You might try a search on car-parts.com, you can narrow down the search to your local area, and maybe get lucky, many Datsun cars of that time period used the exact same steel wheels! Will

The '72 I am going to rest-mod has tripple webbers on it, it was running the other day. The car was run with that setup for many years, and to my knowledge there was no problem with gas boiling out of the bowls. I will look at its' headers next time I go for a visit! Will

While I agree with 2ManyZs, go look at every Z that is close, the more you see, the more you will know what to look for. Use the search feature of the forums to find some ideas of what to look for and where to look for it!! If something isn't clear, look at the galleries (many of the members have posted pictures that will help!), or ask, this club is about sharing Z knowledge! Will

Ouch! I think BillRamsey has a girl he could introduce you to....when she gets out!

Count your blessings, continue work on your Z, and get your GF involved-not necessarily in that order! Will

My dad always called my first 280Z a PW Z, but he never explained what it ment-when I started dating, I figured it out! I don't think of my car that way any more-ok, my wife is gone.... She can't read over my shoulder from that distance... Seriously, I think of the car as one of the most beautiful works of art on four wheels! I had forgotten about the sports catalog....Hmmmm! Will

Hey, he had no control over where he was born, is to honest to lie about his birth-and it takes some "stuff" to claim NY-and had sense enough to get out of the cold! Not to mention he may be posting some pictures of a diamond in the rough G-Nose! The Z priority is there, that is all the identity he needs~! Will

I bought one of them cameras-but nobody can tell me how to git the pichers out! Maybe it just wants to take pictures of a G-nose! At least your wife will hear the idea of traveling to see a Z! Unless we are pulling it home, mine is afraid of becomming emotionally attatched! Will

An electric water pump is a neat idea, but I don't think in a daily driver 240Z with a 50amp alternator, and the already weakened 30 year old electrical system will handle the added 15 amp drain! Converting motion to electricity and back to motion seems like it would cost more energy than it would save. But if you have $225+ to spend for an $18 part, that may not be important! The difference between a 1 yr warranty and a lifetime warranty, and the steady flowrate versus the variable flowrate probably aren't real high in the justification either! But hey, when everything is done on my Z, I'll buy her one for a christmas present!-it does have the "Aint-it cool!" factor! For a Racecar it makes sense!

I think Nate is right, The Datsun Roadsters also had the sports designation-but no package specifics!

CoastGuard, please realize that my tongue was in my cheek and my eyes were full of devilment when I posted that reply-I mean how bad can you be, You were born in Texas(me too-I was born in College Station-moved to Sav @3), you love Zcars, you have sense enough to move to the south, and you take a joke well, and you risk breaking you neck to catch a glimpse of what could be a g-nose!:classic: I told you you would be suprised-I didn't say "pleasantly, or that I was proud of the info either!:dead: If you want to meet to go over the car, let me know! I have a digital camera and an interest in seeing the car-I have never seen anything but pictures of a g-nose, though I have read-ok I looked at the pictures-all about them-including all of the terrific information-and more importantly picture-on this thread!! Shouldn't that be edumakated-well it is on this side of THE river! Will

Ed, follow the directions to the letter and pay particular attention to being sure the last rinse is completely dry. I masked the fronts, and painted the backsides first-remove any clips-let them dry, then I painted the pretty sides(overlapping the coating on the back) while they were hanging-keeps the dust off, and the thickest part of the coating in the middle-not the edges. Hey Coastguard, Take a closer look at SC, before you start talking smack about the "very back-wooded, redneck, and country" parts of Georgia! check the US Census literacy ratings for Charleston County SC VS Chatham County Ga.-you might be supprised! We have all kinds of folks with all kinds of cars, and as fer as I kin tell, aint nobody ever said that all rednecks are too lacking in taste (wheels excluded) to have a g-nose Z car! I PMed you to save you the trip, and send pictures! I was not going to take your thunder or the G-nose, just save you the gas and time if it wasn't a diamond in the rough! Will

Ed, I have used it to coat all of the exterior chrome emblems, and it does take out some of the "blue" in chrome, but is is damn near indestructable, and completely seals against weather. If all of chrome is done, nobody would know. I bought a NOS set of european bumpers last year, and they will be treated before installation-I have had several factory and re-chcromed bumpers rust through in less than 2 years. All of the exterior chrome on the car will be treated, and so will the aluminum rims after they are polished. I don't believe you will be dissappointed, and more to the point, I think you will wonder why you didn't do this sooner! Take two emblems, treat one, let it dry, and compare it to the other! Will

Try a heatshield and injector fans from and EFI L28! They are cheep, the fit like a stock part, and they are plentiful, polishable, and genuine Nissan parts! Will

I was thinking we make the list, and put it on a poll where members or thread participants get to pick their 15 favorites(however many a cd will hold-tons of MP3s or 15-20 Waves), and that is how they would be selected-it is a virtual CD, so nobody would get their feelings hurt if "their suggestion" didn't make the cut! Will-great, now I am humming oldies(the 70s was 30 years ago)-thanks SBlake01!!! (Aerosmith-big ten inch-lNo, let's not get into that wishfull thinking stuff!)

I considered doing just that on my turbo project, but then I though about it some, and realized that could make a bigger difference with less money by getting the heat out of the engine compartment with fans and ductwork! The Jethot coating drops temperatures about 60 degrees under ideal conditions. If I coated the exhaust manifold, the "J" tube, wrapped the turbo and used a water cooled core, I would be limiting the heat introduced into the engine compartment substantially, now if I add thermostat controlled high powered fan under the cowl, and place a duct to pull air from the area sectioned off by the heatshield between the exhaust and intake manifolds, I would be cycling the air out of the engine compartment very quickly, and thereby lowering the temperature of and already insulated engine compartment even more! A Spal fan sized to fit runs $50-$75 the duct work would be made from a roll of aluminum sheathing-$10 at Home Depot. In your situation, I would try a couple of the injector cooling fan assemblies from a 280ZX-cheep, available, and a stock Datsun part that just happens to fit your block like it was made for it-even draw air from the cool side of the engine-but extending the intake with a dryer duct woud be a cheep way of pulling cool air from under the car! Ask the advice of the girl you are happily seeing, before you do anything! If she is not privy to what ever you do in this, she will not see the good intentions you are showing, and you will easily have a huge problem on your hands! Keep your "girlfriend" as involved as she wants to be-jealousy can't grow in involvemnet and honesty. The other girl can't missunderstand your intentions if you always bring your girlfiend into the mix. If you choose to get involved, get the other girl some help, she obviously matters to you in some respect. There is a great numer of free resources available, and remember that you are not responsible for her, and that being responsible to her is your choice. Do NOT do anything with, to, or for her that you would not want your parents and/or girlfriend to witness ringside! If she is "sycotic" you will have a different meaning for what happened than she will, and that will cause you more grief than you could expect! Get a professional involved! Will

Hey Guys, what about Boston, ELO, BOC, BTO, Sammy Hagar, Peter Frampton, Eric Clapton, Heart, Cheep Trick, Paul Mcartney and Wings, Pablo Criuz, Radar Love, Magic Carpet Ride, Love is like Oxigen, Roxanne, Life's been good to me so far, Livin' after Midnight, Lay with ME, I want you to want me, and who could forget the the classic, "Mr. Telephone Man"! Maybe we could create a virtual "Ultimate Z Cruize CD"! come up with a list of the songs to consider, and pare it down from there! TomoHawk, BambiKiller240, SBlake have some good ones, I bet we could hit them all!

I use POR15, and I like it, but the directions are absolutely necessary! The Eastwood product is easier to use, but not as abrasion resistant. I use POR15 on the high wear areas, and the areas that can't be seen, and other products for areas where I will be doing bodywork. Will

Miami Vice was the show, and Ferrari did supply a real testarossa after the previous kitcar was distroyed on the air (per Ferrari agreement) in an explosion! http://www.thunderranch.com/images/Miami%2520Vice.mpg In the book, once you know the answer, the question is not important! Will

The '72 I am getting prepped to restore, is going to get a similar treatment. After talking to a big old bunch of people who have had cars dipped, and media blased for years before I knew what it ment, I have come to the conclusion that I will have the Undercarriage mediablasted-to perserve the seals in the car, and hand strip the bodywork and interior. Dipping seems to be fine for cars in low to no humidity, but acid pulls water from the air, and here in the South Georgia humidity, that would spell catastrophe! After the mediablasting, I will repair any problems that are brought to light, and seal both sides of the floorpan. Stripping buy hand also will allow me to properly address the humidity issues that have cropped up in previous restorations by minimizing the time that sheet metal is bare. I do not want a repeat performance of the doors in my '73. Will
