  1. Thank you for all the replies! Just an update: - Ordered some brake parts (rotors, brake pads, drum pads, brake fluid) for us to install this week. - Here is my tune up list (please add anything else I'm missing): transmission fluid, spark plugs, oil change, radiator change (leaking a bit), suspension, bushings, brake fluid flush. - The Z is running very rich and misfiring. I'll have to do some research on where to start diagnosing. - The Z won't start without starter fluid. Once the Z is warm, it has no problems starting up. - Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop in the Sacramento area that specializes in Datsuns?

Good morning everyone, Everything is still original on my 280z. I have to slam the brake pedal to the floor for the Z to brake. What can be the cause of this issue? I was thinking of doing a re-haul including: new rotors, brake pads, drums brake shoes and brake fluid. Should I do the brake lines as well? Are there any other parts you recommend to change out?
  3. Thank you for all the tips! We made it back without a hitch! We took all of your recommendations and carefully inspected the Z and also brought tools, spare parts and fluids with us. We were willing to have it transported like some of you mentioned if we had any doubts but it drove really well. The only things we noticed were the following (which we will get to this week hopefully): - Soft suspension - Soft brakes, have to nearly step all the way down on the pedal - The headlight/wiper switch needs to be replaced (Seller gave us back $200 to fix this)'
  4. Good morning everyone, I am picking up a 1977 280z in Southern California and driving it back to Sacramento. The Z has less than 30k miles, new tires, pass smog, new fuel pump, and tune up within the past 6 months. I am planning on rental a car and driving down with my fiance. Then we will be dropping off the rental in SoCal and driving the Z back up. Is there anything you recommend we bring with us? What do you suggest we do maintenance wise once we get back home? Thank you!
