I need to sell this car pretty quickly now. Heres a brief rundown. 1973 Datsun 240Z Exterior fully restored. Its almost perfect. No rust, dents etc. All badges, original steering wheel. New trims Refurbished interior. Once again, near perfect condition. NO CRACKS in the dash. Car runs great, new tyres, new engine immobiliser and new muffler. Period mag wheels. No luck so far. I'm now getting pretty keen to sell this thing. I've had a few lookers but mostly stickbeakers. I'm negotiable on the price. I've been told by quite a few people that this Z is almost perfect. Is there anything else I can do to help sell this car sooner? Nathan

I've just uploaded some interior pics and some new exterior photos in my gallery. They were taken this morning when it was overcast. In the sun the paint shows up more metallic. Nathan

Steve I think I found the numbers you were after. The compliance plate has the following info. Compliance Date : 9/73 Car No. HS30-103634 Engine No. LS24-189527 Stamped on the engine I found the number LS24-189527 Hope that helps. Nathan

Hi Steve, 1.) There should now be an exterior photo in my gallery (I hope). The car is metallic bronze / brown and the paint is in excellent condition. The interior has been professionally redone in a similar colour (seats, door trims, boot trim) the dash is in excellent and has been reskinned. 2.) I'll have to get back to you with the numbers 3.) Apparently the motor isn't the original one that came with the body but it is a standard L24 with Hitachi carburettors. Runs very well. Number later 4.) The speedo says 43000 miles. Not sure whether that is 143000 or 243000. 5.) Has lived in a garage for the last 10 years and is a 3 speed auto. I'll have some photos when I find a digital camera. Cheers Nathan

Hey guys, just a small question I bought a 73 240z automatic a couple of weeks ago. Its in great condition and everything works fine except or two things. 1.) I was at the lights the other day. When I accelerated the engine nearly stalled and it took about 3 seconds before it ran properly. It then ran really rough for about another 6 seconds with the car surging occassionally and I heard the engine "pinging" 2.) On the highway at 100kmh the car tends to surge sometimes in a pulsing manner. The tacho doesn't show any noticeably rise or fall in rpm but you can feel it. I've booked it in to see a mechanic next weeks but any ideas would be great.

How hard ( labour, parts availability etc) and how expensive would it be to convert an auto to manual? A few of my friends probably have the skills to do it but I might have to pay someone.

How do automatic 240 and 260's compare to the manuals? I assume the manuals are probably more popular but how do they compare with performance, resale, drivability etc.

I went and saw that one over the weekend. The interior was in excellent condition with original steering wheel, seats etc. The only problem seemed to be a fair emount of rust around the wheel arches that had been painted over. The owner seems very keen to sell it though and it should sell pretty cheap. There was just a little bit too much work needed though.

I've just sold my car and am ready to buy. I'm looking for a 240z or 260Z in good condition under the $10,000 mark. I live in Brisbane but am prepared to travel if needed. If anybody knows of any it would be great if they could post here. Thank you.

I missed the Nationals in Brisbane. I only found out yesterday! Bummer. There seems to be a few aussies contributing a lot to this webpage. I've just been surfing the other topics in the forums and there is TONS of information. If you're interested in the Z this is definitely the place to be. Keep up the great work! Nathan

Hi guys. It's amazing to see such a large bunch of people dedicated to the Z car series. Anyway, I'm live in Brisbane and am looking at buying my first 240Z. I just had a few questions that I thought you guys could help out with. Because they don't come up very often I wasn't too sure what price I can expect to pay. I'm probably looking around the $8000 to $10,000 mark for something in good to excellent condition. Is this reasonable? Also, what should I be looking for in a 240Z. Are they prone to rust in certain areas? gearbox problems? or anything like that. It would be great if someone could give me some advice. Nathan
