  1. Good luck.. Bottom of motor appears loaded with oil. Pic 171 isn’t pretty. The rails look to be in good shape.
  2. Early Z on BAT. Credit to seller for showing the flaws. Needs some serious rust repair. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-datsun-240z-102/
  3. This reminds me the issues I had with my 260z, back in the late 70’s. Tried numerous fixes, second electric fuel pump, wrapped lines, even ran copper tubing in front of radiator (not a good idea). Stopped by Bob Sharp Racing spoke with manager, he said swap out carbs, and get triple Solex. I think they were about $500 back then.
  4. Looks like a Ferrari collector, had a fondness for Z’s, in addition to his prancing horses. A 73 Z with just 14k miles has got to be rare..
  5. Yep, me bad.. Looked at mine, undercoating is covering the paint.
  6. Small detail, there should be a rubber washer under antenna nut.
  7. Have had good luck with Lock Tite, Thread Repair.
  8. Will do. Had thought my issue was coil/tech related.
  9. Just swapped out the PEI and Petronix, with the old points and original coil. No longer have issues revving the engine. Additionally, the annoying stumbling at 3k rpm’s is gone. Much better. Did notice that idling seems a bit off, I think it idled better before, need to recheck timing and carbs next. This was not what I expected..
  10. Well this is interesting, several months ago I installed the same on my 12/70 Z. Last week, was the first time I revved motor and noticed tach would stop at about 4800-5000 rpm. Previously, never had an issue. Was thinking about going back to points.
  11. Looking at your pics, have to agree.. Looks like galvanized metal, with tar, and paint. My 12/70 just has paint, with undercoating sprayed on top. See pic. Real pain to remove without ruining paint. So later cars had “improvements”.
  12. Wow a tree in a Z… Haven't seen that in quite a while. BAT posting must include BAC (bring a chainsaw)...
  13. Six figures, seems a bit much. Yes it’s a nice car with very low number, but with lots of incorrect items under the hood. For six figures I’d want all original.
  14. There’s a good source for braided hoses, BelMetric in Ma. All different sizes. https://belmetric.com/m5x10-braided-flennor-multifuel-hose-rhm5braid/
  15. I recall the clamps I used were 6-7mm, (used braided hoses).
  16. Maybe paint wore off? Have looked at a lot of early Z’s and never seen bare metal floors, rails, wheel wells, etc. Most had undercoating sprayed on top of paint when imported. Paint & Undercoating on early Z’s has been previously discussed on this forum.
  17. There should be paint beneath the undercoating, not bare metal. Cars didn’t leave the factory bare. If there’s no paint someone removed it.
  18. Agreed, more pics would have helped raise the price. Wonder if $15k would have bought it.
  19. I’ve been working on removing 51 year old undercoating from my 240z for the last week. Some areas come it comes off easily other areas not at all. Have found using some heat that the paint comes off, or scratches. Have been using Goof Off and a nylon brush with some success. A slow process..
  20. At 65k he should have let it go. Don’t think he’ll see that offer again for a long while.
