Semi-unreleated but... Wish I could find a picture. But we have in our local area a 280Z that was confiscated in a drug raid that was coverted to one those "Just say no" anti-drug cars. It was painted as a Police cruiser (White, blue stripes, etc..) It had the "To serve and Protect" logo and state police badge. It also had Light bar on top.
  2. I'm pretty sure you are limited to the Skyline GTS 5-speed, unless you want to make the car AWD (It's been done). I think the 5-speed should be plenty. Sure, it doesn't have the wow factor of a 6-speed, but it may just be more practical.
  3. It will probably be too late by the time you see this, but somebody is selling a LSD Diff on Zcar.com. http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=2408&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&fromfromid=34&

VIN# HLS3005366 The interior is a little off, but other than that it sure is a sweetie. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2421532172&category=6187
  5. Not sure, I think it was around $150.00. It weighed 93.2 lbs, and is probably in non-UPS container. I paid a flat $600.00 for the Diff + shipping. (UPS Ground) If I remember, I'll post the shipping details when I get the Diff.
  6. Not to rub it in, but I just bought a LSD R200 with 3.90 gears. (I have a 5-Speed) I got it from "Stoney" over at Hybridz.org. It's coming from Alaska. :cross-eye UPS Tracking tells me it should be on my doorstep tuesday. :classic:
  7. If all things are the same, the 4.11 car will get off the line quicker but you'll be spinning higher RPM's at highway speed. That means poorer gas mileage and slight increase in wear-n-tear on the engine. It will also reduce your top-end speed.
  8. You can format the text in Word and then use the [code ] tags to post it here, but you still may have to do a little tweaking. Jim, This is a great idea. “26th-Z” posted that he got an estimate from you for $582.00usd for one unit. Could you give us a rough estimate on the saving we could expect to see if we got 8 people to do this? I know this is an unfair, maybe even impossible to answer, question. But before making a decision like this, it would be extremely helpful to have a rough figure. I personally will not hold you to it. I expect the finale cost to come out after the details are worked out. Thanks.

The weight of my first '73 240Z was 2380lbs. (about a half tank of gas) L24 Dual '72 SU's (round-tops) carbs A Header Alloy wheels Complete coverage carpet (Tranny hump & Strut towers) Smog pump removed No Air Cond. To lighten you could... go to a fiberglass front clip. Strip all but the absolutely necessary interior lose the bumpers Plexi rear glass Sorry, can't help you with the other question.

Many years ago I had a friend who was at least 6’6”. He drove a 198X Z-28. When he sat in it his knees almost touched the steering wheel with the seat was all the way back. He looked like an over-grown kid in a go-cart. I gave him a ride in my 240Z on day and he was amazed that with the seat all the way back and his feet on the firewall he could lock his knees out straight.

I've received a response to the email I sent. My questions to Speedhut & Speedhut's answers: 1. Will the "Speedhut" logo seen at the bottom of RPM gauge on your website be present on any gauge faces I order? I would prefer that they did not. SpeedHut: The Logo is visible on your dials. We can remove this Logo for an additional $10.00. 2. Is it possible to exactly match the font of my original gauges, and if so, what would the additional cost be, if any? SpeedHut: We would charge $40.00 to match the font of your cluster exactly. We would also need you to locate the font and send it to us. We have a few different font styles that may be similar to your stock cluster. 3. Do 'El' gauge faces generate any more heat than stock gauge lighting? SpeedHut: There is no heat generated from the EL Gauges. Your stock lighting generates heat. I later received a second Email... Roger, We don't currently have EL GLO Gauges for your Datsun. However, we will be introducing a Brand NEW Custom Product line to Speedhut.com in approx. 2-3 weeks! Please check back at www.Speedhut.com! I'm not sure what this "NEW Custom product line" will be, but I'm hoping it will be that they will no longer require 20 pre-orders, and for Little extra cost they will make gauge faces for any vehicle. I have no basis for this idea, I'm just dreaming.
