Strainer in fuel system - '78 280Z
Yes, you can pull the large hose off the pump-it will dump gas so be prepared to plug the hose and catch the gas(with something other than your face and everything connected to it). If you are careful and use a stubby flat head screwdriver you can gently remove the filter...I'll see about posting a pic of the filter in a few minutes. The strainer is about 1 inch long, and about 1/4" in diameter(it has to fit in the pump inlet). Will

Oil Pressure Reading...
Add to that try grounding the wire you take off the sender and see if the needle moves, senders go bad often-frequently they leak oil when they do. Will

heads up - rebuilt E31 on ebay
More Datsun 240Z 280Z New NOS Triple Weber Manifold & Carbs That are not NOS, NEW, or RARE-what a little boy... Is it just him, or is it absolutley amazing that he just paid $300 a week ago to have these NEW NOS Tripple webber manifolds and carbs rebuilt and they still look new! I'd hate to think what they will look like when a buyer gets them...if the seller is that suprised they still look new only a week after rebuilding those NOEW NOS tripples and manifold. Make you wonder at his expectations and how they differ from those of the rest of us... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-240Z-280Z-New-NOS-Triple-Weber-Manifold-Carbs_W0QQitemZ160222297492QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160222297492 looks and sounds more like he media blasted them, and did not coat the bare metal, so there will be a corrosion party waiting to happen when they sit in the open air for any period of time-he knows better and sells what he chooses not to do better with...buyer beware... burnout tips
You are in the wrong place asking the wrong questions. I think you need one of the other Z sites with a younger audience more interested in noise and smoke than substance. But...If you really want to smoke em up, buy the cheepest tires you can find, soak them in bleach for as long as you can stand, and empty the fuel tank, fill it up with AVgas(available at your local airport-but call first, some states do not allow it to be pumped into a car) and tune up the car-advancing the timing as far as you can, install the wheels and punch it. If you did a good job tuning the car, you will see smoke like mad, and you will probably be calling a tow truck to get your Z home. Will

I live in Portland Oregon
Arne, What are you thinking! You really want E or Beandip to be the ones letting her drop anything she wants after that drive, and share a properly prepaired beveridge and a backrub in nippy weather after her long drive? I bet E has already ordered 500 gallons of lime jello and a hot tub(and is now figuring out where the pinstripes will go....) just thinking about it! Will

Ken and Greg, be very carefull not to be led astray by that bunch up your way, One sells his friends cars on websites-with out having to be asked, and is currently shopping for implants for his "roof". One resto-mods new hotwheels for kicks, thinks pinstripes help EVERY car, and one spends more time taking apart and putting back together than driving... They all seem nice enough, so it must be something in the water... Seriously, you have found an elusive Z spot, A good natured group of guys with very diverse backgrounds and deep Z experience...if only Sydney Moon was the ZPS driver... Will

Z Car History!
Carl, I thought exactly the same thing, and I think I will "fix" it...assuming I can get the help of some of the past/future stock class winners-and a reviewer or two... Will

Replacing the roof?
Arne, I think your best bet would be to carefully remove it and remove and replace the foam backing. I have glued several back up, and the 30 plus year old foam always gives up, after being taken down. Also, the inside of the roof must be spotlessly clean before gluing. Will

Z therapy carbs...how good
You can't go wrong, every set of old Sus needs a trip to ZTherapy for serious R&R! Your car will thank you every time your put your foot to the floor and every time "that smile" comes over you, you will know you did the right thing! The videos are not the highest quality, but the information they contain is. Will

Any advice on Z's?
Having owned several of each... 240Z most fun, easiest to troubleshoot and needs the most tuning-with seasons changes. 280Z less tuning, more comfortable and though not as much fun, still fun. 280ZX a 1980s 2 seater Cadillac with more oomph! dependable, comfortable, quick, but unless you have a 3:90 equiped version or a turbo, not nearly as fun to drive as either a 280Z. Sorely lacking in precise handling regardless of power. Will

Don't mess with the Australians
Yair Rick, those are not just indigenous to the gafa mate, we sepos have our own version of those shonky shielas as well, and here they can buy, hold and take lessons on how to use guns! From your comment, I recon its london to a brick that you'd be a gonner in that sticky wicket on this side of the pond! Will BTW, I have it on very good authority that drop bears only climb grits trees, unless there are hotties in the woods.
