Ordered from ZStory lately?
Hi all! Has anyone ordered from ZStory lately? I talked with Sean back in March, pleasure to talk with, very knowledgeable, love his exhaust work. Placed my order and immediately sent him $. He said ETA was maybe in May and I wanted to confirm so I can plan my work on the car over next few months. Haven't heard from him since. Sent txts, emails and no response. Anyone else have any luck? Sean, if you're out there, give me a shout! Thanks! Bill *This is NOT a bashing of Sean or ZStory, just concern.

Cleaning Western Wheels
Thanks for the advice on the steel wool Patcon! Freez74, scrubbed with toothbrush and simple green, then used Macs Brightener... came out great!! thanks! MUST use outside or VERY well ventilated space.

Cleaning Western Wheels
Hi all! I have these on my 240 and was hoping for some advice on cleaning these wheels. I would hate to ruin them by using the wrong cleaner. Some say Simple Green, others say a harsher chemical. Some say steel wool. Any advise is appreciated! Thanks!! Bill

Ball joint and steering knuckle
Thanks Dave. I'll need to buy a digital caliper today to measure. where on the stud should I measure and if I need to measure the height, is it ok to take the boot off the new one to do this?

Ball joint and steering knuckle
Hi all! I been reading thru all the posts on steering knuckle and ball joints, but not sure they're helping me, so apologies if there's already something out there for this... I've got a 72 240, pulled apart the front suspension and now putting things back. I bought new ball joints and have the original steering knuckle. I know the new ball joint stud is a bit wider than the old one, but when I put the knuckle on, it seems to drop over the stud about the same as the old and I wouldn't have to ream it out. What am I missing or doing wrong? Appreciate the help! Bill

Air Compressor for Blast Cabinet
I've finally bought a HF 40 blast cabinet and come to the realization that my existing compressor won't cut it (craftsman 15 gal, 3.5 cfm @90psi ) . I'm not getting enough suction to pull the media from the bottom of the cabinet. THe blast cabinet recommends 9.5 cfm @ 90 psi. I see most 9.5 cfm compressors getting to the $1k + price. I was really hoping to spend less than $500, but the best I can get from that price point is about 5-5.5cfm. Will I get enough pressure/volume from a 5.3 cfm to do basic parts blasting? Advise is always appreciated! thanks, Bill

Outer Tie Rod Ends
Thanks! sorry for the delayed response. siteunseen, I've gone thru all the posts and seem to see grease and gear oil used. But specifically: multipurpose NLGI No. 0 grease - is this what goes into the pinion housing via nipple and/or on the rack bar itself under the boots? using your finger? And this should go to grease the tie rods, etc? Another thread said API GL4 gear oil? "Arne...THe inner and outer tie rod ends should be greased. But if the lube is low inside the rack and pinion tuber itself (a rare problem), GL4 gear oil should be added" Still unclear. Sorry again for the basic Q's

Outer Tie Rod Ends
Very amateur question... how much grease should I put on the rack arms (that the boots cover)? I have a 3 oz super lube. I have a habit of always putting on more of anything, so maybe half the tube on each side? Sorry, I worry too much about doing all the work, reassembling then realizing I should have coated them more. On a separate note, waiting for my grease gun for everything else. ? Do I assume the new tie rod ends, ball joints are already greased?

Grease gun Shopping
Hi all! Want to get a new hand grease gun (non air) and even though they're relatively cheap, I'd rather spend a bit more for a better gun. Unfortunately, I see dozens of them in the $75 or less range(most less than $50). Since I'll prob buy online, I can't feel the quality thru the screen ? Any recommendations? I'd also like to get a grease coupler. thanks for the help! Bill

Outer Tie Rod Ends
ok, got the Moog outers from Summit, great buy. Hopefully, I can spend some time on it today. Since I didnt buy new rubber bellows, they look fine, is it ok to clean these out with regular degreaser in the parts cleaner? I'll be putting new grease on the rack and wanted to start really clean. As long as I wash and dry well, would the degreaser harm the rubber? Does anyone coat the rubber to prevent from cracking prematurely? thanks! Bill

Outer Tie Rod Ends
Ordered the outers from Summit, waiting for the package! Thanks all. On a separate question... when looking more closely at the sway bar bushings, the brackets seem too small for what I got (many years ago, bought the energy suspension bushing set). The bushing is 18mm and fits the sway bar perfectly, but if I put that bushing on the original brackets, the bracket doesnt fit flush to the chassis. am I wrong to just tighten them until they just squeeze the bushing tighter? Not sure if that would just bend the bracket and not squeeze the bushing. The bushings are poly, so I dont think they'll give that much. Or should I buy new brackets?

Outer Tie Rod Ends
Thanks Terrapin ! I was always thinking that it was better to order from z parts stores because I would be sure I got the right part. Prob felt less confident that general parts stores had the OE, but I'm now realizing that's not always the case.

Outer Tie Rod Ends
Hi all! I'm starting more involved rebuilding on my March 72 240 and currently working on the suspension. I ordered both outer tie rods from Z Car Source and they sent me these. They are different mfgs, Moog is right and not sure of other. The left has a shorter bolt, and the right seems like a larger diameter(may just be the boot). After reading, it seems like I should just be order two rights? They thread on correctly for each side, but I'm concerned about two different ones, esp the left with a shorted bolt. Any suggestions? Appreciate the help! Bill https://zcarsource.com/outer-tie-rod-end-right-240z-260z-280z-70-78-new https://zcarsource.com/outer-tie-rod-end-left-240z-260z-280z-70-78-new
