  1. Carl, I just received an order from VB, among my car toys were 4 pristine ss wiper nuts! I had put them on my order and forgotten them-anyway, still available in thew US, but not available in Canada. I will check the other wiper arms over the weekend. Will

I'm sure "Newbie" could find a station wagon to trade... :stupid: Will
  3. Think about how much damage would REQUIRE the cost of, and the work to install that piece. Most Zs worth restoring need frame rails, floors, seat mounts, or some combination of all three-not counting cosmetic repair. That piece is valuable, but probably not practical considering the cost including shipping, and the cost of having it installed-not a job for a guy with a welder and 4 cinder blocks-cutting out that much floor really takes away the strength of the car, not to mention a car that damaged would probably not have rockers either. Will P.S> unless you are going to mount seats in it for your livingroom, I am not sure your decoration could do it justice!
  4. I agree that not having them ""right clickable" would slow most people down, and I like MikeWs idea, but unfortunately, each poster already has that power in making the choice to upload or not. People have tried locks before (ebooks, etc...) and found that they did not work. At this point in technology, no image is safe-if there was a way to ironclad a copyright for something in general circulation, there would be no counterfitting. Any picture you put on the web can be taken. If it is accessable, it can be captured and posted anywhere else. While I am not saying look at porn, if you check out the industry, the only way they have slowed down the unpaid spread of their images is through the use of paid hidden doorways, and passwords. Even so, an article I read somewhere said that an image is available only on the license holders site(s) for an average of 4 hours. Look to the numbers quoted by the music industry. Every attempt at general circulation insures theft and misuse. I am not going to stop posting pictures for fear some numbnut will steal my images and use them for some plot to rule the world. I post them with the expectation that I iwill find them somewhere else! I post the pictures for the members here, to share what I have done and to get feedback. If you want to keep control over the use of your pictures, limitting access to them is the only sure way I can see. Will Any attempt is better than no attempt.
  5. Among the EFI goodies I have bought, several sets of the new "pushbutton" connector housings, and even the crimpable connectors that fit them(not a pigtail, but the actual connector for crimping to your own wire. firewall grommits, and more than I can think of, came from http://www.jimsperformance.com/carti.html . Jim is great to work with, he uses the stuff he sells, and knows that it works. His prices are very reasonable, and he does not mind sharing his knowledge. Will
  6. Carl, mine from the '72 match your first variety. I have several spare sets- I can check them if you would like. Will
  7. Carl, I'll measure them (an check part# stamps)this afternoon and get back to you. Will
  8. Carl, More pictures, great! I don't know the story, but I just ordered a set of the wiper arm nuts from Charley Osborne, and He said the black nuts were still available, and were probably ss underneath, but he had not been able to get the ss finished ones for a while. All of the Zs I have had have fallen into your timeline in terms of what wiper hardware they came with. Tomohawk, Appliance epoxy paint or powder coat. Will
  9. I need one-make that two, for a '72. I bought one off Ebay recently that was advertised as clean, and better than the picture. 3/4 of it is perfect, but the two bubbled burns(that could not be seen in the picture) on it sort of distroy the visual beauty. Will
  10. I need a shifter plate(indicatesthe gear the car is in) for an automatic 240Z. All you guys who have converted to 4 or 5speeds, where are the left overs? I am actually after 2 in very good to NOS shape. Thanks for any help-or leads! Will
  11. Yikes! Proof of proof :stupid: ! I wonder about the ones we were not privy to...Better destroy them now, if ther is a search, they'll be admissable! Will
  12. Are you sure you want to have Carl vouch for you, I mean we all know all about him here! He even posted pictures! :stupid: Will

Would that be another "Duck" trade there Bill? I am sure the cars are a weel bit harder to come by on that side of the pond! Will
  14. Well, what happened? Was the transplant a success? inquiring minds want to know, and so do I> Will
  15. Harbor Freight! Brass Drift set,$4 on sale, $8 every day not on sale. I have had a machine shop usae a bearing driver on a press, but I am not sure i would feel confident doing that blind with no experience. Will
  16. My thought in my advice was, any way you look at it, unless you just tighten it and go on, you have to dissassemble the hub. If I had the kind of doubts you have expressed, I wouldn't be confident in that fix! If you open it up and the bearings are gone, they have to be replaced. If you open them up and everythingis fine, you still had to get to that point! For $20 and an hour is it really worth all of that supposition? I opened mine up and found what I thought were nice low wear bearings, juist to be thorough, I cleaned everything spotless. There were a few very small scores on the race, but everything else looked pretty well polished! My first thought was to pack it and put it all back together, but then I thought, really check the bearings. I did. and on one one roller I found a flat spot! out of all of those rollers, everything looked nice and polished-except for that flat spot. I would have missed it, and had to revisit the area. perhapse after galling! I made the desicion to at least inspect, and more probably replace all of them at that point. Granted, I am already upgrading the brakes all the way around. No offence intended, just pointing out that when "the other part of me worries that if the bearing is really the problem, it may lead to the bearing disintegrating, or seizing, or worse (if that's possible) and more than likely that will happen as I hit 90 mph on the back stretch..." I would much rather be safe, than sorry...$20 and an hour for piece of mind at 90mph is a purchase I would not even have to think about. Any time alleviating a consergn costs less that the fuel I will be burning, it is like breathing or wearing eye protection. I follow the Nike advice. I just do it. Will
  17. When in this much doubt change the $20 worth of parts out! $20 is too cheep to risk that kind of a problem! If the old bearings and races check out, you can alway keep them for the next time-if the $20 is that important. If this was a more expensive, or difficult, thing to change I could see asking for opinions. but this is $20 and about an hour! Change them out and be done! Will

280Z the gasket under the mirror(looks like yours has been painted on, has probably been squished too thin. Cut a couple of pieces of old inner tube to fit the metal backer that goes under the nut inside the door. Glue the rubber to the backer, and put it all back together, your fit should be wonderful. check car-parts.com for the side mirror-prolly pretty cheep, and still original! WIll

    Pictures? Pictures? Pleaase! Will
  21. All in all, I would say that the car in question had been restored fairly recently, and that the seller either isn't aware of it, ot is trying to hide it. No pictures of where the cars really rust, rust bubbles in the rear fender, parts that are close, but were not original to the car, a few mistakes in reassembly. Still A pretty car, but I would want to inspect it in person, too many little inconsistancies, and A great level of worksmanship that does not extend everywhere(over spray, painted hoses among clean originals, and new. I don't think the up keep has been done to the same standard as the majority of the work! Either the car is third hand, or the second hand found a major flaw that kept him from paying for the same quality of worksmanship. 26th, my '72 kept her habit hidden, must have been a high mainteneace recreational user. I found evidence under the undercoating, and in the front suspension mountings. That's OK, she has had time to dry out, and will be ready to embrace the rest of her life as therapy continues!! Will

Don't disconnect it, put a 10k pot on the temp sensor so you can fine tune the enrichment-other wise on a hot day you are likely to have thick black smoke from your exhaust and probably foulled plugs-with the pot, you can adjust the smoke and fouling out. Keep the car in a good state of tune. (Conventional NGK plugs, wires, c&R, valves and filters) Upgrade your coil with that from a Maxima-I'll try to find the year-hotter coil, cheep from the u-pull-it. Run a bottle of RPX through the car occasionally as per its instruction to clean the injectors. Once the car is tuned up and the coil is hotter, play with some of the aftermarket stuff-you may be very supprise dat what a good tuneup can do! Will
  23. Carl, Nothing much done in the last five days-out of town guests, my wife and I are both on vacation-The babys room must be ready-all mean I am relegated to other service-and the Z waits-probably until this Saturday(9/18). The deadline looms closer every day that something comes between me and achieving it.... Will Hmmmm....At least I have a HOT, NAKED 33 year old patiently waiting for me to "work on" her, 26th is into those "older" situations-even though he has twins...
  24. Hmmmm....Twins in your garage-I'd rather be you than have an egg free face! Will
  25. My turn! Paint on the front windshield gasket! Paint damage from tape on side marker gaskets! Painted carb fuel hose! painted upper hood seal! Rust bubbles on the pass rear fender! Will
