  1. You should be close enough to some of the tracks here in Calif. so work on getting it track worthy and have a time of your life! I like what Texasz says, that will get the job done while keeping vintage respect, but on the race side. Good Luck

I am passing on info from one of our Neighbor club members- ClubZ, in which Dan is selling a motor he received as payment of a debt owned to him. He owns a 300zx so can not use this 240 motor, I already have an extra, so first $350 take it. Additional parts are available too. If this is a good deal you may offer him more to confirm the sale? Here is his email to me: Craig, I have inspected the motor with Z Car Garage. Good news! This is a very nice rebuild. Everything up top is new (valves, springs, hardware, cam (appears stock), timing chain, sprockets, etc.) There is no porting on the head. The bottom has new pistons, rods, bearings, etc. The crank and rods have been balanced so it's a pretty safe assumption that the entire engine has been balanced and blueprinted. =) Here are some hi res pics. http://www.instrumentalsciences.com/temp/L24/L24.html You can see a lot of the polished areas and fresh dimples where things have been balanced. You can also see some remnants of the shrink wrap near the engine stand mounts and the tag about valves needing to be adjusted. Nice shiny new pistons! I've got the valve cover, timing chain cover, the oil pan and a complete engine gasket kit. I'm also selling other parts- a radiator, starter, distributor, brand new clutch disk (factory sealed), used clutch, used pressure plate, a used flywheel, some pullies, and a harmonic balancer. First $350 takes all. The engine stand is also available for $25. The other parts are also for sale for $100. The web page has the correct breakdown. Sorry for any confusion, Let me know, Dan email- flyt300@sbcglobal.net ------------------------ Let me know if I can help, Craig
  4. I had some cheap air tubes on and after I replaced them with those full radius (MSA ones), I did see some smoother running difference and power gains too (but not more than a couple HP). The K&Ns are probably more durable but they are a tight fit to get on between the air horns and in inner fender wall, but you can do it. I have mine off & on often and hate fighting with them. I usually make Mrs. Chino do it, she has more patience with them than I do. Regarding the fuel bowl vent, you could put a nipple fitting on the K&N backing plate, or route it to a small inline filter or into a seperate overflow canister. But don't cap it or restrict its free air flow. Good luck.

1st place Nissan shows respect to his roots- the Z car. "Thanks to everyone who voted!! This was a fun competition put on by a great site!! Funny that in the end it came down to a classic and modern Nissan! The Z is beautiful without a doubt, and I would jump at the chance to have such a fine car as a track car!! My baby needs to get me through all the normal daily chores, with the occasional "visit" the to track! For all those who posted that this car inspired you to turbo you own cars, I say go ahead and if you do it right you won't be sorry!! Make sure you take the time and do it right, and don't cut any corners!! If you do this and properly tune it you car will run with the best of them!! " - KAV1 Cool Deal Craig

No, but I accidently put a dent on a rear fender yesterday while moving things around in the garage! :nervous: She's gona take away MY Ride! I'm gona call one of those paintless dent removal guys. Can't believe it, I started looking for other dents on this thing, I mean it's a freaking race car and they are suppose to have dents, but there ain't none! I could have swore there were a couple some where? Ah, it's probably on the other car, truck or van?

Hey Everybody! Did we win? Well we felt we did. That was great! We gave that Spec-V car a run for his votes! Honestly, his car was sure nice with all those goodies, but not so sure it would be running 34 years from now? Kaelin, Cindy and myself want to thank all of you for your support and 1010tire for putting on this car popularity contest. It is little things like this that make us all proud to be Z Lovers, Owners, & Drivers! The comments were great too! Almost as exciting as a day at the track (but not quite). I had a pretty good laugh about the disqualification of poor Team2Loww, just goes to show that things have away of coming back to you. Again, I want to say that every vote made this race worth running! Even just taking a peek at the contest showed your interest and support! Hope to see you on the streets, track or online- Cheers, Thanks! ARIGATO NE! 10. Thanks Mate!
  11. Thanks Neighbor!
  12. Sure! if we can just peel Cindys hands of the steering wheel, you can be next!
  13. To all you who have street legal Zs, my hats off to you! I go out into the garage and just look, but no drive. I told Cindy we need to unload it off the trailer tonight, and by the way I think we should to sneak a ride around the block or two? August 28th City of Chino has a car show at the police / city hall, and that is a day we take to the streets to cruise to the car show and the police block the streets for us. Afterwards, I always take the long way home. So all of you who can drive your Z anytime you want, on public roads, DO SO! Thanks Craig The next car will be a street legal Z. (You better keep up the grades Kaelin!) :paranoid: Dad.
  14. Well, click on the bottom link and try to vote. It will only let you vote once per email account after you register. You can view everyones vote, screen name and location (if they list it). The Spec-V guy has mostly Canadian votes and we have mostly U.S., Australia and many other Countries around the Z-World!
  15. Thanks guys for the votes. Hey Gavin, I really enjoyed your pics for the car! RED is probably my favorite color on cars. Cindy and I have had 5 different red vehicles! I think when the time comes for Kaelin to get a car it's gona be a Red Zed! Thanks again.
  16. We are amazed at the support we got with the voting. We have until July 31st to catch that Spec-V car in votes. As of today we are approx. 40, no now 35, now 29, 27, 26, 24 votes behind. If the Z wins this race, we are going to put all the names of those who placed a vote in a hat and draw out 1 lucky name to give the prize to. Shipping is on me! We thank you for the friendship and nice comments from everyone. So go vote and the LCD/TFT 7" Monitor- Car Headrest can be yours. Perhaps someone else can make better use of it than I. It's the competition that I enjoy, it's been fun. (here is the prize) http://www.1010tires.com/accessories.asp?view=hrmonitor The odds aren't to bad if there are about 90 to 100 voters! http://www.1010tires.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=113
  17. Thanks for the help Z people! Less than 5 days left to give it a go! :nervous:
  18. COOL DEAL! :classic:
  19. Yeap, contacts my have melted the plastic that holds them in place, I agree- wires give up the ghost near their connection. Those are good place to investigate your short.
  20. Thank-you people for the help! We (meaning you all and us too) are gaining alittle, now in second place. Not sure if that Spec-V is worried yet? But, this thing ends in 8 days, and after that I won't bug ya anymore. :nervous:
  21. I was meaning, I made sparks & some smoke. Nothing happens to the ground, just leaves a mark on your metal surface, screw head or steering colum where the spark was. It should have popped the fuse that the wire you were testing was fed from. Sometimes a fuse will survive when the wire is shorted or is touched to a grounding surface. If it is a good solid hit, or the wire is held on a grounding surface the fuse should blow. Now there are hot wires from the battery source that may not have a fuse in line with the wire, so then what happens is the wire becomes the fuse. And that is when the secret smoke is released from the wire insulation burning off the wire. That wire will become so hot the copper glows red hot and melts! Caution- besure you take off your rings and watches when working under the dash or on any electrical. Cause if your ring touches 2 surfaces, say a wire and a metal surface or 2 wires at the same time- you will have an instant glowing red ring burning your 3 fingers. 1 finger that it is on, and then the other 2 fingers on the other hand that is trying to pull it off! So I would disconnect the battery and remove each fuse and link to test, then put battery back on line and carefully check the wiring where the smoke was. Sometimes a fired wire will be stiff or bubbly looking, maybe a different texture from the others, if it got hot enough to distort it? I sometimes get a very bright light to see the wiring and the connections better. Be careful. craig
  22. I don't think you shorted out anything when the red lead is at a test point and the black lead is at another or even ground, since they are hooked up to the meter, it may just take a wrong reading. It is most likely that the tip and maybe the middle of same lead touched two places at once. Some of those test-lead-tips are so long and are exposed to touching more than you really aim to. I have been upside down in the seat with my head under the dash and don't always have a steady hand so I have zapped ground once or twice before!
  23. Oh those crazy things, I do everything I can to keep Cindy from ripping those things off! She hates them. They vibrate your view to a blur! Been looking for some different ones. But it's the inside rear-view mirror that works great. I got it from I/O Port Racing Supplies. You can see everwhere, so we don't even use the side mirrors except to off load the car from the trailer or to keep from running over our dog in the garage! :cross-eye
  24. After getting back from the Z Convention track day we estimated that at W.O.T. (wide open throttle) we got about 10mpg. That was about 20gal of gas that day. :surprised
  25. Sounds like it started out as a turn indicator switch mechanism was wore out or one of it wires broke off and grounded, but then you may have introduced a second problem with your tester lead, shorting out a hot wire to ground, the streering colum metal or another hot wire, while you were testing you wires? It is easy to short out a wire you are trying to test in tight places with your test probe. You can wrap your test probe tip with some electrical tape with only the tip exposed so you won't touch 2 things at once.
