  1. I ran across this, so thought I'd share. https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/pts/d/tampa-datsun-l28/6860205308.html
  2. SteveJ or anyone else, do you know if it fits between his wheels? I measured mine today and 70" is the length of the QuickJack and the distance between wheels is very close to 70". To me, it looks like it will fit, but will be very close. I won't arrive until next week, so I'm curious.
  3. I just ordered the QuickJack BL-5000SLX for $1099 at HomeDepot Online. From my research, that was a very good price. Shipping is free. If anyone is interested, I'll post an update as to how well it works on my 240Z. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Quick-Jack-BL-5000SLX-5-000-lbs-Capacity-Portable-Vehicle-Lifting-System-BL-5000SLX-AC-110v/307393222?cm_mmc=Shopping|G|HC|D25T|25-31_GARAGE/AUTOMOTIVE|NA|NA|71700000037147756|58700004942559535|92700042867443626&gclid=CjwKCAjwwZrmBRA7EiwA4iMzBAfISSJB1zuHA3oh0RZ_5KwJDX4aoohJLIBS0n1oh-Nu_V8IfJrLgBoCwisQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  4. Jerry, i was able to clean up and reuse the two that were on the top hinge. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for the responses. I ended up assembling the entire hinge for my 7/71. I then inserted the spring into the recessed area of the hinge. Then I used my 12 ton press to compress the spring on the lever end of the spring. I thought for sure it would shoot out like a rocket, but it stayed in place long enough for me to compress the spring and then slide it off the press (needed to pry on it with one handle of pliers) and onto the lever. i think it was stated elsewhere, but to align the door I just folded a bath towel in half and laid it on the door sill. I closed the door fully and tightness the bolts. Low and behold it was a perfect alignment. Thanks to all of you for the great posts and Q&A.
  6. When during reassembly did you insert the spring? How did you do it?
  7. How many do we need and how do we purchase them from you? My doors are a mess from the previous owner(s). Thanks.
  8. To be clear, the channel between the two ports does not affect the rest of the radiator, correct? I'm kicking myself for not checking that. If that's the case, I will put some RTV in the holes. Thank you for your insight.
  9. I purchased a new radiator on amazon for my 7/71 240Z that actually looks quite nice. The problem is there are two ports at the bottom of the radiator. The ports are 14MM threads. I went to every hardware, auto, and home improvement store to find a cap that would screw on to cap the holes, but they're not made in metric. I believe the ports are for a 280Z. Any suggestions as to how to cap them?
  10. So I have my center council out. Upon inspection, I can't see how an outer boot from an A or B type will fit. I don't have a B type boot yet, but for sure an A type boot won't fit; there's not enough room between the shift handle and the trimmed tunnel. Have any of you fitted a B Type boot? If so, I'll order one.
  11. Thank you all for your advice. Since my transmission tunnel is only bent up and my original console is already trimmed, I'm going to alter the shifter handle with sharper angles. I won't be doing any more damage and I can use the original style rubber boot. Thanks Again.
  12. It does have the "S" type shifter handle. Here are my thoughts on sorting things out: Either I replace the transmission back to an A style OR I correct the interior. If I choose the latter, then how do make things somewhat correct? The previous owner bent up the front of the hole in the transmission cover. He only bent it about one half inch, so the S-Shift lever still hits the front of the hole. He also cut away a small portion of the center console where the boot comes through. He never added a rubber boot, and just left the leather boot dangling. If I cut about 3/4 from the front of the shifter hole, will the latter (B type) rubber boot fit the entire hole? If so, do I then incorporate the boot ring used with the later 240Zs? When done, does it look ok? Could I actually purchase and install the later center console (if I can find one)?If I replace the trans back to A Type, then all should be well. Are there significant differences between the A and B Type?Lastly,What would you do? I think this car has good bones and I’d like to make it a really nice driver, so my instinct is to put it back to original A-type.
  13. My 7/71 also had the Type A to Type B swap. I recently purchased the car and discovered it yesterday. The person did a real bad job on the install. They just bent up the transmission tunnel and cut some of the center console. No rubber boot covers, and only duck tape to seal the hole. If I try to sort it out right, do I need to actually find a Type B center console, of keep the original? If I cut away 3/4" at the front of the shifter hole, can I then use at later rubber shift boot? Do I need the metal ring too? Any advice and pics of the interior side of the shifter will be helpful.
  14. Is that white material original? I doesn't look like it. It's a tough plastic material I think they added instead of an inner and outer boot. To make things right, I believe I'll need the inner boot, outer boot, six clips, and a new leather boot. Are the clips used to secure just the rubber outer boot, or does it secure the rubber and leather to the frame. Any pics you may have are appreciated.
  15. The pic may not help as I don't have the center console removed yet. Interestingly, I thing the original boot is still on the car, but it's in bad shape.
  16. I have 1971 240Z (7/71) and the shifter boot (inner and outer) is completely missing. I see some videos that show the boot ring (retainer), but I'm thinking there may not be a ring for the Series 1. Am I correct that I only use clips to secure the outer boot cover? Any help is appreciated.
