Can I throw a curve ball. The 240z I have came with a 05L head.:surprised It runs a garrett turbo charger and su carbie.I'm thinking it may have come off a L20. The combustn chamber is filled in but it only has the small 38mm valves and judging by the extra bolt holes around the manifold it may have been fuel injectd(haven't pulled the manifold off yet).I'm building a hot l24 with triples for historic racing and wonder is it worth spending the money on this head? Can anybody shed more light on the 05L?
Definately time for a change.Only just replaced mine last week with a seal from a bearing shop- $12.00au compared to $60.00au from nissan. A couple of tips though -take note of how deep the old seal sits in the block -pluck the old seal out with a screwdriver but don't scratch metal -lightly polish the crank end with 800wet&dry -smear rubber grease behind and inside the seal -evenly tap the new seal on with a similar size drift, the old seal can be handy for this if all else fails:D
The way I guessimate a ratio for an open diff is jack one wheel up, mark the tyre to a point on the guard, then mark the diff tailshaft flange to the diff at 6 o'clock posi. Turn the wheel twice and count how many time the flange turns -3.9 4.1 etc .I love doing this, particularly when I once bought an old car and told it was an open and finding out I had a nismo LSD:D
