  1. To bad about plugs, the ones that came out don’t look bad. The fan looks good too😁. The rest not so much.. Time to let it go.
  2. Pretty sure my 78 was a Hitachi am/fm with antenna switch above tuning knob.. Don’t remember ever seeing a cassette as an dealer option
  3. Cool vid.. I’ve seen car’s stripped in NYC in 20 min😜
  4. A few blocks of wood either under or on top of the jack should raise it enough place ramps underneath the car.
  5. From the few pics shown it appears to have some serious issues. I would be afraid to see what’s left after stripping it down. Just to get it running will take quite an effort, and quite a few $$$’s. Unless you’re up for it, it’s probably easier to sell as is.
  6. In the past have used water for dried out compounds and waxes. Usually mix a few caps and mix, never had an issue.
  7. Very.. The eBay guy also has an 240Z antenna for only $1995. There’s also early radio with a buy it now price for $9000. Beyond crazy..
  8. For anyone like me looking for a nice set of original D hubcaps, there’s a set on eBay for sale. For the tidy sum of $6495.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325649533956?hash=item4bd2398c04:g:J~EAAOSwD59kWrp5 I think for that price a set of early rims should be included.. Guess I’ll stick with my slots..
  9. Great info. Thanks. Had hoped it was original, since car has low miles, but not the case.. The lack of a name and impeller raised suspicion. Still running the metal fan.
  10. Well, it’s looks like it’s not original.. Just found a pic of an original one, showing the impeller is cast, whereas mine isn’t. Have a new Aisin pump on the shelf just in case, may as well replace the non original one now.
  11. As my winter project wraps up, am about to put motor back into my Z(12/70). Had removed the water pump to clean and inspect. Other than some numbers (579) I was unable to find any OEM markings on the water pump. Is there any way to determine if it’s original?
  12. If plugs were torqued correctly (11-15 ft lbs) there should be no issue with stripping threads, unless they’ve been in for several years.
  13. Video is fine, except for failing to mention engine should be at normal temperature. A hot engine will give you the most accurate compression readings. When testing my engine cold, I found low readings around 130, hot engine were around 170. I like these numbers better..
  14. Note, battery should be fully charged to allow full cranking. Also, remember motor should be hot, so valve train is seated. Then remove the plugs.
  15. Got lucky found NOS clutch disc (ATSUGI) & pressure plate (AMPCO). Was a bit surprised that the new disc wasn’t much thicker then the original with 69k miles. Now just need a NSK-40-4A bearing.
  16. Reminds me of my first Z, a 260 that I bought in 1978, it had about 20k miles. The owner said he rarely used it. I quickly found out why. During the summer months the car would die after about an hour of driving. Tried several fixes, replaced engine fuel pump with an electric one, wrapped fuel lines, even ran copper tubing for fuel in front of the radiator. No luck it would still stall. Took car to Bob Sharp, mechanic told me the carbs were crap, and recommended getting the triple Solex carbs. Could have gotten them for $500.
  17. Quite the mish mash of parts, firewall shows vin 14160, dash had 3137, now AZ I’d number, and a L26 engine.
  18. Have noticed different scenarios: For Z parts have had good luck finding them on EBay & Craigslist, not so much on forums. For other cars e.g. Porsche, have found clubs and forum classified sales have tons of parts. Seems like Z parts are more coveted..
  19. Crazy price, think I’d rather have the lower vin, for a lot less.
  20. Well this was a disappointment, low vin #, great color, D caps, mostly original except for transmission, console. Only reached $25k.. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-254/
  21. Wow, very nice.. I’ve been looking for them.
