E31 vs. P90 on a 280z Short Block
I have a E-31 Head that I would like to put on an F-54 block. With Manley SS valves, can I get this head to flow as well as a P-90 head? Usually mods, cam, headers, and Mallory. Nothing too radical or too fast. Rick

3.1 stroker parts - Webbers
I just surfed a few sites and found J E and then Ross pistons. They don't list a specific part number, but they acknowledge that 6 customs pistons forged wouls be $ 439.00. I know that J E makes them as I have seen them sold by various dealers like AZ Z. The reason I mentioned Ross is that I have set of 426 pistons for the '64 & '65 426 wedge engine. Production was real low just 500 426 cars per division per year. Z does everything better than a 426, except market value, 30K. Ross will even hand fit the pins for $3.50 each! Cobra guys like them too. If I go 3.1 and Webbers, I'll go forged to avoid any problems like burn holes sorting out mixture & advance curve. Manley has a stock # on stainless for Z's one is 38mm on the exhaust. Is that too big for an E-31? Manley makes great valves, never burnt #3 in a VW. That's a hot cylinder. Rick

date codes???
How does one read a casting #? I have the flywheel in NY and the short block in Scottsdale, just curious which 280z I have? It appear to be a date code on the flywheel, 225 mm and says E-30, which means little, I think. Date code would tell me if I have the good block. I think the pistons were flat top, but date code should confirm this. An E-31 head that I have, seemed to have a 5/69 code on the front. Confused? Rick

FOR SALE: SIX OF NISSAN PART NUMBER 12033-83W01. 89MM STD pistons and pins. Retail price is $300.60 through your local Nissan dealership. ONE OF NISSAN PART NUMBER 12033-13G10. 89MM ring set to complete four pistons. Retail price is $99.76 through your local Nissan dealership. These parts are new and stored inside their factory packages. I am asking $115 for everything and at this price I will pay the cost of shipping within the continental United States. Pictures are available upon request. Parts are available to be previewed in Houston, TX. The 3.1 litre engine looks doable, but the Webbers look like a disaster. I wish this was R & D'd and there was base line for the jetting. The SU's work so well, even with modifications on the 240, I'm thinking 280 short block, P-90 head, Racer Brown cam, and SU's. Any ideas on the 3.1 stroker as I have that nice crank froma bad injector Maxima? Rick- October 2003 - Denver
two days to reassembled '70's Champ, ran smooth, rings blown-out, too many 7,800 rpm runs, Nice Cam, Racer Brown- 240z gem
Recently purchased a 1972 240Z on E-Bay in NJ and all original, needed some sheet metal for my good Z. Hopefully the hood is good, the rest should be available. Hard parts, glass and interior should be fine, exterior panels will be tough. NJ is the best state for rusting any car through and through. Will have JPG's this weekend when I visit the car. Engine runs after 20 years in storage, separate gas supply. r.states@juno.com- 3.1 stroker parts - Webbers
looking for a Weber set-up as SU's may not flow enough, aftermarket 240mm flywheel, new pistons, turbo head and turbo block, and some used 240 rods with larger 9mm bolts. Have crank and an idea! Rick- turbo 280 for sale
I'm thinking of doing an 3.1 litre engine, is this the ribbed turbo block? Rick r.states@juno.com- My '70 240z

Stock SU's, Interpart exhaust what's left, Matching #'s on engine, original am/fm, seats and heavier sway bars from Bob Sharpe. Would average 26 MPG at 90 MPH from coast to coast.
