  1. www.flza.com www.centralfloridazclub.com www.suncoastzcarclub.homestead.com or my page - http://home.earthlink.net/~cwenzel/index.html Don't forget Z-Fest in Orlando, October 7th. Biggest, baddest, Z-car show in the State and then there is the ZCCA national convention in Daytona - October 2007. You came to the right place, my friend. Certainly, there are a ton of the later verZions in Florida, but we have SERIOUS early cars here also!
  2. Call this guy and see if you can get a new piece in Japan http://www.datsunspirit.com/
  3. Confirmed pattern direction from 27th-Z.
  4. Yea, isn't that something? I had heard from people like Carl that the pattern was oriented differently, but this is the first picture I have seen comparing the two and it causes me to not only look at the new stuff I have, but check to see what 27th has as she is possibly more original than 26th. I replaced the vinyl in 26th in 1990 without paying attention and then I bought a new vinyl set for her restoration now. I have to do some research. I do know that the pattern orientation is not random. It is consistant from car to car. And do I think this is "over the top"? No.
  5. Here is something I was only slightly aware of, but did not give much thought to until I found this. What are your comments? I believe this is correct.
  6. Nissan IMSA GTU championships in Zs include: Drivers Championships- Walt Maas - 1974 Bob Sharp - 1975 Brad Frisselle - 1976 Don Devendorf - 1979 Manufacturer's championships- 1975, 1976, 1979 Nissan scored 58 IMSA GTU race victories in Z cars between 1974 and 1983. In 1989, Nissan began winning races in the 240SX GTU.
  7. This is Brad Frisselle's car today; the GTU champion in 1976. These were taken at the Walter Mitty last spring.
  8. I remember the kidney stone episode! And half-a-dozen other great episodes! Great entertainment, this site! I have said this before and I will keep on saying it; the best part about "our club" is the members and the great people I have become friends with. Friends all over the world. Can't even begin to tell you how much I have learned from the people I have met here. And the same goes for their generosity! Thank you all. Chris
  9. Ok. Well then you may be pleased to know that we plan to have a Dyno at the show and you may be able to see the fruits of your labor in documented bragging rights. It sounds to me like you have a Schneider cam http://www.schneidercams.com/cams/50.htm PN 17034 which is sold by MSA as 10-2003 and described as; " rougher idle, excellent performance, pulls hard from 3000 rpm to 6500 rpm". From your description of the E88 head, it sounds like you have a ported, big valve setup. My only suggestion is that you pay particular attention to the balance of the bottom end during your re-build. Balance everything, pulley to clutch, and get your pistons and rods to all weigh the same. That should give you plenty of excitement! See you at Z-Fest!
  10. So waddaya think? Would Her Majesty look better with a nose job?
  11. Come to Z-Fest in October and talk to the largest gathering of Z cars and experts in the State of Florida. You are certain to get several different opinions. http://www.flza.com/fza/zfest_06.jsp
  12. I would imagine an interiors thread is the wrong place to talk about ball joints, but I have received some new information (new to me) which sheds light on the issue. Technical Bulletin TS70-60 published December 16, 1970 indicates replacement of the original ball joint and steering knuckle from the 15mm shaft diameter to the 17mm shaft diameter. The begining serial number is noted as HLS30-07985. Part numbers are: ball joint assembly 40160-A8600 and knuckle arm 40052/53- E4102 sold in sets. My personal car show judge opinion is not to worry about the difference in ball joint sizes; it will never be noticed. My personal opinion as a car guy is go with the larger (ie. safer) ball joint and knuckle size.
  13. More news from the developing event plan. On-line registration is now open at www.flza.com and we are moving forward with that software. Ellis AutoworkZ of Tampa www.ellisautoworkz.com will be conducting a Dyno exhibition with their new Dyno Dynamics http://www.dyno.com.au/ I watched the machine in action last Saturday. It provides a color printout in graph form of horsepower, torque and fuel / air ratio.
  14. The pieces are begining to fall into place in our hastily assembled plan. We think we can get 100 cars under 50,000 square feet of roof along with a great deal of outside space to work with. Here is the first parking plan. The building overlooks a lake, providing a real nice setting for having your car photographed and an arrangement has been made with a photographer to shoot cars and make prints on location. I am going up to Tampa this morning to talk to a guy about bringing his dyno to the event. Our dealer / sponsor, Reed Motors, will be asked to set up a display of current Nissan vehicles - especially their "Bottom Line" sales campaign. Their will be exhibits for cleaning and polishing, "clear-bra" protection applications, and Datsun / Nissan apparel for the fashion minded. Several seminars are planned for topics concerning car show judging and club sponsorship activities.

That chrome tail light finisher is the sign of the Northern Goth Samuri. Thier traditional dress is silver and chrome with large fender flares because of the size of thier feet. I have seen both blue and black interior interpretations in my studies. I understand that their women are traditionally shaved and very smooth. Isn't that right, CDavid?
  16. Yes, that chassis can be saved. Why do you want to? I think I have two good excuses. What's yours? 26th has been collectively that bad over her years and to stop the same condition your car is in, I had to dip her - inside and out. I plan to dip 27th as well. The dip was around $1,600 and body prep, welding, new metal and primer was around $5,700. Now it is time for paint and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the whole body will cost less than $10,000. I did all the grunt work - grinding, sanding, scrubbing, sealing, and sweeping the floor - provided beer for months on end and expect to have the body shell in brand new condition when I am finished. Best of luck!
  17. MSA sells Schneider products. http://www.schneidercams.com/ I bought a whole kit including cam. rockers, lash pads, springs and retainers for the $600 figure. "Rebello" sounds a lot better than "Tom and Tommy's Machine Shop", and I think you have a good plan. I wouldn't say that valve clatter is natural depending on how much noise you are talking about. How many miles do you think you have on the valve train?
  18. Some interesting comments! It is impossible to set a new valve seat too far into the head. The head is machined to recieve a proper seat. There are specs on this in the FSMs. By all means don't work with any machine shop that doesn't know what they are doing. (At least, I don't) The noise you are talking about can come from a number of sources including the timing chain and tensioners. However, the wear pattern on the rocker arms, cam lobes, and the valve shims is critical and will cause noise if any of it changes. In all probability, the noise you are hearing now was caused by something that was changed. I agree with Carl in that as long as you are going this far, you might as well do it all. Especially if your prmary reason for doing this at all is because of noise. Don't forget that worn cam chains and tensioners are noisy also.
  19. I'll tell you how great the Z community is: I was given one of those signed posters and it hangs, framed, at home. I got a Mr. K book in a goodie bag for a convention. It comes with a small card version of the poster as a bookmark. Mr. K signed my book in Syracuse with a special inscription to me and Mike Taylor gave me a signed bookmark card in Dallas. Thanks Mr. K! Thanks Carl! Thanks Mike!
  20. Hey KenshinX! Is it possible to download and save the video files from that site? I can't seem to figure it out.
  21. I think that's pretty cool. Very discrete and nobody but a Z fan would recognize it, but once recognized, would be appreciated. Do you realize that the clock face design came from a wristwatch? Fact. I know who owns the watch and I went looking for pictures of it, but the site is down at the moment. If I am not mistaken, this is the watch - photo taken in 1969.
  22. Thanks for posting this, Gus. Good talking to you last night! This is the "mark your calendars" notice. More will develop next week, like registration, accomodations, etc. But we are go for launch. Florida Z-Fest 2006 in preparation for the 20th annual ZCCA International Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida, 2007. Stay tuned!
  23. Awe...you got it. How long ago was it you told me about this dream? My best congratulations, Alan. I'm going to break open some of that tea and savor this thread!
