Did you do that, or is that what you found when you cleaned up the carbs? Don't tell me you did that. No "crudely executed" about it. That carburetor is ruined.

As I recall, Distinctive Industries was the vinyl manufacturer for the Vintage Z program. I have installed their interior vinyl once and I have another full set on the shelf. There are very subtle differences from original but one would really have to know to see them. Otherwise their products are first rate, fit very well, and look great. I don't think the embossing is an issue.

On my cars, the yellow paint (I assume lacquer) was blotched on with a brush. Fairly messy, seemingly applied in a hurry. So, I looked at all my glass, from both cars, and I can't tell what from the chart. I have some LAMISAFE M-146 and some TEMPERLITE M-215

No, the yellow paint in that picture above is fairly conservative. IMO too neatly done, the paint marks thin and aligned. I think the factory application was far more sloppy.

One of our members was just asking me about splash pans. My cars don't have them. This was my reply. "I have a collection of images from the first service manuals (ala 1970) showing the splash pan. I think I got these from Kats some time ago. Notice how the pan doesn't have any holes in it. And, despite the color loss from the photograph, the pan is silver."

Those early door dovetail strikers are made of cheap metal and they just disintegrate. And they are really hard to find! The stainless repros perform much better.

All that effort to refinish the suspension pieces, re-plate the hardware, paint the yellow assembly marks, and didn't paint the part number on the mustache bar.

Yea, the hood bumpers are the later style. The rear bumper end packing is not 'correct' for this car, but a nice touch IMO. The battery cables, at least the negative cable, is correct and very difficult to find. I can't see the positive cable. Funny how the peanut gallery is fussing over a pointy tip antenna.

Well, they're just weak and require lubrication all the time. I think if you keep them lubed they should work fine. Honestly, I prefer the later style!

First rule of this conversation is don't badmouth the guy's car. So...this is very nice restoration with very heavy "provenance" on workmanship. This looks like a Pierre, very 'Vintage Z' vibe. However, there are too many incorrect inconsistencies to mention. As i feel about the 'Vintage Z' restorations, I observe about this car; a "parts replacement" restoration. It is fresh and clean and new looking because the parts have been replaced, in many cases with date incorrect pieces. And that's just what these sort of restorations are all about. Extremely nice, almost new condition, perfectly acceptable for show and dance. In this case, assembled by craftsmen who really did a nice job. No, the early cars were not underbodied black. Spare tire well is missing the velcro and the alignment stickers. Interior tail light panel cover is the later style with the access panels. I could go on and on. But how about this? The 240Z badges would be chrome Zs and the gas door knob would be the vertical version. I learned about early tail lights recently. These are later version replacements.

I vote for the Libres painted the same color as the rear valance - gunmetal. You said you need an early steering wheel and 'headlights'? Do you mean FRP headlight scoops?

Vent tank hoses
I am so glad that I don't have to deal with this. The fuel vent tank is basically the difference between an early HLS30-U and an HLS30-UV. What a great picture the first one is! Notice that the vapor tank is metal - very rare. My cars are HLS30-U versions with the vapor return going to a T fitting on the filler hose. Kudos to all the information posted.

Red 69 production date car on BAT
So he has HLS30-00020!?!?? I thought it was originally white. Could be wrong - old age memory. Fuel door knob is wrong. It should be the vertical knob.

I'm surprised that they ran with the rear interior panel.?!? What I just noticed is the enlarged tail light opening in the exterior finish panel. Also on the car in your post 81. They must have wanted access to the housing from the outside of the car.
