging is new and 240z so I am kinda concerned ill have issues ahead. Will my 71 dash board and windshield fit hood rear deck kid etc. Thanks EH Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I've hit a wall..... Vehicle inspection
My buddy Ray went to the last meet. Stock 71 240 in silver. And I bought a windshiled off a member in north van, gold z... I however haven't made it out yet. I'll probably come with Ray to the next meet up. I'll check out Facebook tommorow. Thanks Richard Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Chicken an are we neighbours! I live behind Vancouver golf club. Super close to the Petro can you speak of on Austin haha. Ill here the advice of my fellow bc boys. I'll build er into stock form and get the inspection done in primer, then I'll carry on as I have planned. Probably better for the bank at the end of the day anyway. Get her roll g and strest9out the expensive pieces Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I've hit a wall..... Vehicle inspection
Thanks guys. I think i will continue with it id be silly not to. I spoke with an agent yesterday and they feel that provided im not doing some shady half arse work it should be fine. They gave me the inspection list so I can be sure I hit all the points. I've got a local guy with a bunch of cars. We might pull a fast one and switch some things around .... Well see Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I've hit a wall..... Vehicle inspection
It'll be safe, but modified suspension parts etc, having heims in any steering linkage is illegal. Lots of little things that out wonderful monopoly insurance company likes to play at. I guess I could put all the stock stuff in mechanically then go from there. Hell I suppose it doesn't even need paint. It's just the headache of assembly and another full strip to finishbsome stuff and lay paint Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I've hit a wall..... Vehicle inspection
So I bought the s30 with i documents and getting a registration (title) isn't a big deal. I'm basically finished that BUT the insurance company tells me the car was registered out of province and that I need a pre registration safety inspection. Frig, how am I supposed to get and pass an inspection on a car that's completely torn down. My options are put it together and bring it in, or do I continue on the path of building it and hope at the end of the line I don't get screwed somehow and have a car I've put a bunch of money and time into that I can't register for some reason. Ahhhh I'd like to go with build it and deal with it later but I wanted to do marker light deletes, suspension will have heims in it so that's a no go a bunch of stuff...... Maybe I should just try and track down a local rusty $^!# bagged car and swap Vin's. How can I rivet a id plate in Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Advice on assessing condition of old rear wheel cylinders
Hey guys. Over my collection period here I have 6 wheel cylinders. I've been tempted to do a rear disc conversion but read mixed reviews and figure I'll just run it stock at first. Should I just clean up these old cylinders and pull the piston to see if shes in nice shape inside? Any other things to look for. I'm sure out of the 6 I must have 2 good ones! Discussion on idea for "air horn" fix
The rockers are good and solid throughout. I agree on the massaging, i held the quarters up and they will need some flexing to get good alignment. I just wanna research best ways for panel fitment, im gunna but weld but get such mixed reviews on small gap vs no gap vs whatever other method haha. The tabco are a bit thicker than stock so ill have to work around that. I might go the cleco clip route and nick off the top 3/8 of an inch then be left with a zip disc wide gap to weld into. By zip I mean the thinnest I can get. http://www.musclecarrestorations.com/articles/tech/metal-work/welding-sheet-metal.html Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

Discussion on idea for "air horn" fix
There's a local guy who basically is selling a front clip. The frame rails and stuff are shot but those wings and the core support are in great shape. Mine are wrinkled and thrashed because of the impact it took at some point. Im considering buying it for 175 and then cutting and replacing those pieces with nice straight ones. Discussion on idea for "air horn" fix
I'll have a look i was giving them a look ever and seemed pretty decent, heavier guage than stock and seemed well pressed. Thanks for the heads up tho. I'll make sure it wasn't pinched or stretched Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk
