Willowsprings in Rosamond Calif. We will be having our first Weekend Event September 9th & 10th at Willow Springs on the 2.5 mile road course. This event will be run in the same fashion as all previous events. We will have three run groups, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each run group will get (5) 30 minute run sessions totaling 2 1/2 hours of track time. We might have a wheel to wheel race at the end of both days if we have enough people to participate. When you register please indicate if you would like to participate in the race, for all participants in the race there will be an extra fee to cover the race insurance (this will be a minimal charge). The cost for both days will be $350, or $185 for one day. If at all possible please sign up for both days, and please sign up early! For all newbies or people who want to attend, we will have classroom instruction followed by on-track instruction. As always, all paid participants will get an all you can eat BBQ lunch and an OPEN TRACK RACING shirt Please remember that all OTR events are open to all that want to attend, so please tell a friend! You can sign up at www.opentrackracing.com . Did I mention we need people to sign up early! Thanks, and See You at the Track!
  2. Mark, though you loose a little seat time, but you can gain it back in her agreeing to new parts, hoods, paint, tires and more events if you get her behind the wheel! Worked for me.

Dropkick, Here some interesting stub axle info. Thought I'd pass it on. Good Luck, Craig http://www.magshooterz.com/280z_stub_axle_swap.htm http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/rearwheelbearings/index.html R&R-ing stub axles can develop some interesting 4 letter words.

Yo Ron, Very cool, maybe next year I'll have to give your group a try. If you have any more video cuts send them our way, we have FIOS (fiber optic internet) so down load is a blink! Do you have the finish of the race I was reading about on WCZR? oh hey, OTR will have their first 2 day weekend event instead of on a Wed. Sept. 9th & 10th, which will include a race on both days too. We'll be there. Z-ya. Craig

Here is an example of what a cam I.D. could look like on the end of the shaft. I used a mirror and a camera to get this shot and then printed it in reverse image to make reading easier. Little tricky but possible. Find out what you have as a place to start from.
  12. We were suprised with the dyno results and will probably make another run on the same dyno sometime this summer again. But the intakes are not polished smooth and shiney. They have the slight sanding striations in the metal, so I would say it is more of a rough finish and not polished.
  13. Hey the "Mad Grinder Guy" did mine too. They were good for 10HP on my before and after dyno results, at mid to upper range of the pull. I think the guy is prepairing another set of intakes now? You bet he is for hire... right Marty...

Pretty close match, but I think your paint is a hundred times better. I like the stripes too. Very nice job. We just have the fiberglass hood painted 2 weeks ago. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e98/Chino240Z/HoodPainted.jpg
  15. Marty, maybe you could do both options, maybe more of the grinding option and little of the denting option. Seen it done many times, and it no one will ever know ... except us. just grind some little at a time till it clears. Hate to see ya change out those intakes. I doubt you'll effect any performance with a little dent, and you might not crack the coating? Hey, don't forget to double check the torque on the those exhaust nuts. Couple heat cycles and check em. Then after a track event check em. I finally went with the Stage 8 locking nuts, hoping it stops blown exhaust gaskets!

Interesting, it definitely didn't work on the car, as the old one was fine. Since Pertronix is only 10 minutes away, I just stopped in with the bad unit and just didn't want to swap out for another just yet. If the rain lets up I was going outside to pull everything a go back over to Pertronix and go over some other concerns. But, sure email their instructions over, wonder if it is same things as I already have? Thanks Steve! Enigma, sounds like you should be in good shape! Just keep you wire splices or terminations solid and proper, with all grounds clean and tight. I'm sure you'll feel a performance difference once you're all done. Lets us know what you think... Craig
  18. Cool, another who takes their Z to the limits! Cheers. Craig

Hi Stephen, not to change the subject of the thread regarding plugs, but bench testing these Pertonix units, I understand is that they either work or don't. In my case I just wanted a new unit and use the old one as a back up since it is 5 to 7 years old? and the new unit wouldn't even start the car, old one back in and fired up. Pertronix people tested it good, electrically, but not on my distributor... thus they are stumped. So I've got to make time to pull the distributor with the working old unit and let Pertronix have a look. The ultimate test would be a test station with plug wires, plugs and a cyclinder under pressure to dial in the best position and set up for the Pertronix unit. The Z unit is not adjustable, but just a drop in plug and play, with maybe a tiny bit of adjusting the timing. We'll see.

They'll do fine Enigma. I've had them on my daily driver Firebird for 3 or 4 years now. Had only one bad boot, fixed it and still running them. Next time I'll go different. But take care of them, don't yank on them and the Taylors will be fine for general use day to day driving. It is different thinking when the motor spends 75% of it's time between 4500 to 6500rpms. Don't forget to think about a Pertronix ignition module in the distributor to get rid of having to use points. Normally these are good ignition up grades too. Easy to install and no more worries about points. All though I was at the Pertronix factory yesterday in San Dimas, Ca. discussing their 2nd revision Ingnitor Ignition kit compared to their first unit, something funny going on with the new unit compared to their original. I'll be taking my distributor into their facility to do some playing around. I've got them stumped on a new unit not working in the distributor but bench tests out fine. We'll see what happens.
