Ebay shipping time machine
During the last three months, I have ordered two large items that required FedEx handling because of the size of the box. Both items arrived impaled. Both items were packed well. The boxes held up and were not deformed, just a big gash in the side that made its way through to damage the contents. I have had no problems with USPS or UPS, just FedEx.

Wanted: Plastic Coke Lever Handle…72
Ahh. Are you looking for one of these? The one on the left is more rounded, softer. The inscription is white but 'off-white' showing some patina. I like the finish of the knob better. The one on the right is more square cut and slightly larger. It still has remnants of the scotch tape that held the screw in (from the parts box) which makes me think it is new. The inscription is really white and bold. I don't like the surface of the black plastic. I would polish it. I believe the screws are intended to screw into the metal post. They don't screw into the handle. I thought these were from '73 models but what the hell do I know! These aren't the style for my cars. PM me if you're interested we'll deal. CW-

Datsun 240Z Special Service Tool on Craigslist
I have a parts catalog which lists 70 special service tools. My catalog is from December 1973 but there are earlier issues of the massive three-ringed binder. Kats has the earliest one I have seen. The tools range from engine stands to drift pins; all sorts of tools for engine and transmission rebuilding. One particularly interesting tool is a double pinned, hollow handle which takes off the the valance nut of the toggle switch on the dash. There are gear pullers, ring compressors, valve cutting alignment tools... all sorts. The tool boxes came with a tool tray on a shelf, similar to any craftsman box. I think Kats has a complete box. Both of mine are missing the tray.

Ahhh, here we go. Took me a while to find this thread. I actually have two dealer service tool boxes and a bunch of tools. Neither of my boxes are complete.

Thanks. That's my pride Mayline oak table that I've had for twenty years or so. I also have a matching 10 drawer flat file.

Finally Got My Garage Mahal!!!
Installed cabinets this morning. My old work bench frames got trashed and I got a great deal on these all plywood cabinets. 7 linear feet of uppers and lowers. Will make a great work bench. I still have to install the tops which are Corian. The epoxy floor is holding up very well, however it will scratch and it doesn't protect from hard scrapes and jabs that would mark any concrete floor. Because of the light color, dirt shows up easily but I wanted that to know that the place was clean.

COVID-19
Linda and I finished our shots two weeks ago. I had a sore arm from my first shot, Linda didn't. Linda experienced bad nausea from the second shot. Spent 24 hours in bed. Couldn't keep anything down. I anticipated the sore arm and massaged my arm after my second. Woke up the next morning with a good ol' college hangover. Yes, I remember them! Felt good to take the stroll down memory lane in a left-handed sort of way. Of course, just like college, I was good to go by 4 in the afternoon. I'm still masking around the general public. The 'Z' mask, of course. I encourage everyone to get the vaccine, no excuses. Just suck it up. It's not as bad as getting the disease. My 2 cents.

COVID-19
Faith Renewed - last November, I saw an add on Bookfaced for Datsun Z face-masks. Some guy was selling "Datsun Z" logo masks. I ordered and payed for three different logo masks...and...a set of shoulder harness pads with Datsun Z logos. I had given up on getting them and just wrote off the money as another scam. But behold the mail today they arrived!!! Very nice product. Very happy with them. I take back and apologize for everything I said!!!

1970 240Z Owners Manuals
Both of my original manuals are dated after my cars were built; December 20, 1969. I can make sense of that. I haven't ever tracked what I might term as publication dates, however I would imagine that Nissan printed owner manuals at certain date intervals rather than monthly. I don't think necessarily that an earlier version of the 5/70 is "more appropriate", just watch out for the Vintage Z program reproductions. They were issued March, 1977.

Weird Residue Inside coolant Passages
That doesn't look like any big deal. Have the block cleaned and see what happens. You're going to inspect the block after it is cleaned anyhow.

COVID-19
Well, yes, the part about the tariffs. I'm tired of the lies. "The only country set up to deal with it was Taiwan. They learned from SARS and put measures in place in advance.... good planning." WRONG! USA was set up not only in this country but on a world stage. The United States had measures set in place after SARS and Ebola. The current administration took all that apart. Fact. Look it up. Both of them are bad leaders, you say? One of them hasn't lead yet and the other isn't a leader and cannot be described that way, obviously. Get ready for mandatory masks. Both France and Germany have gone to mandatory masks in public. I just bought some very stylish Datsun Z masks. They are going to be all the rage. And speaking of masks; does anyone know how well ZCON did with virus transmission? Did anyone get the plague from ZCON?

COVID-19
Yea, talk to the farmers about that policy. And talk to the taxpayers about the subsidies going to the farmers because of that policy. But, oh!, the tariffs are paying the subsidies! I'm tired of this. Biden fixed the economy that caused me to put my cars in storage (I'm real lucky that I still have them) and I'm betting on Biden again. "Less Worse", who are YOU kidding?

Yay or Nay on bracing to remove front rails on 240z?
Oh by all means, yes, alignment matters. Make sure your transmission mount and engine cross brace are aligned properly. String and align your sway-bar mounts.

31K Miles Series I 240Z Up for Auction on BaT - Over $100k on First Day!
I certainly don't feel bad. I didn't like this car from the beginning. BaT has an interesting feature where you can track sale prices over a number of years and the Datsun 240Z has a very distinct line of average sale prices to help you determine "the market". Type in "Datsun 240Z" in the BaT search bar and you will get a graph. Each bullet on the graph links to the actual listing. What has sold in the six figures have been Vintage Zs and provinance Zs like the Franklin Mint Car. Then there was the 300k car that is way out there in oddball land. I think this no-sale was good for the market in that what The Guild said; once you get into the six figure area, it really gets nit-picky, and it should.
