Sometimes its just quicker to undo the diff xmember, 4 bolts and 1 mount nut diff will sag down, put the tailshaft bolts back the same way they are now they are designed that way.

Welcome to the club Nissanman, I'd love to see the brackets you use, I've got all the parts for this r31conversion a local engineer makes a 4 bolt bracket but it starts out as 20mm plate steel, I'm worried about unsprung weight.
  4. The dcoe 18's are the carb Weber states suits 240z etc, your white cap ones are a later models, all carb experts say you have to have same bodies in a multi setup and close serial numbers are even better.
  5. So what is the consensis on springs in a 240Z? I'm currently going 220 front and 185lb in the rear 65mm adj coils, it sees more dirt than anything and I always beleived you used a softer spring in the rear of 240's 510's to make them squat and dig the power into the ground. A lot of you guys are running soft front hard rear

Thinking about $20 for the lining,$20 for the set of door trims, there is a steering box but haven't got that far stripping down yet.

They're made by Globe in Australia model is 'Bathurst' after the great car race I guess, some times called Challenger pretty era specific for Zeds and 510 as they started making them in the early '70's I reckon Simmons copied them for their 3pc B45

Thanks for your reply Jon and you've given me something else to think about the next time I'm out on the track! I did crack open the two detent bolts in the sandwich plate but nothing fell out, nothing happened, should I be expecting there to be a spring and ball bearing? steve

Here's a good one, I jumped into my 4x4 that has the same 5sp as our zeds. Put it into reverse, backed out shifted to neutral but the car is still in reverse :tapemouth . The gear lever is in the center posistion and won't shift in any direction, clutch still works and the lever isn't broken. Any suggestions this side of taking a hammer to it.

Thanks all, surge tank or sometimes called swirl pot, driving with less than 1/2 tank is causing problems on fast switchbacks in the zed, so Ithink I'll fit one under the washer bottle inspection lid. The exhaust tube sounds a good idea and place to find a builder.

Can anyone suggest a tank size for a 2.8 efi in my 240z, thinking about 1.5lt, I'll have to have it custom made does being a rectangle shape make any difference?

I contact adhesive the lifted parts of the pad to the frame, v groved all the cracks with a flap disc on an angle grinder and in the end took most of the brittle vinyl off the top. Filled the cracks and top with flexible plastic bumper bar filler, sanded and resculptured the pad, wipe down with prep wash, spray canned with K&H flex primer then sprayed black K&H textured flexible bumper bar paint to finish. Adjusting air pressure I was able to get the right ripple and texture. Everyone thats seen the dash has been impressed, just a shame I'm now going to cover my handy work with a dash mat!

All done, dash removal was pretty easy I didn't mark the connectors as most are one fit only, pulled the fuse box with it. I've restored the dash and really happy with the result, lifted the interior by 200%. All up the cost of materials was $70, in the end I needed two tubes of flexible filler, it was that bad. Check out the before and after.

I love the look of bullet mirrors. Alan you have eagle eyes they are Napoleon mirrors, not sure if this would have been a dealer fitment or not it appears to be the only ones on the car. I have seen footage of Peter Brock racing his GTR XUI in the early '70's with this same mirror, I noticed the destinctive block pattern.

Take a look at these mirrors that came off a SI 240z I wrecked years ago. Both were fitted on the doors and have only holes to suit these mirrors, only other time Ive seen a pair was on another red SI 240. They have made in Japan on the base and are made of metal, do you guys think it came original?
