I1) would think you could make a simple mold and cast them in epoxy or urethane resin pretty inexpensively-even if make two sets of molds-one with passages and one without. I know they could be cast out of a "firm" silicone. Maybe even a simple impervious Ceramic casting-permanent, extremely durable, and cheap! 2) I think there were two versions-the same thickness... but I can't pull up my parts software at the moment to check. 3) Offer them both ways-making a second mold for such a simple part is not difficult. 4) Good question, as with most 240Z specific parts it is a shrinking market... 5) It depends, enough to make it worth your while, and not so much as to attract someone else to jump in. Aluminum Radiators are prone to cracking from vibration. They must be mounted in such a way that any chasis flex/vibrations can be absorbed by the insulation between them and the mounting location. The radiator John spoke of has an aluminum core and plastic tanks-I will be using the same one in my car(modified turbo installation)- it does require an insulated mounting scheme-not the simple four bolts that the OEM Brass version uses. Aluminum radiators should be cradled in a rubber/foam insulator on the bottom, and captivated from the top with insulated(rubber or foam) brackets. Give this a read-specifically the part about ALuminum radiators... http://www.jagsthatrun.com/V8-chapters/V8-DatsunZ-Cooling-System.pdf Will P.S. If your car is stock, and you want to keep the simplest installation, use the OEM style three or four row.

  7. The Plans for Saturday, March 14th, the day before the Amelia Island Concours, and the proud display of Carl Becks exquisitely restored BRE Rally 240Z are done! Z forum, New Z enthusiast, New Z owner. Young Z owner. John, take all of this Flak as constructive criticism on how to get the most from the members here, not as a personal attack. No one here knows anymore about you than you type! Some members see the continuation "text speak" as a form of disrespect-and it is difficult to see where that and youth separate. While I will admit "text speak" is not my favorite form of conversation, I enjoy talking Zs far more than I dislike it. I am 45 and have lived with Dyslexia all of my life, so working around communication issues are nothing new to me-neither is not allowing those issues to hinder my enjoyment of something. You have time to learn anything, use it well! Will

jack up the front end-both wheels off the ground-and give each wheel a left to right shake. At eyelevel, you should be able to see and feel where the "give" is, and clearly identify if it is wheel bearings, Lugs, ball joints, or the rack. Don't forget to check your bushings, lots-o-slop there with old rubber! Will

Lets not forget the fact that at his induction onto then Automotive Hall of Fame, Mr. K securely and publicly tagged Matsuo as the designer of the Z. It stands to reason that two great designers could come up with similar front end treatments to the same car separately. WIll

  16. Yup, I have looked at the Next Engine scanner for several years. Another member has one and was going to scan a few parts for me, and that never has happened, so after a few attempts at communication, I decided that I just needed to go it on my own-so I bought one. It does require additional software to make it usable and cost effective, I have been researching the proper software to make the scans usable, and to drive my CNC mill/drill/lathe in its native tongue. I don't have a solidwerks budget-in terms of time or money, so I have to find a less expensive answer-and I believe I have. It will be delivered after I get back from Amelia, I don't have the 3d printer, but both SCAD and Gulfstream do, and the gentleman who owns the restoration shop handling Larrys car is connected with both! Simple reproductions are better handled with comparatively simple molding techniques. I expect to use the scanner to produce wax positives for lost wax castings. Will I am tired of telling you guys what is coming, and never seeming to finish. My intent was to show you with a video, and some finished parts...after Larrys car is done. Will

Fishing Icon Fishing With literally miles of beach, Little Talbot is a surf fishing paradise. The list of species caught from this beach is long. Check with the ranger at the gate or strike up a conversation with one of the regulars; either should know what is biting and where. The coastal salt marsh on the "back" side of the island offers superb light tackle angling. From tailing redfish to bottom hugging flounder, ambushing trout to hard pulling black drum, you are sure to find something to "stretch your string." Camping is offered on the western side of Little Talbot Island along Myrtle Creek, approximately a quarter of a mile from the beach. Our campground has 40 campsites, each with water, electricity, an in-ground fire ring, and a picnic table. Most of the sites are nicely shaded by huge moss-draped Live Oak trees. Little Talbot offers the opportunity of sampling a complete cross section of a coastal barrier island. Exposing a variety of the island's wildlife, the Nature Trail is anchored at one corner of the campground and provides a comfortable walk of approximately one mile. The Hiking Trail winds four miles through five distinct natural communities, including maritime hammock, beach dune, and depression marsh and finishes its last mile and a quarter with a breathtaking stroll on the sandy beach. If you choose to hike the trails, always check in at the ranger station and remember your water, sunscreen, and insect repellant. Pets must be confined, leashed (not to exceed six feet in length) or otherwise under the physical control of a person at all times. Tethered pets must not be left unattended for more than 30 minutes. Non-furbearing pets, such as reptiles, birds, or fish must be confined or under the physical control of the owner. Some animals may be prohibited on park property. Failure to abide by these rules may result in the camper being asked to board the pet outside the park or to leave the campground. Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Little Talbot Island State Park on our hiking trails, pavilions, paved park roads, parking lots, multi-use trails, and campground. They must be kept on a 6-foot leash at all times and can not be left unattended for more than a half-hour. Dogs are not permitted on beaches, shorelines or beach boardwalks. Picnic Areas Icon Picnicking The North bath house has a handicap toilet, sink, and shower in Men's room and in Women's room. The South bath house has a handicap toilet, sink, and shower in Men's room and in Women's room. Surfing The north beach area of Little Talbot offers one of the best surfing beaches in northeast Florida. While there are 5 miles of beach on Little Talbot Island, the northern section of the beach offers the best surf, with plenty of space to catch your own wave. Please be aware of other swimmers and always use caution while enjoying the ocean. Wildlife Viewing Because Little Talbot is one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier islands, it provides many different natural habitats. These diverse habitats make for a wealth of wildlife within the park. Gopher tortoise and snakes can be seen throughout the park. The shoreline provides ample opportunity to view shorebirds, and the backside of the island is a haven for wading birds. Follow the Little Talbot Hiking Trail over a cross section of ecosystems, and you may be surprised at what you find! Will PS, let me know if you are planning to drop by, the plans for the Saturday are evolving, I am planning a Z cruize.
  18. Come on guys, Alan is right about this being an international forum, all opinion, experience, and history are welcome, and the perspective from other parts of the world are a valid and necessary part of Z history. Between them Carl and Alan have a wealth on Z information that sould not be discounted. Carl has the USA experience, Alan has the UK experience-these were two different markets handled by Nissan two different ways, please look at both and realize the value in both! Neglecting or dismissing any viewpoint means you will probably miss something. Both put diamonds in the threads, and are strong willed, thick skinned and deserving of your respect. Look at the discussions they get into and realize the tectonic action between them will bring more diamonds to the surface than any calm presentation! Read what they post and draw your own conclusions. Will

  22. While I would never recommend your chosen vendor, DatsunPartsLLC , I do have a couple of questions: 1) Have you contacted Datsun-Parts, LLC? Being that you are close enough to take it personally and with out too much drama, why don't you take advantage of their warranty? 2) If you are outside of their warranty, Why? 3) What sort of hodge-podge oddities have you and your mechanics noticed? I am sorry you are having a problem with a product bought from Datsun-Parts LLC. Will
  23. I hate to tell you, but if a steel blade will scratch glass, steel wool will. Even the makers of Brillo pads admit that unless there is soap on the glass, steel wool should not be used on glass. More importantly, steel wool will shred into fibers that will get into the seams of the area and rust, potentially causing all kinds of problems. Use Brass wool and it will not scratch glass, rust or cause problems with paint, weather seals, or wipers. Will

I don't think Japan got the 280ZX, or atleast not by that name. Replacing the rail is possible, but unless you are going to do it, expect to add $1000 or so to your budget, between having the area trimmed, the new part fitted and welded in...better to over estimate than to underestimate. Be aware, if there is significant rust there, there is probably more...check it out thoroughly, or get a well versed member to have a look. Will
  25. I've been running both Fast and Efast for over six years, well over a year on Vista Home Premium with no issues-but the most common issue in Vista is handled by running software as admin... I copy the Nfast.sys file to the windows/system subdirectory, and use the win2000 install file. The club CD is so much easier to use, and so much more readable than efast...but Fast is the only way to go for the z32. MikeW I found the same thing with my first copy of efast, I cut the Sports and Z files and put it on one disk with the program. Efast and fast are copywrited and not included in mikes exemption-so they won't make it onto the the new club cd/dvd. Then again, well scanned, searchable, and well indexed PDF is so much less cumbersome, and easier to use. Most dealers will give the older version of fast away when the new one comes out. Most of the parts counter guys really don't understand Efast, and that is where the S30 info is. Will
