You might to try this option too. I used a 91 Maxima alt, rock steady 14+ volts at idle. Easy to get at any parts store and cheap. The trade off is that it's not a plug and play. I took me about 90 min to set it up, this is NOT a PhD required swap. Follow this link to see more detail. http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=565207&t=565205#reply_565207 And do upgrade our wire to 8 gauge like ZIII recommends. Or your stock wire might melt down. Cheers

Quick question. I'm putting in a new rear glass hatch weather seal on a ‘77. Is it easier to put the seal on the window (glass) first and then hatch? Or vis versa? Any tips?

That's true, it's already hit 98 degrees here in NC. So it's 120+ in a car. Thanks

has anyone used this type of product for the interior of the Z? Go to this link half way down on the page. http://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/109/html/3240.html . For that price I can do the whole inside of the car. Also I read that their damping sheet are the same spes as Dynamat.

Woo Hoo!!! And then there was light. After going over it again and NO light light comming on. I took the two wires off the positive lead of the alternator, and hooked them straight to the + side of the battery. and removed the grounds from the relays position #30...... And volia !!! Light Hi and Lo. Thanks to everyone. Thanks SteveJ for the above diagram it helped. Cheers

OK SteveJ and everyone. Looking at the above diagram from SteveJ, I have a question. I have NEW headlight recepticales with 3 wires. Green, Red and Black. I am not using any OEM harness from the headlights to the relays. Please direct my on the location of the wires. I don't think the black wires I have grounded should be, am I correct? If not can I use them as the "new" fused wire going to the Alt? I have the green wires going to 30 in the Lo relay and Red to the 30 to the HI relay. Sorry for silly questions but wirin is my mojor weakness.

Thanks for everyone input. EScanlon, that being said. My lo beams do work. I'm using H4 lights which required me replace the stock recepticals with Hi temp ones. There are 3 wiires on those sockets Red, Green and Black. I have the black grounded to chassis and I ran my own wire to the relays. And the grounds on the relay are to chassis too. I'm truly sorry for not mentioning that earlier. Zs-ondabrain, I'll look into doing an ohms check tonight at work.

Sorry about forgetting the year. 77 and I'm useing this setup http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/relays/relays.html . The only deveation for the wiring is that I using the original harnes to supply the power. I'm not running it off the alternator. I did'nt think that would that make a differance. Thanks in advance

OK This is what I've done. I did the relay upgrade 2 relays, 1 for the Hi and 1 for the lo beams. I'm using the connector at the rt side of the engine to get my 12 v and my Hi and Lo switching. I did a voltage check and there was no power for the hi side coming out of the connector. Sooo, I removed and cleaned the Hi Lo switch. It does "click", I also cleaned the contacts on the little see-saw thingy. Used emery cloth on every thing that had a contact. Still nothing on the Hi beams. So what else can I check? or if need "jump" wires to get the hi beams to work. Also for troubleshooting, I hit the power side of the Hi relay with battery power and they came on.

I just swapped my dizzy out of my '77 to a 80 dizzy as discibed by here http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techti...tor/index.html by BLUE. All the connections are correct. My problem is that when I tried to crank it for the first time , "BANG" out of the tailpipe. So I thought my timing was off some so I rotated the dizzy in both directions and nothing. I also loosened the other mount on the dizzy (the inverted bolt) and the same results. What am I missing? There is spark. And it seems like it's late. If I was to remove and reinstall the spak plug wire clockwise or counter clockwise can that help me out? I don't know which way to go or if there someting else I can do ? I don't see how I can be off of timing that much. I can't see how the dizzy can be installed wrong since the shaft is off set. Also the coil is an Accel one that ran fine with the old setup and ballast resistor. Well I would like to pass on the part # for the support and other hardware. I had a major hard time tracking these down. The Nissan dealer her in Goldsboro NC,told me I had to buy the whole dizzy.......NOT!!!!! 22178-s6700 support 19.18 22179-07n00 gasket-support 0.63 22180-71200 Ring-O 4.19 Any help would be great.
  22. mushupork5, any luck? Most of the time when a car does an " instant off" it's electrical. Let us know what you found ? Thanks Z Babe, Thanks I'm tracing a similiar problem. I have'nt checked the FPR, yet. Mine doesnt stall just backfires from off idle 'till 2500 RPM then is smooth. I'm looking at a timing issue or a low RPM lean out condition ( FPR ).
  23. When it shuts down, is it a stumble ? (i.e. fuel starvation) or like you turned off the car , via the key? i.e. electrical shut down? Z Babe, which hose or you refering to on the FPR ? Thanks

Good question. I think they all do the same, it just a matter if the switching (i think) in them. I've sold the same relay for a car/boat/tractor and house eletonics. Go figure.
