Hello zr240, Our prayers & thoughts are with you on this great loss. Stuff happens. But you know, if you're gona die, die with your boots on! Get it all together with another car and ride again! Good luck. oh, so what did, what's his name? ##!! head, say about it after the smoke cleared?
  6. It always seems the grass is greener on the other side, but once over there we will still find problems that need to be delt with. What matters is what comes from solving a problem. Education and growth. I'll tell you what- I won't go home from a track day with carb problems any more! Along with pride of ownership you get from a classic Z, is also the pains of these machines growing old. How often I feel I need a little more TLC as I grow older too. So it becomes part of your job to keep your baby happy by spending alittle more preventitive maintanance time. I'm sure the return will be 3 fold as you drive her while others watch and admire! Gambatte Kudasai! Hang in there! :classic:

I don't care about original stock stuff, but I just removed an old plastic one and purchased a nice polished alum. recovery tank from Summit. I have more space on the pass. side next to the radiator so it is to be mounted in that area. I believe MSA has a new plastic one for sale, which should look clean where ever you decide to mount it. I didn't mount on the driver side because there is already enough stuff on that side, and I'm also watching not to block air flow on that side. As for drilling holes, I am able to use existing holes on the edge or flange of the radiator itself, so if you are not going the orig. or restore route, look around and you can find a place that works for you.

Hey if you're good with your hands and have patients you can try straightening them first. Too bad you don't have the Ztherapy tapes, cause Steve shows his little trick of fixing bent needles with hand drill that often works. Well if not, give Steve or Bruce a call and tell them your set up, mods or (mods to be) and they would advice the best needle size to consider.
  9. One letter to let the other car know what they've been past by, on the track.

I would bet that your rich problem is just a matter of tuning or adjusting the carbs. Search some SU Carb threads for the basic steps of tuning. ZTherapy sells some nice tapes or SU tuning, will be the best $20 bucks you ever spend. If you are stuck yell and several here will help. I am running SM needles and larger jets and not rich, so most likely yours just needs to be adjusted to run properly or better and not replace them, unless they are damaged. Let us know how you stand and if you want more. :classic: Craig

Sounds like fun! Just expect to hit some traffic once you get in the area, from Brea, Anaheim, and into Orange on the 57 S. Fwy. or from LA area on the 91 E. Fwy. Friday, people getting of work about 4:00 to 5:00 slows things up. But what a nice trip it will be. Zee ya there.
  12. Naa, she was all excited bout the mailman bringing that Grassroots Magazine with Z s on the front! Geez! But, she did say I better get signed up for the June 17th Convention Track day at Willowsprings ASAP. That place is going to be crawling with Zs, that is way cool!! So I gotta count my pennies and get them sent in. Need to break in these tires. :classic:
  13. You should see what delivers my male!
  14. and here ya go Toyo RA1 Proxes 225/50R/14 for $147 each. I am a happy man!
  15. Been looking for some new tires, and everyone local wants my left lug nuts for Toyos. Found 1010tires.com and they had good prices so I thought I would try em. 5 days later UPS comes knocking on the door. . .
  16. I would agree with Phred, these instructions will get you set up with a new TDC mark if the pulley was an odd ball marked pulley.

Hi Frank13, We will be heading down Sunday morning early. Trailering on down from the 60Fwy, to 57 South, to 91 then off at Main or where ever down there. There is a group of trailered racecars that may need to use a different entrance for unloading, parking and getting over the speed bumps once there. I'm thinking we'll be pulling out about 5:15, to get there around 5:45, if all goes well? Kinda seeing if we get the other trailer guys pulling in about the same time?
  18. Welcome WanganKid to CZCC! You have brought your Zed to the right place for education, learning and sharing. Sometimes many people may read a question but don't have a good answer, but sooner or later it does come up. If you are restoring or trying to keep original you are going to search for the proper parts, but if you are not so hung up on perfection then you can relax and use one that has the ole, fit, form & function. I think I just replaced mine with a Hitachi and it serves me well. While you have your head under the hood, now is a good time to check the battery, cables, and ground connections to be sure things are clean and tight. Last week I chased a bad wire that looked just fine from the outside, but was so corroded inside that it didn't ring out with a continuety test and after replacing cured my charging problem. I'll tell you, after chasing that thing down I now have a new batt., starter, alter., regulator, and cables. They kinda needed to be gone thru anyways, and I feel better about the whole system now. Anyways GAMBATTE KUDASAI YO! (Hang in there!) Craig

Hey Bruce, I bet if you brought a case of those Videos to the MSA show, you'ld be able to sell everyone! My favorite part is the end of the second tape, the Z out on the track overtaking car after car! is that Steve? what track is that? oh and the footage of inside the SU at W.O.T. on the dyno! Now I just gotta get a roll bar camera mount for ours. Cheers, Craig
