Looks good for $11K
Ad still seems to be up https://bend.craigslist.org/cto/d/bend-1971-datsun-240z-manual/7754666674.html but now he's added another scam ad, 4 I've seen so far. Try this one on CL https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/redmond-1971-nissan-datsun-240z/7760766334.html and here on BaT in 2022. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-219/

I did just that, told him I was local and wanted to see the car. Guess what, no response whatsoever. It's a common scam on CL that catches many gullible buyers out.

They want long distance buyers that can't resist the low price, if you are local and can come see the car they never respond. They then get you to send a deposit to hold the car and then they vanish. Happens all the time unfortunately.

Looks good for $11K
It's a con, the same scammer has been posting details and pictures of cars that have sold on BAT in fake Craiglist ads. This is one of them. Here it is on BAT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-247/ There's also this one: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-229/ posted on CL https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/d/las-vegas-1972-nissan-datsun-240z/7754221656.html Many others I've see, if the price seems to good to be true it is, buyer beware.

MZR
Was over in the UK last week playing with Astons and Spitfires. Went to MZR to have a look at getting a car built up. What a place, essentially they build a brand new 240Z with modern updates, think Singer Porsche but for 240Z. Amazing level of workmanship and quality, the full carbon body bonded onto the 240Z steel subframe is incredible. Henry Catchpole did a video that sums them up. Waiting list is over two years for a new build, so they must be doing something right! Here's some of the eye candy.

Z's on BAT and other places collection
Lovely Datsun 240Z, love the airport setting. Used to fly 727, 757 and 767 in a previous career for a defunct airline down under. Know lots of pilots that had 240Zs. Still have 4 240Z but build drones now that go bang or peep!

Didn't take you long to get your nickers in a knot did it! Never said anything about vents on the c panel, just badges or emblems as you call them. The vents are on the hatch panel as I said.

Love it when these cars come up on BAT. Lots of detail photos that let you see the difference between the domestic Japanese cars and those sent to the USA. Interesting this 432 has the AC control panel fitted yet it doesn't have AC. Also the Japanese cars had the later badges on the C panels along with the vent grilles on the rear hatch. For a car that had been fully restored in Japan at some stage the underside is a bit average, even one of the retainers for the rear ARB is not fitted correctly!

240Z BRE Replica Build-Continued
I would probably print them in ASA. The mirror bracket will need some supports under it when printing, you 3D print guy should know what to do. Also check your tolerances on the file to allow for some shrinking when printing. The choke panel could easily have the BRE 240Z printed in colour if you wanted, see if your print guy can do it. Would look good with red white and blue lettering. Roo

When you do your 3D prints make sure to use filament that will withstand the temperatures inside a hot car and also not react with the UV from the sun. Roo

240Z Bell Crank
Thanks @Terrapin Z I'll take a picture of the ones I have on 8802 and 10991 and post them. I'm looking for one to go on 3801 (May 1970). It should be like this one on 4684 (May 1970).

A few parts I haven't found a home for
The washer with the holes in it came off the outer steering tie rod. It goes over the threaded bolt to restrict the amount of grease that goes into the dust cap. The Stubby bolt fits in place of the grease nipple once the fitting has been lubricated.

Caliper date codes
Anyone know how to decipher the date codes on a 240Z caliper. Have seen lots of numbers on both sides but not sure what they mean.

Z's on BAT and other places collection
Is it really necessary to trash other people's car's on here. It's one thing to question if things are done correctly or not but outright criticism is really bad manners.

280z storage compartment inserts
I got a set in a lot of bits off ebay a few months back. You are welcome to have them as I have no use of them. If you cover the postage they are yours, would rather see them get used than sit in a pile in the back of the garage. Just PM me your mailing details. Roo
