ZCON 2010 July 28th-Aug 1st Nashville,TN
gnosez, I don't think you'll have trouble in our area, Franklin. Downtown Nashville might be a different story. I don't know. We have a shuttle bus running hourly for most of Thursday as part of the Wild Horse Saloon dinner that evening. I'm gonna get my picture took on the stage of the Wild Horse Saloon! WTF? The bus runs from something like noon to midnight. If you do that, you (1) don't have to worry about your car, and (2) you can drink. That's my plan.

ZCON 2010 July 28th-Aug 1st Nashville,TN
Just "confirmed", Randy Rodriguez and Bruce Robinson will be at the convention. They are the gentlemen responsible for the design and delivery of the 370Z. How great will it be to have them with Yoshihiko Matsuo?! The guest list is getting crazy. What a great group of people are coming. Come Saturday, Ron will be seen posing with the "Peter McLaughlin Collection". Look for lots of publicity from all this. You can hear all the excitement when we talk with the Nissan people. They have been great. And many people seem to be kicking in a little extra to make this year a great party. There have been a couple of huge efforts. The Matsuo effort was huge. HLS30-00013 will be seen posing with the "heritage" guys Saturday. Another huge effort. Our thanks to everyone. We have been getting 6 - 8 registrations a day for the last two weeks. We are topping 300 Z cars and around 600 people. On-line registration closes at noon Eastern time tomorrow (friday) and re-opens in Nashville next Wednesday, July 28th, at 1:00 pm.

240Z Luggage Strap Variations
I believe the correct carpeting would have a edge sewn slit, about 8" long, from the middle of the luggage stop to allow the carpet to fold back when opening the tool door. I don't have this set-up and I can't remember if the later carpeting had slits for the brackets or not.

Very interesting. Shame I can't download the images. They may very well be 1969 / 1970 advertizing images. Alan would know.

The "Z Store" at the convention is where all the merchandise will be sold. Merchandise will be available at the car show at the ZCCA tent and inside the Nissan building. Nissan is producing a number of things for the 40th Anniversary of the Z. I'm not sure what, but it will be official Nissan merchandise. Under the guise of the ZCCA most merchandise will have the emblem of my avitar. T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, clocks, watches, coasters, lapel pins, embroidered patches, window decals, books, hats, artist prints (Cadematori), posters, and slew of other stuff I can't remember. The goodie bag has some of this stuff included. Oh! Dash plaque. There will be a ton of stuff in the raffles. There is also a silent auction of Katayama signed stuff and collectable stuff. And last but not least, the band is doing a special music album for the convention. National recording artist Beth Garner with the Dirty Curties band including Caitlin Nichol-Thomas, Melinda Curtis, Erin Holiman, and Karen Dee. The band will be providing music at three of our activities throughout the week.

Early 240Z gas tank ?
According to my parts book, 17201-E4600 has the nipples for the evap hoses. 17201-E4100 is the early / Canada one without the nipples. 17201-N3400 is the one listed for the L26 engine. Sounds like you have a "rare" piece. NOS? Cool!

Video BRE from Road & Track
Ron, I couldn't be more delighted to see the success you have with all the efforts you went to. I first remember meeting you five years ago at Long Beach and seeing your car "in progress". There are great threads in the archive about your efforts. Incidently, I saw a picture of you at a Willow Springs Vintage event in a vintage racing news letter recently. You were behind a group of Corvettes? Since the convention was mentioned, I want to take a moment to thank Nissan North America, specifically Colin Price, for the support they have given to you and your car. It's going to be great to have you in Nashville.

Gary That's a compilation of four different films produced by Nissan. The 240Z Sport and African Safari films are actually abour 20 minutes long. The segment with John Morton is a television advertisement. Chris

Had not hit this thread in a while. Yea, we're at three weeks or so. It will be good to see you again, Ron. Your car will show well with Nissan's decision to promote their racing heritage of the Z. The autocross and track day will be fun with both Morton and Millen at the convention.

My clollection
Dan, Do you think we are looking at two different part numbers and the part variance between the two? I'm not surprised by the discrepancy between the diagrams in the manuals and our photographs of "original" configurations. I have seen this before. The most striking example I recall was with the carburetor float bowl vent tubes. With the Nashville show coming up and over 50 240Zs registered, I'll be looking at this issue with delight! Chris

Observation must be your middle name, Dan! Service slide shot v.s. "original" car from the Syracuse convention.

As usual, great conversation. Thanks - many thanks.

Zcon 2010 general questions
Those are the two "privately owned from our convention team" cars I was talking about. Ron Carter's car will be there as well as Steve Millen's. I understand that Mr. K never drove the 260Z. That he "retired" before the car was delivered? Know anything about it? All registration happens at the Embassy. Hit the Embassy first.

More updates: My avatar is the convention logo and you will see that image all the time. But we had Hector Cademartori do a special poster for the event and this graphic goes on the t-shirts. There will be signed, numbered prints of the poster. Guess what number I have? Nissan keeps their "Heritage Collection" at the Lane Museum which is on our convention list of things to do. Some of those cars will be hauled out for the car show, Saturday. I got the list yesterday. Three of them are historic race cars; coupled with two more privately owned from the West coast, and two privately owned from our convention team will make a fantastic display of Z racinging history. A Patrol will be on display. Nissan also has a car in the Lane that is a pearl yellow 260Z 2+2 which was owned by Mr. K. I had not heard of this car, so I am anxiuos to see it.

Well...because you're registered. You're going to show up at the Embassy Suites Hotel and you're going to go to the registration room. There, you will tell someone sitting at a registration table your name and you will be given all your convention materials including the t-shirt. You get a "goodie bag" that looks something like this gym bag. It will have your t-shirt, the convention brochure, convention merchandise freebees, sponsor catalogs, stuff about Nashville...etc. You'll get your Forged Performance lanyard and name tag. And you'll get wrist bands for the different events you signed up for. Your car will get a number decal. Then, you'll wonder around in a daZe for a while until you remember to check into your room. You got a room at the Embassy, right? Very soon after that, you'll feel sucked in to the twilight Zone of Z-dom. Helplessly, you will think nothing but Z for the next five days. Ask anyone who has been to a ZCCA convention.

Hey! Her Majesty the 26th just reminded me that #403 resides with us! :stupid: She was officially HLS30UN-00403 and she was 905 Monte Carlo Red. God rust her soul.

Zcon 2010 general questions
It doesn't matter what you call it. Save your money. It isn't allowed. Nissan will be taking many publicity photographs during the day. "My Classic Car" will be filming a show segment. The car show begins with a photograph of the whole crowd. It is possible to get far enough away from the area to photograph the entire show. We don't want "canopies" obscuring the cars. Chris

Guys, Rick doesn't post with any intention of irritation. He knows this site is "hardball" and he likes to contribute and discuss things with this gang. Welcome him. He's a good-'ol Z guy who wants to talk about Zs. Just read past his # slang. He's used to that format and we can all assume he is talking about HLS30Us, HLS30UNs, or HLS30UVs. I wonder how many of you know the difference between the three models imported into North America. Or that there WERE three different model specifications. John, Climb out of Alan's _ss lest you make a horse's _ss of yourself. Instead, thank him for bringing reality to what would otherwise be little more than a gossip column. England is not in Europe. Thank you, again, Geezer for our lengthy conversations that brought so much understanding of the production process to my attention. The picture Randy posted came from that research conversation when I was questioning the color sequencing some years ago. Kats has my whole collection. Thank you and drive happy
