  1. I've seen a early 80's Falcon vented rotor on a 260z, apparently only needed a 1/8 washer spacer and used HZ Holden calipers

The rubber strut tops are about an inch higher too

Thanks Stephen, Ive just fitted a 280 efi into my 240 and this is the last wire I need sorted. Do you know what actives that white & blk wire on the solenoid? being pollution it should fire up even if I don't connect it.

You can see it below the throttle body and TPS with one wire going out.

I'll try My Chilton manual has a very vague wiring diagram, mentions an optional 'altitude switch' going to the ECU. ?? I've traced this white & blk wire to the back of the dash fascia, still not sure what it does. :sleepy:

On my 1980 280zx there is what looks like a sensor under the throttle body with one white & black wire going to it, anybody know what it is? My second 280 has the same sensor but a third 280 injection setup I've got doesn't. Steve

I agree with Richard that mid strength colours best show off a zeds curvaious lines. Whats catching my eye lately is that electric forest green on the BA Falcons (not that lime green :nervous: )

Unfortunately the Bilsteins are rear ZX with the coil over spring, unfortunate as it will cost me over $700 to fit similar Billys into the rear of my 240 :surprised The car handled real well, won a few autox races in it, 280's have risen in my estimation! Its a standard 280, will try and take some pics when it finally stops raining.

S1 280zx 2+2, One owner,Targa roof, Silver with blue interior, No motor. Cheap parts to clear. Located central Victoria. I also have zx spoilers, body kits and Bilstein struts
  11. I've got the ebayer sellers name who had 3 for $150 a couple of weeks ago. I do have a bag of them but may have sold the best ones at a swap earlier this year. I fitted TRX bluebird centre caps, they're flat and have Nissan stamped.
  12. anyone? I'm going to fit up the motor and box this weekend but I don't know if you really need to change the small diameter return line?
  13. G'day all, I'm reviving this thread as last night I pulled the motor and box out of the 280zx to install into the 240. I want to gather info on what traps to look out for and ask a few Qu's. Once I've finished I'll post up the entire project. First thing I noticed is how much easier it is to move the 240 shell around the yard than the 280zx shell, which is motivating me even further as this 280zx really flys on the dirt. -Fuel lines I'll use the 280 elec fuel pump, but the return line on the 240 is smaller, can I use an adapter to connect it to the fi return rail? does size matter other wise will I have to change tanks too ( the 280zx tank will not fit) -Wire loom I disconnected the loom from the body and pulled it complete with the motor. When I took the loom harness off the ECU I had to disconnect a single spade connector and a three spade connector from the loom, should follow these under the dash and remove them? what do they control? thanks for any advise Steve

Just fixed this problem on my 240z last night, it was the nylon spacer from the handle linkage as 26th mentioned. Threaded it upwards as it was stopping the lever it goes through returning fully up ( which stopped the locking lever clicking in) hope that helps.
  15. Anybody know the going price?
  16. Gav what discs will you run with the z32 calipers? You can make improvements on the standard rear drums, have new pads radius shaped to the drums, even better have competition pads bonded to your old shoes Apparently 280zx boosters can be fitted to the 240 which would be a big advantage Has anybody tried this? Steve
  17. I've found Monroe Sensa trak good value on other cars I've owned, as for Pedders well I think they're made by Monroe and painted white, apparently even their rally cars use Bilstein.

Thanks guys, hls30.com that sounds like what I'm after do you know which sensor to modify- the water temp - the air temp or - thermotime switch? Bought a 280zx just for the motor for the 240z I'm going to restore, in the mean time I've done the odd autox in the 280 and its really suprised me how well it goes and handles on dirt, I'm competing against full on Commodore rally cars and doing similar or better times.

Know any triks to get a bit more out of the 280 fi? someone metioned about modifying or disconnesting the temp sensor to get it to fuel up better anyone know how to do this. :devious:

I'll try that first, you could be close to the mark actually as I remeber there being a steam leak from the thermo housing, I had to hit the inside of the dizzy with a hairdryer

I paid $230 fitted r200 at Zxtras, but that was 4 or 5 years ago Seem to be always getting 3.7 in the 280s I've bought lately - wouldn't pay more than $150 for them. My est for a 3.9 r180 or r200 would be $200 - $250 Just bought an open 4.4 r200 on the weekend for $300

Just bought a 280zx for a complete engine & efi swap into my 240z. Motor is in good cond, runs and idles ok but once the revs hit 2500 it dies and drops 500 rpm? Can anyone point me to which part I may need to check first, AFM, TPS, Dizzy? as I've got a 2nd setup for spares.thanks

Nissan clutch pack LSD's are Nismo parts and usually big bickies $1200 - $2000 with decent ratios. Tried Datrats? I do know some other alternatives if you can't get a clutch LSD Steve
  25. I use Powermax on my 1600 which I think are the same as the zed $ 23 which may be a mates rate, no problems in the last couple of years, easy job to replace compared to other cars.
