  1. Ok, do I sand the bushing so it’s thinner, or sand (grind) the transverse link so its wider, or the strut so it’s narrower? I think the easiest would be to take a little off each side of the strut. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  2. @ETI4K When I did mine, I ended up pressing the joint right through the bottom cup. I agree with @wheee! ... get aggressive .
  3. I haven't tried it yet, but by first impressions, It's going to be tight. The bushing for the transverse link seem very tight, and the spindle pin through the bushing seems really tight too. When I say tight, I mean I don’t think they’ll fit. Has anyone successfully done this?
  4. I put it back together again today. It moves now, but I wouldn't say it's smooth. I'll put it in and see what happens. I'll flip the other one as well. Thanks guys.
  5. I tried to read everything you've done and what others have posted, so forgive me if you've already done this. Have you fed the intake from the fuel pump directly into a bottle of fuel to test from the fuel pump to the carbs. When I replaced my pump, I had similar problems. I ran one 16oz water bottle filled with fuel and everything cleared up.
  6. Can you post a pic of the vinyl when it arrives? Thanks
  7. @cgsheen1 I noticed those stands too, but I have another set in their proper location.
  8. @ETI4K ball is 11mm and spacer is 10mm
  9. Yes @Terrapin Z that's a hose clamp ?
  10. @Terrapin Z the red car has a rear disc brake mod. It has the ebrake, but has never worked. The PO didn't fit it properly.
  11. Here's a pic (from white car) showing them side by side.
  12. I think I'll submit other pics to let you guys see if anything else is wrong ?. Thanks!
  13. @Captain Obvious I was wondering about the half shaft too, but I'll flip it around. It's a good physics question for sure.
  14. Correct on the half shaft. @ConVerTT had me thinking about the control arms, but FSM shows them to be correct. To be honest, I didn't know that they were the same arm, but flipped for the left side.
  15. haha...it's the red one. It's been on jack stands for awhile. I removed the half shaft from one side. Being new to Zeds, I thought I'd do one side at a time. Ok @ConVerTT what's wrong with the pic? ?
  16. Will do...check back tomorrow.
  17. Here's something to lighten your day. Until I bought a second 1971 240Z and had the two of them side-by-side, I may not have spotted it. I know you more seasoned Zed Heads will get it.
  18. I cleaned everything up today; it all looked good. I'll reassemble tomorrow and give you an update. Thanks again.
  19. Thanks to all that have read and responded to my post. Based on your thoughts, I will keep the red one intact since it’s a series two. I will still focus on restoring the white one first since i believe it’s solid. I thought it’s interesting that they were both originally silver, so I will do the white one in silver. I will take photos of the fuel injection parts I received with the 78’ L28 motor and start a new post for advice on that. Thanks again.
  20. @ConVerTT matching numbers was a bad term...I should have said period correct or model correct or something like that. The red car has a lot of rust...rusty floor pans, rockers, pillars, etc. but it can be saved. The white car is really solid. You are correct, the white paint was done hastily. I think I could save a lot of money on bodywork restoring the white one (if I’m correct about solid body).
  21. @gwri8 Good advice. I'd say I'm more of a purist as well, so keeping the early one all together is a logical. I will do the comparison chart as recommended. You are correct, the motor is from a '78. I reached back to the PO to see if he still has the harness for the fuel injection.
  22. Also, I can't seem to find someone in the Daytona Beach/Orlando area that will do the major rust repair.
  23. @gwri8 thanks for your feedback. What are your thoughts about taking the best parts from both cars to make one very good car and then a second car (if I keep it) with all of the remaining parts in the second? I must say that I don't know anything about the L28 engine in the white one. I may take a closer look at the L28 engine already in the white one.
  24. Thanks for challenging my previous post. Now I'm not sure what to make of the diagram. I see .35 oz goes into the grooves, but where do I put the 1.23 oz?
