  1. I can wait-there was a car in Texas that was on ebay about the time my son was born-the only reason I didn't go get it-that came with a g-nose-I wonder what became of it? I would like to make a mold of the OEM pieces, and make them available again-but I have too many projects, and no G-nose to mold from! Will
  2. Carl, I notice that you absolutely left out your garage-care to comment?
  3. Some days, there just isn't much better than a hot bath! Will
  4. The urethane will probably add more noise than it removes. It is not a compliant material, and that means it conducts mechanical energy(noise does qualify as mechanical energy). No Carl, I have no suprises for you! Will

Hey Carl, Those pinto wheels would look mighty sweet.... Will
  6. Has anyone got pictures of the individual pieces of an OEM gnose? Will
  7. You're not wrong-not a series 1 console, could be he just liked the hatch, or it was the first one he found, or just dumb luck! He did get the vents for it though! Will
  8. Yes on both questions! Will Alan, you have a PM!
  9. The steering rack bushings are definitely different ( http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7206 ), and a front 280 sway bar is thicker than a 240 swaybar. I am not sure about the others, but having taken apart many of both, I think the rest of the bushings are interchangeable. Will

    Brilliant! Will
  11. I just installed that kit(off the car), it has every bushing in the stock suspension. It does not have any for a rear swaybar, the tranny, or the differential mounting-it does have the mustache bar bushings. Look at the MSA or VB catalogs, they clearly illustrate what comes with it, and they have a stock suspension drawing to compare to to identify what bushings/insulators you might also want to replace. I chose to add the G-Machine allignment adjustment kits front and rear, and actually had a very enjoyable conversation with the owner of G-Machine Inc. He was one of the primarys in Kontrolle Shocks, and gave me some information about them. There are many threads about installing the bushings, and the tip to end all is: BORROW THE SPINDLE PIN PULLER from Beandip!!! Do not attempt to pound the spindle pin out! Will
  12. The current high bidder is the same one who got the series one hatch from the fairlady thread. From the looks of what has been purchased, there must be a 240Z in a garage or the plan somewhere-Might be a good candidate for membership here. I have certianly been caught up in frenzied bidding before (hopefully not tomorrow, I am going to look at-and more than likely bring home-a 1969 2000 Roadster), and paid more than my sanity should allow for somthing or other-to quote my favorite roommate from college, "I don't remember!". I would be tempted with those, to see if they were the stainless trim version (mine are chrome plated). But I could probably get the seller to take some detailed pictures of the underside of the trim just by asking. I appreciate the vote of confidence! Hopefully it will not be too much longer before they are ready-the trim seems to be working out. I will post a progress report and a couple of questions for you on monday, after I talk to the mold guys-they are due. Will

Yep-er, it does, but it is in a neighborhood, and on a property obviously zoned for housing. Will

Get the rear section-if it isn't rusty-that is a very common area to have to repair. Get the seat mechanisms if they are early(round adjusters-not levers). Just store the mechanisms if you don't have room for the seats. Check the vent area under the cowl and above the heater fan-they rust out and need repair(I need one). What about the wiring harnesses? There is one quarter window left! Will

Zoning laws would prevent anyone from doing professional car work in a residential garage-especially in that sort of neighborhood-unless your best customers were your neighbors. Will
  16. I had considered using that same style of antenna on the roof, just ahead of the hatch, or even at the top of the hatch, but chose against because of changing the lines of the car. You have a perfect Photoshop exercize! Will
  17. Alan, I thought the word "more" (in front of the word "help"), but did not type it. My mind was yet again faster than my fingers. I think the car is more valuable than an early 240Z in the same shape, but only to a VERY small market. My value of his car comes from the expectation that it can be properly restored. Here in the US, that restoration will be a challenge. Parts that are not available will have to be repaired, fabricated, or modified from available parts-driving the cost of restoration way way up. It is not like a 240Z steering rack (or its parts) is (are) completely interchangeable with the fairlady piece(s), it (they) will not work in that application. A properly restored vehicle is always worth more than a project car, and most Zcars (even at a Barrett Jackson event) do not sell for what it cost to restore them. Fortunately, it is very difficult to put a price on the pride of ownership-especially when the owner is the one doing all of the work. Will

Nice paint, but they can't even spell, It should be autoshit, not autostyle. They only succeeded in removing style, and adding kaka. Will

Some people have to have more to feel good. Some people don't. Accumulation doesn't change the facts, sometimes it just burrys them under stuff. Anyone who has a garage that nice is probably more into bragging rights that working on his own car-at least in the garage-look at Jay Lennos stable, made for work, not for show. If the tools don't get worn, they haven't been used. That is a nice garage, but would you want to be the one to drop a wrench and break a tile, or stain the grout with oil, or would you want to be the one driving the car after doing the same job in 10 minutes where you didn't have to think about such things? I don't believe a true garage needs an interior designer-if you have time and money for that, you either need another car, or you aren't really into cars, you are into garages. Will
  20. Come on Tomohawk, Cleveland is not that far from the equator Cleveland, Ohio:lat 41,28 at 12:00 noon Sounds like you're breaking the speedlimit while watching Magnum in the livingroom!! anything over 40mph is breakneck, remember, the speed can't kill you, it is the rapid decelleration trauma, or the centripital force that puts you in harms way! The 240Z is in better proportion than all but the early (narrow bumber) 260Z, the wider bumpers are more in proportion with the 2+2 versions of the later cars. Did any of the 260 2+2s come with the narrow bumpers? Would be interesting to see. To me the 280ZX was definitely a transition car. In its development, it went from clearly defined chrome bumpers to the body color clad bumpers that most modern cars have. Though the bumper covers were made to create a more smooth transition to the bodywork, most of todays cars have bumpers integrated into the body work completely(350Z) While I would not call the 280ZX modern anymore, it certianly is more modern than a 240Z-though not nearly as beautiful. The 300Z series finished the bumper to bodywork transition for the Z, and that is part of what makes a car look "modern" to me. I like the quote from Car and Driver years ago, cars look more and more like "a gumdrop on wheels". Will
  22. I think NovaSS would rather have some help-or a big check-for his car. Will
  23. It is good to have you back Brother! I was hoping the clodness of my post would shock your system into the realization that your Z would be gone, and the money would follow it quickly! Now that you have regained your sences, and Carl has conveyed the wisdom you needed to clear your head of all things NEON, enjoy your Z, look at other cars as what to drive to keep your Z out of harms way-and not what to drive instead of the Z. Relish in the knowledge that STR-4 stands for Soon To Reclaimer-for the fourth time (just like the late 80s Chargers, and som many other forgettable cars in the same place in the GM lineup) Something will always get glossier paint, more HP, a louder sterio-just as long as we are willing to spend more money on it, but more is not always better-there is so muuch more rice built in to the American NEON than the Japanese 240Z can with. Don't buy the marketing hype, drive the Z! Will
  24. Approximatelyt 39 inches is ideal for FM-if my memory is right. Will
  25. Yes-use the search function, there are several threads on that. Will
