  1. Here is the gap with the longer arm on the right! These were the two 240z wipers I picked from a guy who was throwing them away. Looks like he might not had the correct ones as well. I am thinking to keep it as is and will look for the correct 55R on eBay!!!
  2. Looking at your pic your shorter arm has a more bend at the end than mine. Your shorter one is a 55R I think. My shorter one says 55R but it has a lesser bend hence I ended up installing it on the left. my other one says KE50L which is currently installed on the right. Only problem is with the longer one on the right the wiper at the far end do not stay flush alll the way down towards the far end.
  3. Looking at your pic your shorter arm has a more bend at the end than mine. I might have installed them not based on the stamp. But this is the only way to avoid being too high.
  4. That’s what I was doing - look much better. Appreciate everyone’s input
  5. This is how they fit right now the 240z arms
  6. Guys I like the 240 wire style wipers more. The look thinner when installed as the wiper blade does not sit on the pin etc. which makes them look a bit thicker etc. The lower ones in the picture are 240z arms. My question is one of the longer arms has a bit more inward bend which makes the wiper sit more parallel to the windshield. The smaller one which I am installing on the right side has a lesser bend but it makes the wiper sit a bit diagnal on the windshield. Is it expected or should I try getting another longer one from ebay for the right?
  7. They put out a decent spray. Not a bad idea to boil them as well.
  8. Once u have all clean parts. It is not that hard to put back everything. Took me less than 30 mins. Need to buy new rubber inserts for the cowl top. Old ones showing precious yellow paint ☺️
  9. I think these rubber boats are priceless. Look very snuggly and seems like designed good enough to prevent water drops going inside the pivot. Probably change it every few years to keep them nice and soft.
  10. I think we can consider this happy ending … Ended up using the old C rings. They were easily expandable and then compresses with a plier. The Walmart oil ring which I bought is an exact fit. The inner ring is pre-cut and is exact size u need. U just need to push it out from the bigger ring. Also added some light weight white grease on the inside of the pivots. IMG_9572.mov
  11. Got back few parts nickle planted. Pivots work pretty smoothly. I got an old one from ebay as well so I have an extra wiper linkage with pivot arm assembly. Will be putting on ebay once it is assembled. Let me know if anyone is interested. Also decided to nickle plate my water cork assembly.
  12. This is definitely not the case. I am sure it is plunger issue. Why does it get stuck when hot, thats what I am trying to get too. On my 69 i only had this issue once and after a little tap with a rubber mallet (tow truck guy recommended this!) it worked. So I am wondering why...
  13. I do hear a click but that's all at normal engine temperature etc. When it finally cools it engages the motor and cranks nicely.
  14. Hi Guys, So my car cranks up fine when it is cold sitting overnight etc. After driving sometimes and when engine reaches normal temperature if I park my car somewhere and shut it down, I cannot start it anymore. I mean the starter plunger do not engage, it is getting voltage etc. Once I have let everything cool down it then engages upon start and cranks engine fine. Has anyone seen this issue with the starter? Mine is original which was rebuilt. I have seen similar issue with other car car I have which is a 69. Exact same thing. I have not tried putting a heat shield around it but want to know if this is a known issues.
  15. Can you explain what refinishing of pin and pivot cavity would mean? things to do I mean...
  16. What kind of grease you have used inside the pivot cavity, something long lasting i think? Also, do you think the rubber boat on top is tight enough to prevent water entering that cavity...seems like a rust prune area and cannot be painted. Suggestions?
  17. Update… Project complete. My right tie down on the 77 280z was a bit different. 3 vertical bolts per the 77 shop manual above - found one piece on eBay. The left one I posted above fitted fine.
  18. Picked up these and they are oiled. OD needs to be reduced but inner is exact match. https://www.walmart.com/ip/NOCO-NCP2-MC303-Oil-Based-Battery-Terminal-Protectors-Pack-of-2/55322518?athbdg=L1103
  19. That connection is loose so that ball joint can flex easily etc. so the felt washer is primarily there to reduce possible sequels or sounds that's all i think. These felt washers are pretty good fit OD around 24-25mm. I can cut the inner to match. Thanks for sharing!
  20. There is a felt washer between the linkage and the pivots. Where did you get those? ID 14mm OD 25mm approx. Also, the C rings that hold the pivot to those two linkage rods, what size are they? did they buy them new as mine are a bit bend now.
  21. Did u took it apart once it was loose? I assume it had to be cleaned or may be use some kid of rebuild parts any bearings etc? Or just take it apart lubricator and put back?
  22. Guys, can someone point me to any thread which talks about linkage repair especially how to take apart the part where the wiper arm screws in. Both of mine are stuck. There was a small lock pin round one which I was able to take off. After that nothing moves!!! do i need to hammer that thing out? These pivots are now officially welded!!! how do u even move them. You cannot even hold them and hammer. As you can see the frustration - i have beaten them well but no success.
  23. Guys, anyone has these style mud guards on their 280z? I am trying to find out where to buy as I like the style. Appreciate if you want to share pic of your install.
  24. Thanks for sharing. So mine are correct rear ones. Need to find out what previous owner did to one of the right holes!!! They were advertised as front on ebay and I took a chance as they were listed fairly cheap 😀
