  1. So you are talking about the relay box on the fender well inside the engine bay correct?

Before you even get started on this project, Either hard copy, Which I totally prefer where you can get a feel of the car. Read that manual over thoroughly and get an idea of what the challenges are ahead. Your multimeter will be your best friend.

Welcome to the forum! There’s a ton of experts IMO that can guide you through. Thanks for saving another Z
  4. Not being an expert, I’m sure someone has tried it and you might find an answer on HybridZ’s site.
  5. Could be the neutral safety switch or the relay. I converted mine to manual and jumped the wires at the trans harness. If you find you need a relay I possibly still have mine if you can’t find one.
  6. Is this a standard or auto transmission?
  7. Thanks for responding. I was mainly referring to the rotor and distributor cap. I’ve read about issues in the past. Hopefully they have that straightened out by now.
  8. This is the same car and individual. @mike How can someone on the forum be able to change identities which creates confusion. Totally removes history on the vehicle and doesn’t give an opportunity to find a solution since the history is no longer available per the user name. Since we are logging on with an email address how can a username not correlate.
  9. That’s true @Patcon. An earlier thread He mentioned he was moving from Panama to Spain. Originally on this site for a very long time. Believe he changed the name due to some issues he was having under the original name from Panama with the California Datsun engine.
  10. @Trnelson John Yarbrough here and was wondering what Bosch interchange p/n did you buy for your 123. Just bought one and hopefully the problem has been rectified since your post. No instructions what so ever and trying to just simply drop it in on my new motor sitting engine on the stand in my shop. Any advice would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance….john
  11. If your not “using a later model tach from a 74 or later year model, There should only be one wire on the negative side of the coil.”

One proven option is to have the headers ceramic coated. Jet Hot coatings in SC does a great job. Look them up on line. Great video. The heat shield IMO just circulates the heat beneath the hood.

How many racks were involved with your shipment?
  14. Yarb replied to KenFirch's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Are you running headers or the factory manifold?
  15. @SteveJ He is an amazing guy when it comes to wiring issues.

Glad to see you back @Racer X. I understand it’s been quite a journey for you. I hope you are doing well friend.

    I assume that’s Rochester Ny.
  18. You don’t cut anything
  19. Go back and look at post #2 Item (10)
  20. Why not try to find a known good gauge that someone possibly here on the forum for testing purposes. It won’t go to waste having an extra for future use. If it doesn’t pan out.

Exactly what @Zed Head posted in post 49.

There are many connections on the harness that need addressing. AFM etc. Are you doing the work yourself or having it done. That makes a huge difference in moving forwards as far as cost goes and I truly understand. Looking back and have known what I have learned fighting mine for a very long time I should have done that first. You also have the sub-harness that others were mentioning. Those connections are critical temp wise where the ECU determines the richness. Replaced that harness as well although you can fabricate that yourself as well. All this will give you a peace of mind moving forward. I wish you luck.

The EFI harness will throw the ECU into scramble mode lack of a better term. Have you rebuilt your harness from top to bottom? If not I highly recommend it. That was my saving grace. Labor intensive including soldering each connection. Not expensive but will take a major variable out of the issue. My two cents. It’s an old girl and wiring connections are critical.

I struggled with my 78 280z for quite awhile on vacuum issues. @Dave WM A known test for pretty much being sure you don’t have any leaks is while at idle loosen the oil cap and slowly remove it. The engine should sputter and begin to stall.

    Not the AFM. IMO
