Odd thing is that the drain plug does have the magnet on the inside, so it's not just a fill plug. The fill plug has no magnet. This car has been in my family since new and I can't conceive when or why the plugs would have been changed out.

Thanks for the info. I await the historians.

Does anyone else's diff fill and drain plugs look like this? I stumbled on the fact many other's and pics in FSM look recessed. When I searched for replacements, they are not this type. I'm trying to figure out if this is normal or not. Have a great Memorial Day!
  4. Thanks for confirming!
  5. From this picture it looks like the fuel send is the only one that goes underneath the pivot rod. Hmm...
  6. Here's an example of a line going above the pivot rod.
  7. Yes, I am referring to to the hand brake pivot rod. I could have sworn some lines were in between the cabin and the rod or I saw a reference to this affect. The bends in the lines certainly lend themselves to going below the rod.
  8. Do the fuel send and return lines go above the parking brake rod? I am installing new lines from Classic Tube and of course now I can't remember if the lines routed above the parking brake, which would be a pain. I could have sworn I had lines routing above, but perhaps it was brake or vapor.
  9. What is your tire and wheel combo? My front fender gap is much greater than what your picture shows with the same springs and konis. I have 205 55 15 on 15s. I have not driven the car so maybe it will settle once it hits the road?
  10. I did not have this issue.
  11. I do have a pressure washer, and the engine will be on a stand. The freeze plugs all look in good condition though. Should I remove them to aid in cleaning?
  12. I am preparing to pull my engine, L24, and when I removed the thermostat housing it looked like someone had packed it and the head full of Stove Top Stuffing. It was a crazy amount of corrosion. I dug as much as I could out, but I'm sure there is more of this crap in the water jacket. The water pump area did not look too bad. This engine was sitting up for 15 years. Any suggestions on how to proceed cleaning?
  13. Yes, they said I would need the adapter. Thanks for the heads up. How do you like that flywheel? What clutch did you go with?
  14. I think I have decided on the RB26 flywheel 13bs (chrome moly) with a South Bend stage 2 clutch. Shout out to Godzilla Raceworks. Still don't know the answer to the MSA recommendation against stock clutch with a light flywheel.
  15. MSA sells the Fidenza, but their web site says, "Clutch Note: Centerforce II or ACTâ„¢ clutch strongly recommended at minimum. Not for use with stock or Centerforce I clutches." The stock 240z clutch and the Fidenza seems like a popular pairing. Why is MSA strongly advising against the stock clutch?
  16. Speaking of this expansion tank, what were the proper fasteners to hold this tank in place?
  17. No, never could get the damn thing out. The next step would be a hydraulic ram puller. I found a replacement strut. It should arrive next week.
  18. So in my attempt to pound it out from a hole in the bottom, I ended up putting a hole in the bottom of the insert. The bastard has not come out.
  19. I think this is going to be my next course of action.
  20. Ok, I am fighting a strut insert now. Just like all the post above, this thing is putting up a fight. I've done everything but chain it to a tree and car bumper or drill a hole in the bottom to pound it out. This could be worse than the spindle pin!

Well, I managed to change the parking brake cable with just removing the exhaust. This was so much fun on jack stands. Thank for the help once again!

I actually have this set of pry bars and it's what I used. Good call.

There is no way I can do this with the driveshaft and exhaust in place. I can't get to the square nuts or the cotter pin.

    Much appreciated
