  1. Ah thank you, I will try this and let you all know if I have any luck.. Thank you very much for all the info! 🙂
  2. Sweet that works, thank you! 🙂
  3. Ahh thank you for that link, seems very helpful! You're probably right I might just fall in love with this engine but I was hoping to expand my personal collection of v8 engines. The only problem I have run into was whenever I did get this engine running, I heard a strange knocking sound that seemed to go away after a while, but this was still very strange to me. It is a possibility that from sitting that long it might have just needed to knock some things loose! haha! Anyways another problem I was having was the clutch pedal spring was not doing its job of bringing the pedal back to my foot, instead I would press down on the clutch pedal and it would essentially stay compressed, I hope that makes sense. I have posted about this on this fourm a while ago and ordered a new clutch master cylinder and a new clutch slave cylinder which I hope to fix the issue but I haven't been able to get around to it because I want to remove the dash first.
  4. Gotcha well I was able to find some pictures, I know I have a video somewhere but I couldn't find that one but anyways here is proof that the light motors and everything does work so if your friends who might want a Porsche let me know!
  5. Sounds good I do have some pictures somewhere but if I can't find them I'll just go take some new ones. I do not know how to use a multimeter but I for sure can learn.. My original plan before even joining this forum was to engine swap this car, resto-mod it and make it into a drifting machine, I now understand that making this into a drifting car would not be a smart move. However do you think it is still possible to engine swap it and make the interior modern (changing out the seats, restoring the dash, roll cage possibly?) Those are just ideas but I think I do want to try and engine swap and obviously get new seats.
  6. Yes Yes!! I am trying to get it running before I head off to college in give or take 6 months. I have downloaded that manual but I need some more instruction, is there any way I can direct message you or give you a call? thanks! 🙂
  7. My friend also had bought a 928 and he said the same thing as you hahaha! I will definitely have to add this on the no purchase list, thanks for reaching out and giving me the link to that website ill do more research on it! 😄
  8. I don't know much on this car but i'd love to research more about it, sounds like a blast to drive though! 🙂
  9. Man I never noticed these cars were used for drifting, thanks for the advice ill look into it.. And thank you, I hope to continue to revive his legacy have a great day!
  10. No worries, the red c3 was my fathers from when he was in high school and its been in the back of my head since I heard that used to be his.. Whenever I get enough money I would like to bring it to a shop here in Beaumont and get it fixed up for him, since he misses it. The rolls royce is another car that I would like to keep in the collection, as in a few years it could be worth more than it is now. And lastly the Datsun is a car that I have been trying to get fixed up for the past few months but I'm struggling on it haha!
  11. hmm I suppose i'll have to look into that, thanks for the heads up! 🙂
  12. haha he sure did, he seemed to find something so unique in every car he owned.. he even used to have 2 DeLorean's, a red and black one which have sold unfortunately.. 😞
  13. Haha yes it is! I would have to talk to my dad about it but I was able to get this one started last week, doesn't seem to be in as bad of shape as some of the others... The only problem other than the dust is that the seats are in tough shape. I would give you a price but I'm unsure, what's your asking price (let me know if you want me to send you more info on it)
  14. These are the cars that we have stored in our warehouse. Just to be clear my grandfather passed away in 2011 and 2 years ago I discovered these cars and realized how badly kept they have been. I am only 18 and I am trying to restore as many as possible. I have successfully restored a 1994 Mustang Cobra (indie-500 edition) that was no easy task but this has led me into my passion for cars. I understand these cars are in bad shape, but I am doing what I can to hopefully make my grandfather proud.. Lastly, some of these cars have not been driven or started in over 25 years... Which is extremely sad and I sadly have no one to blame except my father who does not care for cars as much as my grandfather or I do. Thanks for listening and I will try my best to describe each car, also all of these cars are for sale at the right price, if you are interested quote this and I will try to reach out to you! Thanks again!! -Reece The white Mercedes is the only car that has been sold; the Datsun red c3 corvette and the Old Rolls Royce are the only cars not for sale.
  15. I did try this but to no avail I still was not able to get it off, I think I might just try and find someone near me that can help me with that.. Anyone know where I can get a dirt cheap trailer?
  16. Thank you very much, if I do end up going the stock route I will contact you 🙂
  17. Will do, should I post them on this thread or should I create a new one titled, my grandfathers collection? Before I post them though, my dad has been wanting to sell them so if you're interested any of them are for sale, for the right price haha!
  18. Good evening everyone, I think I have posted about this before but I am in need of help. A little background, my grandfather left my family around 20 cars or so but thanks to the neglect of my dad they have rotted in the warehouse. I am 18 years old and going off to college next year but have successfully restored a 1994 cobra from the same warehouse. I am based near Houston, Texas and want to make this car a drifting machine. I plan on engine swapping this car but I am unsure on where to start. I will include some pictures, I have started by removing the seats and other items from the interior. I want to remove the dash from the Datsun and have downloaded the manual and watched countless YouTube videos but I cannot remove the steering wheel housing from the car. I accidentally broke a steering wheel remover bolt on trying to remove this steering wheel, please let me know what you all think and if there is anyone based near the Houston area I can contact for further instruction, this would be much appreciated. Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a blessed night. - Reece
  19. I did not even think about recording it haha that is a good idea, tomorrow or the next day I am available I will go down there, start it, and get some better pictures/videos of the actual knocking (I hope it does not make that sound) but I will also upload some pictures of that sud I mentioned earlier coming from the exhaust! No offense taken at all, my relatives have let it sit for too long... However, better now than never! Thank you for replying!
  20. Now that y'all say that I remember after I had gotten it started it sputtered black sud, which could have been rust so maybe somewhere in the pipes there is a leak, thank y'all, that makes a lot more sense now haha!
  21. Awesome! Thanks for replying! Yes, sorry for not mentioning the engine knocking noise coming from the engine, I felt my post was getting too long and decided to monitor it more. I first noticed the engine knocking when I started the car up, I do not know if the knocking was just because the car had no been started in over 20 years or because of another problem with the engine that is unknown as of now. Whenever I got the car running smooth at idle I decided to rev it a little just because I was curious about it and as soon as I did that the knocking became more aggressive so I eased up on the throttle and it was barely noticeable. The actual knocking is coming from the header of the engine, and sounds like it is coming from the back of the header. Anyways I do not want to take up anymore time, thanks for the reply and hope to hear from you soon! P.S. Sorry if this was a bad explanation, I tried my best!
  22. Hello! I am new here but I have recently started to restore a 1980 280zx and I have had some trouble. First, it took a lot to start but I finally was able to get it running smoothly but shutting it off after 5 minutes just to be safe. Whenever I had gotten in the car I noticed the clutch pedal is completely depressed, no resistance, nothing I pumped it a couple times after pouring brake fluid in the clutch master cylinder but still to no avail there was no pressure. Lastly, (I know this was stupid) I noticed on the engine block, I have no idea what hose or anything but there seems to be a huge opening in that hose, I’ll attach pictures and a video of the clutch pedal if I can. Thank you so much for reading this and please help! Thanks! ps: this car needs a lot of help, hopefully I can get it running better and smoother soon! IMG_8299.MOV
