I checked out the triple 40 webers on my 240 today and they happen to be DCOE 18's the same model carbs used on the GT-B. Looks like I am a step closer to owning that Skyline :classic:

I picked up a s30 260z SM for $15 nos gearboot, shifter rubber and two 1600 lenses for $5 Saw the 240k gt sm new shock inserts what look like nos 260z front struts nos ring @ pinion $20 he told me to come around to his place some time to check out the other boxes of gaskets, parts etc.

Thanks Alan thats the manifold, it came with linkages and the very same red air box (just none of the important bits in the middle!) Picked it up today at a swap meet, thinking along the same lines as yourself if it didn't fit I could sell it again and perhaps keep the linkages. These Skylines would have been raped and pilaged long ago for their Webers, its hard enough to find a 240z airbox. cheers Steve

Bought a triple Weber manifold today, the bloke told me it was off a late sixties 2lt skyline. Figured it had to be a L20a and would fit my L24 head :cheeky: wrong! Can anyone tell me any info on this or other sites I should contact thanks Steve

Might be time to check valve clearances, I find when you give a motor a caning thats not used to it you end up with alot of valve train problems steve

I agree with Zkid earthing sounds the problem, where does your neg terminal connect to on this new motor and is there now paint or rust stopping a good ground. I would also be running a second cable from the block to the firewall or strut tops. Steve

If it comes on when you first turn the ign on them I reckon it has to be pressure----- pull the spade off the pressure switch on the block on see if it still comes on.

As D'master said the 260 is the one you really want with the oil filler on the drivers side. It's not a hard & fast rule as the last one I bought like this turned out to be a zed box with skyline ratios :stupid: no good for the race track. Try this -select first gear -paint mark front & back shafts at 12 o'clock posi -get a mate to watch the back shaft turn once as you turn the front shaft counting how many times it rotates ie 3.6 times, 3.3 2.9 etc tell us what you get and I can probably tell what box you have steve

Lockers weld a plate into the spider gears, so you could still use the 4.4 ring gear and pinion to make a LSD I use a locker in my 1600 circuit car, they corner better than an open diff which picks up the inside rear wheel (spins) but they push more out of the corner than a LSD so you have to adjust your sway bars. I think the biggest problem with lockers is trusting the guy who locked it up If they let go, think of travelling at 100kph and pulling the handbrake on one wheel. .......could be the fastest corner you ever take steve

From experience the engine mount arm and the sump off a 280zx fit in a z. However the engine bays are different and I wouldn't be using a 280zx for a mock up, experience has also shown me that the Genie extractors from a 280zx don't fit in a zed as the 280zx engine bay is alot wider :stupid: A mate who has just put a RB30 into his zed cut the the original tunnel mounts off and welded up new ones to suit the skyline box crossmember. Steve

Look Similar to a set I had -Cross Racing "FEVER" a japanese wheel actually made by Enkei, take the wheel off and it should be stamped on the back Steve

1600 and zed handles are the same part numbers, a mate use to sell his 1600 door handles to the zed wreckers around Melb for $10 and they turned around and sold them for $45 :stupid: If you want to buy a post pak I can send you a winder handle up for nix Steve
  19. HKSZ replied to Zedrally's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
I've quite offen seen the last enkei refered to as 'rally 2000' but as Alan said this has been in dealing with 1600's. Prices? well I passed up a set of five 14x5.5 really shagged 2000s with used tires no nuts for $300 three years ago, a mate bought them and reckoned they are worth $800 :stupid: but go figure. It has to be nostalgia that drives the price of a rally wheel that is as old as I am and more closely resembles a square. Ps Mike if you pick up a set make sure you get the special nuts, they can be just as nostalgic as the rims Steve
  20. It would have to be out of a guage or a backlight on the cig lighter?? Another thought- was or is your car an auto
  21. HKSZ replied to toecutter's post in a topic in Electrical
The factory air had AC on the fan switch and used vacuum lines to operate the hot/cold, demister etc. Sounds like someone has retro fitted one out of a 240k
  22. HKSZ replied to toecutter's post in a topic in Electrical
I think there is a relay on the right hand side of the engine bay before the strut tower, under a metal shroud. It's a factory AC that runs vacuum lines right?

I've got a key that opens 3 dattos and 2 toyotas, sure solex locks would stamp this out but just remember its a cam operated lock like your original so it won't stop a thief with a coat hanger. :dead:

There was a rerun of Commando on last night. As the bad guy parks his Yellow 911 in the car park a early Zed car cruises by. :rambo:
  25. HKSZ replied to Zedrally's post in a topic in Suspension & Steering
Ratios are free in historic racing/rally but the number of gears must be original ie in my 1600 I can only use a four speed. I recently bought a two gear Hollinger 5 speed, it was rebuilt six years ago with brand new gears and never used. At half the price of a used/unknown option I feel a little more confident slamming gears :cheeky: Hollinger are in Ballarat Vic but from my understanding they won't make anymore gears for Nissan boxes as they only produce gearboxes for the Holden V8 Supercars Steve
